TD me, ignore me, whatever will make you feel better about what I have to say, and I say bc it's what I totally believe. Two Clemson players that I believe could and should have been two of Clemson's all time greats at their position for our Tigers that are being listed so far down in their draft projections as if they were barely above mediocre level as college RBs, IMHO it's the results of our coaches that is and were coaching those positioning as in CJ our RB coach, and Carter with Wes Goodwin as his coach, and then there is Briningstool being coached by whoever Dabo could put there already on staff!!!
CJ Spiller has been one of favorite players for a long time, I also carry his jersey #28 on the front finder of one of my prize possessions as in my Harley with a Clemson Tiger paint scheme, and his #28 will remain for as long as I'm the owner, but that doesn't affect my opinion that Dabo should replace CJ with an experienced RB coach that has put many RBs into the NFL bc it is my honest opinion that Shipley or Mafah wasn't developed as Top college RBs that I believe they could have and should have been at the college level!!!
Wes has been replaced with I hope to be with an improved LB coach, CJ still as the RB coach, and there should be an improvement change there. Just maybe there should be a long time experienced TE's coach working with our TEs to get their maximum potential from them. IMO that that is the 1st step with having a NC team!!!

RB recruiting has stunk. RB skills are not how to run the ball but how to block and read defense and I am not sure CJ is good enough to teach that on top of not being a great recruiter. CTE was serious critic that if you can't block you dont play.
Our TE position has stunk since Allen left because none of them have been great blockers since. This goes back to coaching also. Catching a ball is not the only skill needed at TE.

CJ was an incredible player for us but much of what he accomplished

was due to amazing God-given talent rather than a high intellect or a detailed understanding of the game.
His Wonderlic score was extremely low, which is cause for concern if he is supposed to understand complex football things and be able to teach others.
I loved CJ as a player, but his coaching and recruiting leave a lot to be desired.

Well said. I'm not sure what's up with Carter. He has everything it takes from the physical athletic perspective. Probably the only reason he's going so high. The NFL draft report was fair. Not sure if he was frustrated over coaching or what. But something was off.
I'd be surprised if Jake made a roster. Unless he'd be used as a situational wr or something.
At least Dabo has started the last couple years to address the weaknesses.

I put it there to show that I wasn't joking about CJ being an all time favorite of mine bc he is, and his # on my Harley should help to show that I wasn't just picking on him by saying something negative about him. I was only being honest about his coaching ability that sucks IMO.

I hate it but I agree about CJ. His reserved personality doesn't seem it would translate into being a great coach. Now we do have the highly rated back coming in from VA. How much of that get was on CJ?
And in contrast it is the reason I think Ben Boulware will be a great coach for us. I think he has a a very magnetic personality paired with the fortitude to get in the most oit of someone in training, preparation, and on game day. We'll see how it all works out, but I would imagine if CJ doesn't being in some more great recruits and develop pur room thr next year or two he may be gone.

If you want to know why we have not been really good the last few seasons until this past year, there is your answer. We were a young team last season and we should have more draft picks in the future.

We still need some more upgrades with our coaching staff also, and a proven RBs coach is one of those places that needs upgrading. I use to agree with some fans that our WR coach needed to be upgraded also but he is beginning to come around, probably with outside help from someone, probably from Jeff Scott I'm assuming...

I really believe it hurt Phil's draft stock and the teams performance to play him while he was so injured. It was also disappointing that BC went from a number 1 LB recruit in the nation to 3rd round projection in the draft. How much of that is on WG vs his ability or preparation, I don't know.
