Absolutely will not happens. Sometimes I feel like some of yall just want to throw out names to be different. He wasn’t a great DLine coach which is why Dabo didn’t fight to keep him.

if the answer is NO then I'm not sure why Dabo would bother. We once had the TOP paid coordinator in the country who was also the top DC in the country. With the FUNDS at Dabo's disposal we "should" be getting at least a top 5 DC in the country.

You guys got your minds so twisted you can't remember that BV was just demoted to co-dc when Dabo plucked him up. It was Dabo at Clemson which attracted all those 1st round draft picks. Had it been BV he wouldn't have been sharing the position. He could have named his price at Oklahoma and probably been promoted to HC there.
Nothing in the man's life boosted his resume' like his tenure with Dabo at Clemson.

don't care what Stoops did to him at OU..........he was a top 5 DC in a conference that had cutting edge high scoring offenses throughout the league.
so yes.........he was one of the best Dabo could've hired at the time.........just like Riley.
unlike Streeter & Goodwin who were BOTCHED HIRES!!

Demoted because he was bringing in his brother, but believe what you want to.He was one of the best, if not the best in the country.Had Brent been at Alabama, LSU or Georgia, you can bet your a## he would’ve been regarded as the best.

Thank you, Captain Hindsight. He was not regarded as one of the top DCs because he was at Oklahoma and Big12 defenses were struggling badly at that time.

His last season with Stoops as co-DC, they were the 5th best defense in the country. They were 62nd in 2008. His tenure was more Wes Goodwin than what we now think of Brent Venables. Like Chad Morris, it was seen as an outside the box hire and was, at best, highly debated amongst our fanbase.

after DV was hired Dabo said in his press conference that the people HE reached out to for advice told Dabo that BV was the guy to get.

If your point is that we have the money to hire top rate talent, then I agree with you. However the top 5 DCs (whoever they may be) are almost certainly happily employed and very nicely compensated.

BV's salary as DC at Clemson still rates as one of the highest paid DC's in the country. That money should still be available if needed for a TOP DC hire at Clemson!!!

Bates has never called a defensive set in his entire coaching career. He may be good at poetry, but he is unproven as a DC. We need experience.

No more "In House " guys at DC. Please no. Get a guy outside of the box who has Power 5 defensive experience. Get somenoe from Oregon, Ohio State or or from the SEC. No more "soft" tacklers and moronic defensive schemes. Goodwin will screw up Okla. like he did Clemson on defense.
