Dabo is going to Dabo, and I’m sure he will make the right call as he know what we have in RB room.
If he does go portal… Jaden Ott from Cal- is a stud. Was awesome before last year, had a down year last year due to injury.
Hopefully we don’t need someone like that… and G Davidson and Randall will ball.

Don't we need at least a Top 20 type back?

I don't see it on the roster.

I really hope I'm proven wrong and 1-2 guys break out but to take pressure of the passing game, we need to have a semblance of a threat in the backfield (and it can't all be Cade either).

We have plenty of talent and depth in the RB Room! We need one of them to break-out!!

Personally, I think Randall could surprise all of us from what I have seen. He has the speed and size, along with the moves. The rest can do the job. We don't need to turn Cade into a running back in a 16 or 17 game season!
With Randall in the backfield, we could have a two (2) back sets and let him run into the pattern underneath. It would be like another Tight End or slot receiver on the field finding the open spot downfield.

If we go into the portal, we need a game changing punter, one of the 70-yard types to flip the field.
We had that under Danny Ford with Dale Hatcher, why can't we find another one?? It has been 40 years!

Go Tigers, beat LSU.

First, let be known, I'm not cheering for a transfer to show up in the RB room.

I'm simply pointing out, in agreement, it's an area of weakness on our team and I can see why someone would speculate.

But, to answer your question a Top 20 RB knows he could come in and start on this team. There is no Shipley, Mafah, Etienne or Gallman on this team to beat out for the starting spot.

doesn't make much sense unless you're bringing in some "for sure" starter. And my guess is that this is a long shot at best.

No, i think you're just going to go with who you got. These guys were highly rated guys out of High School. So we'll just have to wait and see who separates.

starter or co-starter quality, and likely only if Davidson isn't really ready to contribute much this year.

I don't feel great about the RB room if it's Randall, Adams, Haynes, and Eziomume with Haynes coming off an ACL repair.

Even now, we are really hoping for major production from a converted WR and/or a true FR. Hopefully at least one of them really hits next year, but that's far from a given. Several years of sub-par RB recruiting may bite us this year, but i don't know if the portal is the answer.

I'm not concerned about the RB production. All the dudes we have can pick up yards. It's the exchange. Reading the DE and whether they know if cades keeping or not. Then, the more important skill is whether they can block and read the blitzer... if not, cades running for his life and worse is getting blown up. That's where we need the experience. But, just have to roll with Dabo.

We have a lot of RBs on the roster

Not a single one of them is really proven though. We have a couple of guys that basically aren't going to play. We have a couple of guys that I probably wouldn't rate any higher than "fine." We have Haynes who looked pretty good in limited action, but is coming off an ACL repair that wasn't done until mid-December. Hopefully he's good to go.

And then the two guys that appear to have the most upside are a converted WR and a true FR - neither of which really have any experience. Randall has 4 career carries from the Texas game, and Davidson obviously has zero. IMO we need at least one of these guys to really go off next year.

1. Read and pickup blitzes and block!
2. Ball security.
3. Run with vision and patience.
4. Catch the ball out of the backfield.

Find the guy(s) who understand this and deliver and you have a good RB.

Don’t think any portal Rb’s are needed with retiring offensive line. With Randall, Zoomie, Davidson and the rest we should be fine.

We may need a punter.

RB room is fine, its just a matter of which one takes the lead and pulls away from the rest. Playmaking Safety would be my upgrade over any other position. RB room is way to full to add anyone else. It'll be the 1-2 punch of Davidson and EZ when all said and done.

Players have agents that are securing NIL deals on their behalf. Once they get a good deal, they leave. It is amusing how the media acts like there is some sort of fair recruiting process going on with the transfer portal. They created a monster and now pretend the monster doesn't exist.

We do NOT need an RB from the portal. Definitely not one from Colorado.

If we need anything from the portal, we might need a punter. That might be the missing link.

I am a bit intrigued with Adam Randall at RB. I can see the potential there, and I think it is going to be hard to bring a 6'2" 225lb guy down. I just think he could be what Todd Gurly was for UGA who was 6'1" 205lb. Just can't wait to see if it translates the way I think it can. Not to mention, he can already catch it in the back field. He could truly create huge matchup issues.

Perhaps this will help

EZ is a baller. He does everything well , including blocking.

Randall may start but EZ eventually takes the spot.

He's a natural RB with great instincts and catches the ball well also

Also believe GD will take the spot by midseason.

He's EZ but better. Anice 1-2 punch

Yeah, I think people are sleeping on EZ. He was a kid we really wanted and recruited hard. He wasn't ready last year, but that's a LOT of Freshman RBs. Him, GD and Randall will be a really solid trio. Like someone else posted, some two back sets will give DCs fits.
