K. Bryant on the list

Would not mind seeing him do well at all... especially since Mizzou may be a record-wrecker for the SEC and not bowl eligible themselves.
However - I'd be willing to wager that Hunter Johnson puts up better stats at Northwestern than Bryant does at Mizzou.

Is HJ starting for sure? I thought they had a QB coming back for one more year.

Not comparison HJ/KB to TL
Feb 18, 2019, 8:06 PM

That comparison is already done and we know how it worked out
Just comparing Hunter Johnson's prospects at Northwestern to Kelly Bryant's at Mizzou. I wouldn't bet on either of them to win the Heisman, but if I had to pick one to at least get more votes at the end of the year, I'd pick HJ.
HJ may have a little competition from the rising senior who was previously the backup, but I expect HJ to win that job. He might have passed KB at Clemson had TL not come to Clemson and passed them both.

Passing yardage will double what KB will put up, but KB will double HJ's yardage on the ground but, as a QB, my preference is to have a down field accurate passing QB over a true duel threat QB!!!

Neither Trevor nor Travis will win the Heisman

because of each other. They'll both put up gaudy numbers again but I don't see Trevor throwing 45 TDs AND Etienne running for 25. Obviously that would be great, but let's try to be realistic here.
In any case, Natty > Heisman any day, and we absolutely have the offense to win another one next year.

Etienne won't win a Heisman because he's never going to

get enough carries. Etienne averaged 13.6 carries per game last year. Jonathan Taylor, who beat him out for the Doak Walker award, averaged 23.6 carries per game.
I think for any back to win the Heisman these days they need well over 2000 yards. Even at 8 ypc that's 250 carries just to get to 2000 yards and i think all of these awards are voted on prior to the playoffs so he only has 13 games to do it. That would be around 19 carries per game - about a 50% increase in work load from 2018. I just don't see that happening - the coaches like to keep him fresh.

Around 2,000 yards by voting time and 20+ touchdowns and being in a team in the championship hunt is absolutely required for a running back to win in 2019.
Meanwhile, a QB can be in a team that has no shot at the playoffs as long as he’s responsible for 50 TDs, passing and running.
I think Trevor probably averages 3 TDs/game responsible for by voting time, which is around 39 touchdowns. We know the interception percentage will be very low. If Clemson is 13-0 at that point, Trevor will be invited but can still be beat out by someone with ridiculous stats against lesser competition like the Oklahoma QBs each of the last 2 years.

Clemson's Not a "Heisman" type of School and that's Ok
Feb 19, 2019, 9:31 AM
|
|
We have the type of program that doesn't have to put all of it's apples in one cart hoping to win. Granted, a top QB really makes things easier, but when that Top QB goes down or that top RB goes down or that stud WR goes down Clemson is rigged to adapt and adjust. When a guy like Dexter Lawrence goes down and missed the playoffs and this team was still Able to hold Notre Dame and Alabama to a combined 19 points that's that's the bigger story.
Sure, it would be nice to see a Heisman in Clemson's trophy case, but I would guess being the MVP of the National Title game softens the disappointment a bit.

Here is what I think, and what I 100% believe. Clemson FB program has had it's share of Heisman type players in the last 10 years, and none of those players have been Voted to be a Heisman winner. IMPO, CJ Spiller and Deshaun Watson was as much as a Heisman player as any I have seen in past history, and neither have won, and I don't believe that Trevor Lawrence will be awarded the Heisman either. Before an award as the Heisman will ever be awarded to a Clemson FB player, the voters will first have to acknowledge that Clemson University has a power house FB program, and before they can do that, they will have to know how to spell and pronounce CLEMSON!!!

While this idea sounds great on the surface, CLEMSON football is not geared to elevate a single person to the top of the Heisman heap. Dabo & company have designed this program to be a team-first type of team, and allows numerous players to get plenty of PT. When our team does that, we win games, and will continue to beat others (like Bama) that grind their players into the turf without subbing often enough to prevent issues. The rest of the country can do it their way, and win the Heisman, and CLEMSON will continue to dominate the National Championships. The Heisman has become an official joke in recent years with their idiotic selections, made too early to actually see who really deserves that trophy.
No, I like the way we do it, and they can keep their Heisman trophy. It doesn't mean much more than a medal for sharp-shooting in the military IMO. Maybe rename it the Miss Congeniality Trophy.

I’m with the nether will win camp. One thing that makes our offense indefensible is our plethora of talent. If you focus on the run game, good luck. Trevor, THigg and JRoss will scald you. Play back in a nickel, it’s Etienne time. Pick your poison. No we won’t have a heisman, but we will have 4 1st rounders and another natty.

Putting ETN on the same line as J Fields completely discredits the author. How you can seriously suggest Fields, who has yet to accomplish anything, on the same level as ETN is ludicrous.
