How many of their players do you think are serious students in pursuit of a degree? How many of them are capable of attending class every day, and understanding and completing the same coursework and passing the same tests as regular students? Do these guys really go in and do the coursework for calculus or chemistry or philosophy or literature?
How about Clemson football players? How about college football players overall?

FCS is still college football. I enjoy it.

You're fighting a losing battle Smiling Tiger®. Remember when we all kind of snickered when Tennessee was "Champions of Life" instead of winning games? College ball is gone. Semie-pro is here and here to stay. I don't like it. But, if I was a talented young man and some organization offered me $1,000,000 to come play ball and I don't have to "play no school"...I'm sure I would take it.
Eighteen years old and "rich"? Every kid's dream. It's just a matter of time before players start getting coaches fired.

18 year old millionaires are a magnet for bad news punks. Our colleges are going to be a gang haven and I hate to to think of what becomes of the female on campus and especially in off campus apartments.

With NIL, etc., I would be surprised if class attendance is 41% and not just uga but all NIL universities.

Outside of the Ivies, basically no football player is actually understanding and completing the same coursework and taking the same tests as students. It's a joke.
Until 2023, an NCAA athlete had to have at least a 2.7 GPA in high school and a 850 SAT. That is an absolute joke, but not enough football and basketball players were getting eligibility under that standard, so they changed the requirements. They no longer need SATs at all. They have to have at least a 2.3 GPA. So there's basically no admissions requirement unlike every other student. Once they get there, the vast majority of players are shifted into extremely easy majors. When I was there, that was: Sports Management, Sports Communications, PRTM, Pan-African Studies, Business, Sociology, and General Studies. It is virtually impossible not to maintain the 2.0 GPA in those majors.
I had classes with a number of our famous football players. Some worked very hard, but most were extremely lazy students who probably couldn't tell you what class we were even in. Our QB at the time was in my Spanish class (since we required a unit of a foreign language for graduation). I saw him in the first class and the last. Not one other time in like 30 class sessions. This was memorable but I wouldn't say it's an outlier. The wonderlic scores of graduates proves this. An actual college graduate is expected to score between a 25-30. CJ Spiller was the best running back we ever had. His wonderlic score was an 8, which suggests he's not literate. Random chance should get you a 13. Deshaun had a 20.
And despite all that, I do think we are harder on our athletes than many other schools. That's why it annoys me when people call them student-athletes. Most are not.

Blame the NCAA, not UGA. The NCAA could change the rules. But they have made it very clear that academics are unimportant and irrelevant to college athletics.
