I spent 10 years as Security Police, USAF, law enforcement. Got promoted to technical sergeant (E6) and Air Force made we switch career fields, but it was a good move for me and lead to my retirement from USAF as a master sergeant (E7).

What would be really nice.... i know it is asking a lot but, if those with the military badges could "individualize" them by having the ability to add commands/duty stations where served over their time of service.

Air Force. Graduated Air Force Academy, in for 14 years, was supposed to be in the Reserves at discharge, fell through at the last minute but I had already started a job etc and moved and not an easy way to fix. Still trying to get into the Guard.
Possibly of interest: was out of state to Clemson bc grew up in NC. Dad was Clemson ROTC. I applied, accepted, and if remember correctly Honors College or whatever it was. But ROTC gave me a 3 year scholarship. Meanwhile AF Academy was four. I might have figured out how to get another year paid for. Often I regret not going to Clemson but AFA did open a lot of doors for me including how I met my wife.

I was in ROTC around the same time (‘86-‘90) not a ranger though. I have thought about SGM Aviles often - he was a great man and I learned a tremendous amount from him.

Mr Teal is my Dad. Thanks for the nice words. As you probably know, he spent 26 years in the AF and then another 20 working with the Army. He loved working with the Army and for many years we tailgated with some of the Army ROTC cadre. I retired from the AF after 24 years.

Kudos to you ordinance guys. I spent my year in Viet Nam as a combat engineer and our first job each morning was sweeping Highway One for land mines (IEDs). We also found lots of unexploded ordnance and if it were more than we wanted to tackler ...... like a 500 Lb. bomb next to a village we would call in EOD.
Middle photo is what happens when you miss a mine. Thanks goodness, it was not my platoon that missed this one!

Same here Junior ..... tremendous respect for a tough job! You were doing exactly what we did. We blew everything in place and did not try to either disarm or move anything ..... especially ordnance that could have been booby trapped. But when something like that 500 pounder was too close to civilian population, we called in guys that were used to handling the big stuff.

Hill 411 and Quaing Ngai City in 1970 as a squad from my platoon in Nam went along on a mine sweep and the truck they were returning on was destroyed- carrying cans of gasoline and entire squad died.was a couple of months after I was sent to Walter Reed
