Two men go camping alone in the wilderness to practice their survival skills. After setting up a their tents and collecting some firewood, the two men embark towards the sound of rushing water to try their hand at some fishing. After several hours with no success, the two men tiredly walk back towards camp with only 30 minutes of daylight left. To their frustration, they return to find that their tents are missing, along with all of their gear, firewood, and food.
What happened to their campsite?

Lot of assumptions going on in this riddle:
1. They were not participating in a survivalist show where this was a prank
2. The rushing water was not a flood that swept away their campsite
3. They were not disoriented from their frustrations at being crappy fishermen and lost their way.
4. No mythical creatures like Bigfoot or Sleestak stole their stuff
5. No liberal activist looking for cheap tents and gear stole their stuff
6. REI repossessed their stuff because their check bounced
7. and finally, that I give a @#$% about this #### riddle.

I just kept walking and finally found where some rapscallions had moved everything and set it back up exactly like I had left it at the other site. I was pretty impressed as they had to set everything back exactly like it was. It was a very time consuming and elaborate hoax. They even put my stuff back in a place that looked a lot like the last camp site. I got a good laugh out of it until I passed out and woke up later in the hospital full Narcan.

The men were ice fishing on the North Pole.
After several hours the camp would be the same distance, but the rotation of the Earth put it directionally in a different position.
