To be truthful

Nov 28, 2022, 7:48 AM

This has been the best year of coaching for Dabo Swinney. He has had several spectacular years as the head coach at Clemson but none of those begin to compare with 2022. He has won ten games with a good chance to win twelve games with the least talented team that Clemson has had since he has been the head coach. ANY coach who can have this kind of success with the injury to key players, a new offensive and defensive coordinator, a totally incompetent quarterback should easily win coach of the year in all of college football. The new rules that have been forced on coaches like the nil and expanded transfer portal has changed the game for many but coach Swinney has stood firm on his beliefs and again, the Tigers are a top ten team..No other coach could have weathered this storm.

Go Dabo. . Beat the Heels

This is extremely dumb.

Dabo has 3 5 Star QBs on the roster. He has a 5 Star RB and 2 highly rated 4 Stars. His receivers are high 4 Stars. This is by the ratings his second highest rated line in his entire tenure. It's his highest rated defensive line and set of linebackers in his tenure. It's his 3rd highest rated secondary. We have his best kicker. We have 12 5 Stars and 39 4 Stars on our roster according to the college football talent composite. At 943, it's his most talented team he's ever coached. By comparing to the rest of teams, it's the third.

Why do we have brand new coordinators who have never been coordinators anywhere else? Clemson should not be a school where nobodies get to cut their teeth at highly paid positions.

We agree that we have a totally incompetent QB. So why do we continue to play a junior who's totally incompetent instead of a younger player who has a higher ceiling? I think Cade is better than DJ right now because he's a winner mentally. But even if you disagree and think he's "not ready," how do you get ready if you're not allowed to play?

Dabo is paid $11 million a year not to "stand firm on his beliefs," but to adjust to the college football landscape. Whether or not NIL and the transfer portal is good. It's here. It's Dabo's job to adjust, not pigheadedly refuse to do so.

idk . I wish you could have sat next to me this season

The Clemson bench was not harmonious this season.
The whole thing fell apart. Maybe it looked different farther away

but all of the Clemson DBs were watching Dabo's play calling on the last drives in the West End Red Zone. No one was looking at the Defense coaches

KJ Henry never interacted with his teammates. Bryan Breese ran off to the injury tent area to get away from the team at some point in the early second half.

According to the 24/7 talent composite, Clemson has the 5th most talented team in the country. The only teams in front of them are Alabama, UGA, Ohio State and Texas A&M. Clemson's two losses are to the 10th team (Notre Dame) and 20th most talented team (South Carolina).

Here are the numbers.

2022 - 943.00 (5th) Final Ranking ??
2021 - 933.77 (4th) 14th
2020 - 915.57 (4th) 3rd
2019 - 863.03 (9th) 2nd
2018 - 892.45 (6th) 1st
2017 - 853.65 (9th) 4th
2016 - 853.65 (9th) 1st
2015 - 807.56 (13th) 2nd

So looking objectively at the numbers, the is Dabo's MOST TALENTED roster, not his least. (The data only goes back to 2015). In fact you could say that his championship teams in 16 and 18 SIGNIFICANTLY outperformed the existing talent on his roster.

It's obvious that the trajectory of the program has changed, and not for the better.

With that being said, I'll say this. Recruiting ranking *****'s (stars) don't win football games. Heart wins football games. I think that was obvious this past weekend. Clemson's players went out there expecting to win because of the Paw on their helmets and the fact the previous teams had done it 7 times in a row. I mean look at Texas A&M season. All those 5*'s they brought in over the off season and no team stunk it up more than they did.

Several years ago (I'm not exactly sure when the shift happened, Clemson went away from recruiting the state to a more national recruiting footprint. While it's impressive to bring in guys from California and Texas, did those guys grow up Clemson fans or do they simply see Clemson as a means to an end (the NFL)? There are 122 guys on Clemson's roster and 53 of them are from the State of SC. But many of the 53 are walk ons and players that will never see the field. Compare that to SC's roster of 119 players, 51 are from SC. The difference is of those 51, many more of them are on SC's two deep roster. Those guys grew up in the State and understand the importance of the rivalry to the fans.

The simple fact of the matter is, since Spurrier left South Carolina, Dabo has be able to out talent South Carolina by a significant margin. However, with the emergence of NIL and the transfer portal, coaches have the ability to quickly and significantly change the talent level on their rosters. Dabo's failure to realize that can account for the drop in Clemson's performance over the past 2 seasons. Just as in the natural world, if one does not adapt to the changing environment, they are doomed to be left behind.

I completely disagree.

Our talent level is far and away better than every single team we have played this year. Notre Dame is the only team that comes anywhere close, and they beat us by three touchdowns.

South Carolina is nowhere close to being as talented as we are, and they beat us. Moreover, we struggled with teams we shouldn’t have, such as Wake Forest, Syracuse, and NC State.

We are not developing talent. Well, nor are we game planning well enough to put those players in a position to succeed. We are currently under achieving for at least the second year in a row, and an argument could be made that this is the third year in a row. For one of the highest paid coaching staffs in college football, who has everything they could possibly want or need in terms of facilities, administrative support, and fan support, this trend is unacceptable.

So you can understand this ...
.
Clemson had great talent this year.... it didn’t develop

Clemson had a lot of new coaching ... they really didn’t do as much with the talent as perhaps they should have

There may have been some “finger pointing” among the players
It’s obvious to us all that many players didn’t get the job done.

There was a lot of key injuries. There are players on the Clemson team that cannot be as effective as the guys they replaced

Clemson got few breaks this year from the officials.

Turnovers can, and often does Kill a teams chances to win. This was the worst I have seen in a long time.

———————

Clemson was very fortunate to win ten games with the way this entire season went. But they did. And it isn’t over yet.

So you experts think that this success was all a happening with no input from coach Swinney!!!!
If we were 7 and 4 right now I’d be right with you gurus... but we aren’t

Clemson will likely win the next game and EARN the right to play Bama in the Orange Bowl.

And the bitching continues
