The rules make sense but no chance they can be enforced.

This does set the table for the NCAA to once again get involved. I for one would like to see them start investigating again. There's a bunch of crapola going on during the recruiting process. It has to stop, because no rules are very bad.

I agree it's tough to enforce however some situations seem to be obvious enough for some action. If a player hasn't entered the portal like the wr for BC and has received NIL offers from schools (which he did) those are blatant violations. If the Pitt WR leaves for USC that seems blatant as well. Texas is giving out Lambos..it's getting ridiculous.

It's going to be a legal nightmare to say Bubba's house of Burgers in Tuscaloosa can't ask that their spokesman has a presence in Tuscaloosa. That doesn't keep the 5 star from attending Tuscaloosa Community College but it does tend to guide them in a certain direction. I wouldn't hire a spokesman and dump money into a TV spot or billboard without knowing that personality will hold some sway in the community I'm marketing in.

chest and reinflate their own egos. They know they have unleashed a monster, and there is no easy way to EVER put that genie back in the bottle now. Any real attempt they make at enforcement now will just get bogged down in the inevitable court cases until well after said athletes eligibility is gone. And, unless schools are completely stupid, there is no paper trail to actually tie the schools to any of the free for all spending being done by their boosters.

If they actually enforce the rule you will see A&M be backed in a corner like SMU in the 80s where they will have to keep paying the players they already struck a deal with or it will get ugly for Jimbo . Hopefully blows up in his face

the SMU situation. When it all came out, one of the biggest nails in SMU's "coffin" was that they said something to the effect of:
"We are honorable men. We have CONTRACTS with these players, and we are going to continue to honor those contracts."
Even though the "contracts" were completely illegal from an NCAA standpoint. They obviously feared being dragged through the court system by players families even more than they feared the NCAA sanctions.

How about coaches tampering?

Coaches who contact players who are not in the portal should face major consequences.

We’ll see just how serious the NCAA is about all this and if they can have any success in getting the genie back in the bottle.

“Well Bless Your Heart” NCAA. You are so cute.
Talk is cheap as there are many schools that should be on probation and some for a very long time

Will they find a scapegoat and flex their muscles to make an example to show they mean business? If they do, the standing of the school will take precedence over the egregiousness of the violation.

Well, let's see if they do anything about the reported 8 players that haven't even graduated high school yet that have been offered, or already receiving a little piece of change to go to a certain school to play.

They should have added something else. If a player at 1 school who was receiving NIL money decides to go in Transfer Portal to go elsewhere, player should not be eligible for NIL MONEY at next school with no exception. If he is getting money, or a better NIL DEAL, someone has contacted player to entice him to go in Portal and be picked up by school with better deal.

am i the only person in the world that saw this NIL stuff a complete disaster? did no one else know that this would turn into a bidding war for the best players? that it would teach the athletes to go for the money now. forget a quality education for free, a well rounded diet for free, housing for free. I want it now (money) I want it this instant and i am OWED it, now! now! now! that is a great way to send these young kids into the world. NCAA what a joke. once they let the cat out of the bag there is no way he is going back in. you cannot enforce rules on this. there will always be back doors, hidden rooms, and people that will be outright dishonest. all at the expense of the student. and now to transfers: simple Make them sit out a year! period! No exceptions! it doesnt matter what race, religion, creed, or sex you are (or claim to be). instead if instant gratification TEACH these kids to be responsible and to carefully examine all choices, and make an informed decision. p.s. coaches dont need millions of dollars to coach.
