This is actually huge.

There are some major advances in nuclear - thorium and SMR's, in particular - that we absolutely could not afford to keep d!cking around on. Building out that industry will be dirty in the short term...and far cleaner and more efficient in the long term.

Actually there's one tech in particular that will benefit. We already have a reactor that we built clear back in the '60's and it ran until the '90's...we know all about the tech, it works, it's far safer than old-style mass fission plants. But all those Atomic Energy acts stifled it.

It'll also be fascinating to watch the fallout - maybe not the best term! - as nuclear and oil realize they are no longer playing on the same team. Actually nuclear has known that forever, they were just getting killed by all the NIMBY - Not In My Back Yard! - stuff going on because nobody wanted another Chernobyl or Three Mile Island in their, you know, backyard.
