Agree and I must say that Bakich and Brownell are building teams that they can win with out of the portal...
It would be nice if FB positions worked out like baseball or basketball positions, but it doesn't!!!

Defense was one of the weaker parts of our team last year. Sounds like that is being addressed.

Stud at SS, I wonder if him or Cuifo would move to 2B for defensive purposes.

Need more power at 3b this kid needs to play middle, can't have three kids in IF tht don't have the potential to hit 20H's. Not in today game. Look at the last 4 standing in Omaha

It’s not about which positions provide power. Typically your catcher and corner infielders provide that but if we are getting enough power from others it doesn’t matter if your first or third basemen can’t hit bombs if they play great defense. We have power, average and especially OBP. We have a very balanced lineup….

I think we'll have plenty of pop back in the lineup with Gaffney, Priest and even Harrison. Bissetta is a potential 20 hr guy as well if he gets enough at bats, we'll have plenty of 10+ hr guys. I prefer having a high AVG/OBP lineup and strong defense myself. All that's left is getting Knaak some help with a few good pitchers, need that strong 1-2 punch at starter and a lockdown guy out the pen to replace Gordon.

The help is on the way for sure. This is the best group of freshman arms I’ve seen come to Clemson. Samol can replace Gordon no doubt

Yeah I agree Samol has the potential to be a good one if he can stay healthy. I really like McGovern too, reminds me alil of Jordan Montgomery with his pitching style.

Ohhh, ok, got it. I thought we were just talking about next season; if Harrison does make it to campus he won't be here until the 2026 season because he'll still be a senior in high school next year.

Yeah, we should have at least 4 guys capable of hitting for power: Cam, Priest, Gaffney, and Bissetta. Wnctigerfamily I think you're selling Paino short here. I'm not saying he's gonna hit 20 bombs next year, but he did hit 11 this season and 9 last year. Now he is an older guy, so he might not have as much room left to develop further, but if he could add even just 2 more to that total in 2025 to finish with 13, that would be right on par with what Hinderleider did last year, the 3rd most on the team. I think that would be a very reasonable expectation for Paino and would be a more than adequate level of power.
I also think we tend to forget about Jarrell. I know he disappeared in the postseason, which understandably left a bad taste in people's mouths, but his numbers over the whole year were a lot better than what I thought they'd be. He hit .289 with 6 homers and a .914 OPS. And here's the key: he did it in only 116 plate appearances. As you remember, he was out injured for a significant portion of the season. Those numbers aren't earth-shattering, but when you factor in the limited plate appearances, they're actually very respectable. If you do the math, you'll find that if Jarrell had gotten as many plate appearances as the regular starters this season, he'd have probably hit about 14 homers. Now of course that does carry the assumption that he would've continued hitting at the same clip over a larger sample size, which we can't say for certain. But the bottom line is this: Jarrell has legit potential to be a 13-15 homer guy if he can just stay healthy all season. And that's something I don't think many people realize.
Ciufo probably won't provide much power. Listi seems to have virtually none at all. The biggest wildcard here is Purify. He only hit 3 homers last year, and he struggled mightily with hitting consistently, but that was as a true freshman. I think we all saw this season how raw he was, but also how much talent and potential he has, despite how streaky he was. So the biggest question here is whether he can take a significant step forward next season.
So all in all, that means the team will likely have three 15+ homer potential guys (Cannarella, Gaffney, Priest), three 13-15 homer potential guys (Paino, Bissetta, Jarrell), two guys who probably won't supply much power (Ciufo, Listi), and one big wildcard in Purify. That should give the team at least 6 legitimate power threats, which ought to be more than enough. Just for reference, there were only 5 guys on the 2024 team who hit at least 10 homers, though you do have to consider injuries and lack of playing time as being part of the reason for that. But the point is, next year's team should have just as much power as this year's did, if not more. It's just that it might be a bit more balanced throughout the lineup.
