I think Clawson is of the same football coach mold as Dabo in that he is a man of God, family, and turning young men into better men, sons, husbands, and fathers. Right behind Clemson, I have always pulled for Wake Forest. I will always remember the time when their mascot Deacon came over to help our Tiger do pushups when we scored so many points on them. Coach Clawson is indeed a class act.

Probably tired of the current system in college football. He is one of the good guys that was a close friend to Dabo. Only the crooks are going to be left wanting to coach college football. Both NC and Stanford have hired General Managers to operate their sports program like the Professional sports programs do.

Unfortunately hiring a GM and running a pro program is what’s needed going forward. I hate it. I despise what college sports have become. But this is what people wanted. So we can’t fault teams for running it like the pros because that’s exactly what the mess is now.

I, too hate what I see college football becoming. I don't watch pro football for all those reasons, and I only watch Clemson football, now. I'm not far from giving up the 400 mile round trip weekly jaunts to Clemson, as well. I can watch on TV, and save a bunch of money and hassle in the process. I never thought I'd say this, but I never thought college football would devolve into what it now seems to have become.

He was a great coach for Wake who has a lot of respect for Dabo and the way he runs our program. I think they have a lot of the same qualities. I wonder if part of his reason for resigning is this era of CFB with NIL and transfer portal.

He has been outspoken about the state of football. Complained before the season about tampering and players being offered $100k's to leave WF. Basically saying players get developed then paid more money to leave the program that invested into a player that many didn't offer out of HS.
Going to be the end of many quality coaches just like Saban.

Coach Clawson was one of the best in the business and he led one of the smallest P5 schools to many wins over the years and doing it the right way. The ACC will miss Coach Clawson.

Agree!! Great man and coach…very similar to coach dabo…I will miss his mesh offense and well developed mature teams…hoping they find a replacement in kind for the wake fb team…they deserve it!!! Go Tigers!!

He has been a perfect fit for WF, and he really would be a terrific boost for lots of programs. I think there are many men who would love to finish their careers like he has finished his, looking back, few to no regrets, leaving a very positive legacy at every stage. That will make you sleep good at night.

I think you’d have a hard time finding a smaller P5.
Wake has always done more with less (on a comparable basis) than any of their competitors.
Sometimes when they host an FCS school, the FCS has a larger student body.

I admired coach Clawson. He had a lot of integrity. He fielded competitive teams (most of the time) while operating at a decided disadvantage. Good luck to him!
