+1 0n your post. He is second only to Corso who must have something very damaging on someone at EsecPN to still be on the show. It's embarrassing to watch him every week.

Enough with the coordinator stuff already. Also, why is Ocryo State not under the microscope like Clemson? The double standard is embarrassing.

Because all of the “commentators” for the most part went to or played at Midwestern colleges. Herbie still has the hots for his old school. Makes me sick. He should keep his pie hole shut saving thousand of dollars on useless scholarships.

Different replacement

Again, I'm only trying to help answer your question here, but we are replacing a unanimously-rated top performer at DC with a brand new coach, while Ohio State is adding in a veteran with recent, proven & unprecedented results. They, too, have an incredible amount of talent, and if any of them came to, say, the top-rated message board in college athletics they'd see an absolute dearth of hate & doubt in Clemson's starting QB over Ohio State's QB who already holds some all-time records at Ohio State.
To me, if Clemson's healthy, they're one of the most competitive teams in the country, as is Ohio State. I definitely get it, & it's OK to celebrate.

I agree. Three losses last year and two new coordinators this year would concern any objective observer. I am optimistic, but I understand the concern. Spoiler alert: We are spoiled.

Pitt is making an upgrade at QB (something that seems inescapable here on Tigernet every day) & they return a ton on a league-winning defense.
I've got Clemson all the way, & Pitt isn't on the schedule this year, either, but yeah, it's simply not an illegitimate pick, particularly from people outside the Clemson experience who have doubt in Clemson's starting QB & replacing both coordinators for the first time in a decade, know what I mean?
We have no reason to watch Pitt really, but still, if you're curious or love watching more teams, Pitt should be a lot of fun this year.

This is gold for Dabo to us now & later to motivate his team. Lookout this is a gift that keeps giving, hopefully they share more when we get to the playoffs.
I love it when they make our Tigers mad! Remember 2015, 2016 & 2018! O31O will get a treatment they need from our Tigers in the playoffs for sure!
Let’s go Tigers!
This is like giving the whole team adrenaline for the season. Thank you guys! Herbie might be shocked to see his son win a National Championship Ring!

I'm not convinced THIS is the kind of stuff they use as motivation, you know? We get mad easy, & that's fine, but I don't think they want the team to be so "fragile," so to speak.
After all, Clemson nation itself has been more explicitly hateful to Clemson's starters (rather than just picking another team) than these talking heads, know what I mean?
Bottom line, Clemson controls its destiny to the playoff outright this year again & predictions are only as fun or as infuriating as we let them be. Here's hoping the players can handle it (I think they can & often do).

I love the Clemson pick, but the Baylor pick seems to be exclusively based off last year, which in and of itself had some inescapable luck attached to it (similar to Michigan State, who will also not compete for the league).
Gonna be fun to watch though. Can't wait to see the BIG12 when they add Houston & Cincinnati, too.

But how can Desmond say that about getting a new coordinator with zero experience when Tony Elliott & Jeff Scott went on to the Natty their first season as OCs & won it all their 2nd yr? Iwould understand if we were Rice or UCONN but it's not hard to remember things about a team that was in CFP 6 of the 8 years! Desmond is just a complete idiot.

You can't count on new Coordinators hitting the field running . . . just because a previous one did. Worry about us have two new cords, is legit. Worry about DJ is legit. If any of you are not worrying about these, you're not be objective. I don't think there's much more to worry about . . but these three are real.

Picking playoff teams before a single game is played....

I guess ESPN (and most other sports talk) feels a need to fill their air with worthless bloviating but as for me I find these kinds of "playoff pick" segments at this point in a season a total waste of time.

These guys can’t be serious with these picks. Either that, or they’re really stupid and ESPN would do just as well if they put the garbage truck driver, a plumber, a bartender and a taxi driver on this show. Their historical records speak for itself. Pittsburgh? Wow, wonder if he’d put any money on that?

Consider this

Just playing devil's advocate here as they are sincerely serious.
Kedon Slovis as a true freshman was more productive in his initial year than Kenny Pickett was in his first three combined; it took year 5 for Pickett to reach his talent ceiling.
They lost the best WR in the league, but Clemson also replaced both coordinators for the first time in a decade (it's exceptionally rare in this sport, where we see many programs replace coordinators every year) after having statistically the worst-performing offense in the league just last year.
Meanwhile, Pitt also returns a ton on defense & has stability in the coaches room.
Some see question marks for Clemson rather than exclamation points. It makes sense; they're not nearly as entrenched at Clemson behind the scenes as Herbstreit is, for example. After all, Clemson Nation itself has been more hateful to its own QB than even 3-9 teams like Nebraska last year.
Just saying, it's not hate or disingenuous, & they have to pick someone. I'm picking Clemson to win the league & get at least one player at the Heisman ceremony before the playoff.

Why don’t we all agree Alabama will win it all every year until he retires and only pick 3 more. Seems like it hurts their brains to think that Dabo could be the next Nick Saban...Why Not?

Apparently not.
But I still enjoy this stuff. Des, for example, isn't wrong about Pitt NOT falling off the map with Slovis, but he's not entrenched at Clemson to know like Kirk Herbstreit is, either.
We are... but we still also incessantly doubt our 5-star, record-breaking #1-rated pocket passer in his class as the starting QB for having a bad season (not as bad as Trevor's but still).
Sorry, but I'm all-in on Clemson this year, and with DJU. I'm with Herbie on this one. The team is simply too talented compared to its competition, notably with Notre Dame losing its #1 wide receiver with another ACL tear last week & us having a bye before that game.

Clemson may be the best team in the sport, BUT

Ohio State will be ranked #1 after they beat Notre Dame this Saturday.
Not Alabama, not Clemson, not Georgia, et al.
The writing is on the wall, & we know it but it's up to us whether or not we are actually prepared for it; Clemson may be the best team but we simply don't have the opportunity to be ranked #1 this year without other teams losing games.
I say that's OK as we simply control our own destiny outright, & I agree with Coach Swinney's lessons to us and his players. I love watching other teams play football, too, albeit that's personal. Can't wait until Thursday night (& especially Monday)!
