I don’t know how much money we have, but nowhere near LSU or TAMU. If they want him they get him!!!
If we get him with a $ Million offer, great, and it will shut up the no portal Clemson program!
An LSU grad told me, LSU lost a QB recruit that they offered $10 Million, and Ohio State offered $12.5 Million and signed him! Really made Brian Kelly mad, cried Tampering!!!

Reminds me of the kind of kid we would have recruited out of HS. A good grades, talented, just not on our radar - nor were we on his radar when he was a HS recruit.
Now both he and us have a 2nd chance. A chance to take a different, unexpected path than what was available to either 2 years ago.
This is a kid that might have liked Clemson, and we him, if the circumstances were different.
The Transfer Portal is not only about money or playing time. It could also be a chance to take a different direction in one's life. To escape a bad relationship, a poor fit in philosophy/scheme, or a need to have a do-over on a decision previously made. Many of us have had these events in our lives. (if I could have changed schools midway through, there is a good chance I would have).
Moving to a new school isn't only about the money.

And, as far as how the current roster receives him, some of the upperclassman DEs might not like it, but I doubt the young guys have much of a problem with him coming on board.

Good thinking.
I betcha that our rising Jr class of DEs are also expecting TJ Parker to opt for NFL draft after the 2025 season, in which case the entire DE group will have an open spot (opposite of Will Heldt) to shoot for.
Maybe only one of our current DEs might be a bit anxious if Heldt joins us.

Just looking at his numbers, he may be guaranteed a starting spot opposite of Parker next year. Or might not be a verbal agreement but just a mutual understanding. I don’t think all the other ends outside of Parker have 5 combined sacks.

Smart DE types are perfect for what we need to pursue via the portal. Not many truly smart DEs that are also high end talent.
The smart portal DEs, of course, want big NIL money, same as the, shall I call them, the short term think8ng portal DEs.
Difference being that the smart portal DEs will carefully consider other factors such as playing on a team with other weapons (such as a TJ Parker, whose presence at the other DE spot will limit the times when the OT and RB double team block him); whether the DEs on the second team are good enough to sustain the defense by playing a significant number of snaps for the starting DEs to get some rest; whether the DT group is good enough to provide the inside push that allows the DEs to feast on the distressed QBs; and whether the DL coaches are good.
Clemson checks all of the above boxes. Whether or not any monetary differences are counterbalanced by the above factors, who knows? Regardless, I suspect that we’ve got a real shot at this guy.
We will have a truly wicked DL if we get him.

It should never happen at Clemson even if the player is considered to be a 12 star player. A free scholarship education with a couple thousand a month for spending money I believe to be more than fair. I know that a lot of people will say that so and so comes from a poor family and the athlete needs money to help them out, well it's not Clemson's responsibility to support and athlete's family, and that's exactly the way that I feel about it. The responsibility of Kids should never be to support the family, and I do mean never!!!

I read your takes and opinions on this forum a LOT, and there's takes i agree with and there's some i disagree with. I wholeheartedly disagree with this take. It's not a "rich or poor" nor is it a "Clemson's responsibility" standpoint, but this is a MODERN ERA of what college football has become - like it or not - situation. NIL is what it is. To be a D1 schools that is an annual contender, Clemson will have to compete financially with NIL in both retention, portal, and high school recruiting. Some of these kids are going to end up making more money than you or I to be a part of this program. And it's not a couple thousand a month kind of ordeal. This isn't "taking care of poor kids", this is becoming an entertainment business with semi pro athletes being compensated for their POTENTIAL performance. I firmly feel Dabo is still holding a strong weight on program standard and character.
But please, and I mean this respectfully, stop with the lowball "they only deserve a degree and opportunity" mindset, unless you want to see Clemson fade into a Wake Forest type of program. They will be paying these kids more than you or I make annually.

He’s better at this stage than any of our DEs not named TH Parker.
Will J.Lawson make another enormous jump in his level of play between end of our CFP run and the start of next season? If J.Lawson pulls that off, then maybe the Purdue guy will be a co-starter.
Will Hoeffler make another enormous huge jump during the summer and by doing so HE becomes the co-starter, who knows?
Regardless, the Purdue guy, in the worst scenario for him at Clemson (barring 8n jury or sickness, of course), will play a ton of snaps and will rack up gaudy stats.
He might end up playing only one year for us and then off to the NFL. Not being a Homer here, but we’re the perfect fit for him.

I don't think its so much we don't have the money as it is we just don't want to spend the money. But I think we're going to have to start picking at least 2 transfers a year to go hard after, at least fill 2 of our top needed positions that can contribute right away.
