Unless we just "don't give the opponent credit" you hae to look at the fact we have played two teams in the same week. Not the norm and not something that will be typical.
Given the fact it wasn't a normal week; does anybody give some of the "disfunction" to that?
IT's opinion until you look at the "FACT" most college teams aren't having to navigate that schedule in a week! Which is a fact; not an opinion.
The talent should have taken better care of Furman, stop it. The transfer portal and the fact Furman had more time - 4 days _ to prepare for this game than did the Tigers meant it was closer than it should have been.
That's not even something you see in the NFL people. Because in the NFL if you play on Monday night; you don't play again until "Sunday"!
We played Monday and then again on Saturday against an opponent that had 10 days to prepare.
That's not entirely true. Many teams do it often. Usually every week. No different than a Thursday night game. Especially for our defense since its advertised as being a 2 deep defense. Saying, our 2's should have been able to shut Furman down. Giving up points to Furman doesn't concern me. Getting beat over and over by the same play does.
In my non colored glasses, 1, the sky is far from falling. 2, we are a work in progress. 3, we're making rookie mistakes on assignment that veterans shouldn't be making. It wasn't like Furman got a ton of yards on a trick play. 4, only the coaches know what plays were called on offense and what they were working on.
This type of schedule has never been kind to Clemson. That's why Clemson has a losing record for Thursday night games after playing on Saturday! These schedules 2 games (5 days) are built for TV and nightmare for coaches. ACC wanted labor day so they scheduled Clemson GaTech. Worry for next week as well 3 games 12 days. Liked the plan the coaches took today. They were playing into the 3 deep as early as the first half. Bet not many noticed. This had to do with results as well, but built film and experience! Furman gets credit too for execution. Get thru next week and we back to normal!
