Step 1: load the USSC with right wings
Step 2: Get the immunity case to the USSC
Step 3: Get USSC to say that president is immune to presidential acts and not of unofficial acts. Lower court decides what is a presidential act and what isn't
Step 4 (really step 1:B): load lower courts with Trump backed judges.
Step 5: Win the presidential election
Goal: Everything I do is an official act and the lower court judges will side with me
Going forward: I'd hate to even say.

Let's use a totally random hypothetical.
I understand that we are all hyper focused on January 6th, so I'm trying to come up with something totally different.
We have an American being held hostage in some 'Stan country.
We know it's extremely dangerous to get in there and help to rescue them.
Sitting POTUS says that he understands it's certain death for said hostage if we don't make a move. We don't make a move and hostage is offed.
Knowing that it's a life or death risk with no action could the sitting POTUS be held responsible in some manner like negligence?
Is this the kind of scenario where some lawyer somewhere would be able to argue that the death was caused due to the sitting POTUS not doing anything and he could have been charged and tried in the past but as of yesterday is immune to said charges and trials?

A more likely scenario would be one where we just change up your scenario slightly…
Liz Cheney is the hostage and if rescued she would be testifying against Trump in an upcoming hearing.
Trump understands it is actually pretty easy to get in and rescue her with probably even no injuries of deaths to the rescue team members.
President Trump understands that not rescuing her means certain death.
President Trump chooses what is best for him personally and does not authorize her rescue…she is killed. The End.
