How is the No 2 safety not a 5 star?

The “experts” may think he needs to be a little bigger! 170 is a bit light in the britches! I bet he gains ten or fifteen pounds of muscle soon after becoming a Clemson man!

most likely is because the feeling among the "experts" is the overall talent level at safety isn't as strong. Hypothetically, the #1 player at a position wouldn't automatically be a 5*, though it's not likely.

the rankings are also fluid, meaning guys move up and down over the course of their respective recruiting cycles

typically, a 5* guys is determined to be a "can't miss" prospect that should be able to contribute immediately and - SUPER subjective

every cycle will have a few guys that anyone who evaluates them would be certain they are an incredible prospect - not many 5*s to be passed out

this reveals one flaw in the star system because you have more 5* QB, DE, and CB than other positions, so if you recruit to your needs, your overall recruiting ranking may suffer. For example, if you sign 3 5* QBs in one class, the rankings will be somewhat artificially inflated because you only play one QB at a time.
