This is the meaning of elections having consequences. There have been several family owned restaurants that have had to close instead of passing on the costs to their customers because of bidennomics. Places are unable to afford the cost of supplies, it’s a shame.

Look at the timing. 26yrs in business and it closes when our economy is the worst in history. This is CLEARLY due to inflation and operating costs have become financially unreasonable. They competed just fine for almost 3 decades.

In the White House it doesn’t change a d**n thing for the average American. The two parties we have both pit you against the other one so you don’t stop to think for a minute they both could care less about you. The only ones the people in Washington serves are the corporations and lobby groups that fund their campaigns. You want change? Vote for anyone without a D or R next to their name on the ballot

Zero small businesses shut down under Trump.

Because of Dave Portnoy and his campaign to start a charity to keep some alive and trust me THOUSANDS of small businesses closed during and after COVID. Was it Trump's fault? Not gonna go there bc I don't like arguing politics on a sports board but to say zero closed under his watch is just silly or satire. I'm gonna go with the latter and move on. I'm sure most of you don't know Dave Portnoy except from maybe fox news but he saved so many small businesses during that time if anyone should be president that man should take a stab at it bc at least he won't be tied down like most politicians to whoever put them in the seat to begin with and go back on every word they said during campaigning. Remember when Biden said that BS about college debt forgiveness, what a F'n joke. That would help myself and others like me but cost this country so much to what an idiot that man is he needs to go fall off more bikes that way he doesnt speak as much and put his own shoe in his mouth.

It's so easy to put the blame of our economy on Joe Biden, but the actual truth is that our economy had already turned North during the last year of Trump's Presidency, and Joe is getting blamed bc he was the next president after Trump's downturn of the economy with the COVID virus closing down the world
trade putting the world's economy in trouble when Biden became our next president.

It is a fact that the Joe Biden economy is right now the best economy than anywhere else in the world. So, IMO it isn't fair to blame Joe Biden for what was already happening with price gouging and prices increasing bc of COVID. When Joe became our countries next president covid was already having it's effect on the world's economy, and he is being held accountable bc people feel that somebody is the blame, and Joe inherited the blame bc he became our countries next sitting president. Joe Biden should be appreciated much more than the republicans are giving Joe bc it's the things that Joe has done that has the American economy better off than anywhere else in the world...

Is Joe Biden actually to old to be running for a second term as president, probably so, but it's bc of the people that Joe Biden brought in to help run our country is the reason that our economy is better off than anybody else's in the world, and it was under Trump's presidency and his policies before covid that our countries economy had started to turn north, and it was bc of COVID that the world's economy was badly hurt, and it was Joe Biden's policies that has the American economy ahead of everybody else's economy in the world... The truth is the truth, and the facts are the facts, and the facts are that under Biden's leadership our countries economy is doing better than anyone else's economy in the world....

Sleepy Joe inherited a 1.9 % inflation rate and drove it up to over 9%. The price of goods is still going up monthly. He transportation secretary let ships sit in all the major ports and refused to let them dock which helped drive the price of goods up. He shut down the US oil industry on day one of his sham presidency raising the cost of goods. He opened the flood gates at the border letting illegals run rampant. Americans are dying by the hands of illegals. Venezuela, Haiti, China etc are emptying there prisons and insane asylum’s and sending them here. Terrorist organizations are coming and plotting the next 9/11. His own FBI director has been sending warnings about the border and security threats to our country for months. You can whine about a crappy bill that would have allowed over 2 million illegals in per year to someone else I don’t care and agree completely with shutting the bill down. No illegals deserve to come in this country. There’s a process for a reason. If you immigrate legally welcome come on in. My heart only bleeds for Americans and the people who are suffering and dying on a daily basis because an incompetent jack ### is in the White House. He should be in prison, only a moron would thank him for destroying this country. This country and our people can’t take 4 more years of this. No way should people be able to get in the streets and chant death to America and death to Israel. If they do they need to be escorted out sent to Gaza to deal with the terrorist they support.

Buying power of the dollar has shrunk. Compare this economy with the economy Trump resurrected after the Bush-Obama mess they left for him and before his haters conspired with China to unleash biological warfare in their Hail Mary attempt to rig the election. Wages grew for the first time in decades under Trump. Lowest unemployment rates in modern history. Black unemployment was at an all time low. The illegal border crossings were significantly reduced.

Then ole Fauci and the Bush-Obama deep state actors sprung into action to sabotage everything in their effort to thwart Trump. The Trump Derangement Syndrome sickos were hell bent to stop him from being the most successful President since Reagan. They just couldn’t stand how successful he was at turning things around.

I took issue with his spending just like I have almost every administration except Clinton who worked with Newt to get us on a more reasonable track debt and spending wise.

This current cast of characters and their disdain for fossil fuel energy and disdain for securing American energy independence, whether it be via nuclear power or gas and oil, have caused gas and power costs to go through the roof and it was completely unnecessary. That added cost translates to higher food cost, higher utility costs, higher cost for everything while wages stayed flat or declined. This a good ole Jimmy Carter malaise that this current crew purposefully pursued b/c of their stupid green energy raw deal agenda.

So no, most Americans ain’t buying what they are selling this time around.

Hard for any small/local business to stay open these days, they probably could only makes ends meet during football season. The more I look back at 2020 the more blown out of proportion it looks, none of those businesses should've been shut down and now with the loony Dems running everything into the ground it's even worse. But, we just have to pretend it's normal...or the new normal right.

Since the late 1970s, Holden's Ranch has served Southern-style cuisine, but it recently announced the restaurant has closed because of rising food prices.

In a Facebook posting, the restaurant said it didn't want to pass on the rising costs to its customers, creating a hardship.

The Spartanburg diner at 580 Southport Road was most known for its burgers, sandwiches and Southern-style chicken stew.

Its a nice way to publicly state that they were losing money and they realize that there is a limit on what they can charge for their product. It really is a spiral once it starts. They probably knew if they charged what they needed to charge to break even much less make a profit, they would lose customers due to higher prices meaning again coming up short and again needing to raise prices over and over until you've lost not only the business but depending on how far you take it, your savings. There is only so much cost cutting you can do as a small business.

So, yes this was probably a very sound business decision for them. Hopefully, they did it soon enough before heading too far down the wrong path.

There are a lot of reasons a small business would close. It may or may not have been due to inflation. However, that is certainly possible under our current economy.

I wonder if they are going to sell the business if they own the building. A local restaurant closed and sold the property to some individuals that renovated it and turned it into a different type of restaurant.

You are correct, restaurant business is extremely competitive and most people aren't willing to work that hard. For local restaurants that have survived many years it's my belief that the next generation of the family often just doesn't want or need to make the effort. So the original owner retires and closes.
It's more simple than rising costs of business. That's how capitalism works, such as it is. And no one's fault, certainly not the President's. I bet no one gave the Prez credit when it opened.

I’ve never been to Holden’s, but if they closed because they didn’t want to pass rising prices onto the, that’s weak, I call them quitters, it’s good that they closed. Financial Darwinism. It’s likely a stronger business will open in their place. Survival of the fittest. Free market. Welcome to America.

Y’all clowns that think Trump and or Biden had anything to do with this recent inflation (which has mostly passed) simply do not understand basic economics.

If you’re getting your information from Fox News, social media cesspools and Publix prices, you do not understand basic economics. Try watching Bloomberg you might learn something new.

If you’re waiting for prices to return to pre-Covid levels, keep waiting. LMFAO.

Inflation rate has shrunk but the sky high prices remain. And yes decisions made at the White House have direct impacts on inflation.

What are suggesting when you say “keep them away”?

Do you want some government entity to step in and stop the developers?

Should the county get more active and restrictive in zoning so county officials can decide exactly what is built where?

Who is deemed to have the authority and wisdom to “keep them away” in a manner that is best for all of us?

Developers consuming their property…hard to turn down the money. All Trees gone soon..another condo city! Nothing to do with their business model they saw the handwriting on the wall. Developers taking over yet another area! Sad to see it marching into Oconee County too! Clemson U eating the towns.

…. Took my 13 yr old son there on our way to our Lake Keowee home and it was awful. Poor service, cold food and just an overall dirty feeling. Not how I remembered it. Sad.
