I know the politically correct answer is that the committee does not look at match-ups in final ranking, but I believe they do....
If two teams from one conference were to get in (i.e. clemson and louisville) would they want that matchup in the semis to avoid a rematch in the NC or would they like to separate in semis to increase chances of not having a rematch (where if a rematch did happen it would be justified as they two teams beat other conference foes)?
second, people are concerned about UL above us even though we have head to head. I think we will stay ahead after conference champ game, but looking at match-ups again, would the committee be excited about the potential of lamar jackson and UL against Bama D as a semi? This would help keep us above them.
Again, all hypotheticals, just curious y'alls thoughts.
I would find it impossible to believe they don't consider all that stuff. My guess is they would want to avoid conference matchups in the semi's similar to the basketball tourney avoiding it in early rounds.
You can't for the life of me convince me the committee isn't salivating over the potential eyeballs on a Bama v. Lamar Jackson semi-final
That's what I was thinking. I know there is a lot of dislike for UL right now from clemson fans, but I think they are a very good team and would love to see a Bama v. UL game.
