Absolutely beautiful. Do you have many of those creatures dying on you and are they hard to manage keeping them all going?

Yardbirds have a life span around 5 years, but some much longer. I never see a dead bird, guess Nature cleans it up as that is food for other critters.
Turtles live forever, fish can do 15 years. I keep my 4000gal pond clean and monitor ph and orb. Critters there are healthy. Most frogs leave me and jump to the lake in Fall. The fish and frogs reproduce well, so never have to add any.
Night critters are about, never see a dead one.
Most management is just feeding them.

That's pretty amazing. Do you have to fend off any predators trying to get at your sanctuary?

Coyotes are in the area, have not seen one in my yard. Bear came by a few times. I put a small electric fence around my main feeders.
We have a cat flap where the Bride's cats can go in and out. I kinda worry about them getting eaten, but so far not.
All critters prey on other critters, it is the way of the world.
I don't allow Clover and Humble to sit here on the porch with me and kill my Doves and Deer.

Just FYI, there is a difference between "Kill" and "Harvest". I don't condone killing of almost anything except fire ants and the random waterbug roach that gets in my house. But if someone takes a deer, turkey, dove, quail, that is no different than keeping some bream, striper, bass, catfish, etc. I fish a lot, I catch and release 95% of my fish but if it goes in the cooler it will be used fully. Same with if I or anyone pulls the trigger on game animals, I expect that harvest to be consumed fully.
I grew up in a hunting and fishing family and was taught to fully appreciate and respect the outdoors. As a kid if we were fishing and saw floating trash, we picked it up and took home to put in trash. As a young kid, I shot a few redwing blackbirds with my 4-10, my father found out and he made me clean everyone of them and we ate them. They were not too bad actually and there is a season on them as an invasive species but my dad taught me a great lesson. You never take wildlife unless you plan on using it properly.

My Pop was an expert hunter/fisherman. We always had well trained hunting dogs and walked miles in the fields. He was an excellent shot. I am good with rifle/shotgun, not so much with a pistol.
I like to fish, release all as I am too lazy to clean.
I don't believe guys sitting around a baited dove field or in a perch above where they have piled deer/turkey corn is hunting. That is shooting and killing, but not hunting.
I eat tacos that are from slaughtered (not hunted) cows so not judging, just saying ....

Well baited dove fields, baited turkey is all illegal and those people are in it to "Kill" and I don't condone that at all. I hope any illegal hunting or fishing is fully prosecuted because they are stealing natural resources from all the public that use it legally. Whether that is for viweing or hunting all thieves need to be prosecuted.

Flycatchers and shrikes are some of my favorites along with house wrens. Those little wrens find the most unique nesting spots around houses.

Yesterday, saw a hummingbird land on a tomato cage and pull on the end of a cloth strip that I used to tie the plant up off the ground. Then it moved to another strip and pulled on it- I don’t remember seeing one sit in one place for that long.

Today , I was trimming some shrubs and cut a small limb and pulled it out and it had a wasp nest on the other end. I don’t remember moving that fast and got no stings!

I am allergic, die if stung. Not the case when I was a kid.
The last couple times headed to the emergency, but did not react.
I have been told that one not allergic can become allergic, so be care full.

I have heard that too. If I was allergic, I would have an Eppie pen available and hopefully it would work.

I was checking my Bluebird box today when I cut my field to make sure the last six had already flown ..... they had. I then calculated that over the last thirty years I estimated that I have flown close to 250, or maybe a tad more, Bluebirds from this one box ....... 12 this year! I also have another box that is about worn out that had flown more than 150. I'm doing my fair share!

I too have multiple bluebird houses for many years…only complaint I get is from next door when she hangs the wash out on the line and a stray turd finds the clean sheets!!

Bluebirds will do 3 nesting's a year if all is well.
I have 4 active boxes including one on my dock. I clean them out after the 2nd nesting, new eggs and nest are now in.
Like may birds, they are very territorial. If you raise 40 new ones over a Summer, you will end up with the same number you started with as they will scatter. Same with Chickadees, Titmouse, Wrens, etc.
Bluebirds hunt over an open area. They perch and swoop down to the ground like a hawk. Put your houses near a long flyway and not in sight of each other.
