But just think about it, Grady Jarrett was flagged for roughing the passer when he cradled Tom Brady in his arms to keep from hurting or injuring him, and he gets a roughing the passer flag. It's like refs college, and pros all go to different classes on what's a penalty, and what isn't!!!!

First, I love Grady and Shaq, and I wish the best for both of them. I got Shaq to autograph a Clemson helmet for me. Great Clemson Man!
I think they flagged Grady because his sack looked like the 'sling down' on Tua the week before that caused his concussion. Grady's sack looked clean to me, he did not 'slam' Brady's head into the ground like the Tua hit. Grady has made multiple notable sacks of Tom Brady, and they all looked clean to me!
Regardless of what they say, I think that was the reason for the flag. It was a bad call. Unfortunately, the flag likely caused the Falcons to lose.
Shaq's hit looked like a bad hit, and Pickett was just lucky he did not get his knee blown-out on a meaningless play. Shaq hit him late and low, and I would have thrown a flag on that one. It is against the rules in NFL, but they were 'outside the box', but not a 'runner' so they didn't throw the flag. It was a meaningless play, and Shaq should not have hit him, but I know it all happens fast. I would like to think it was a mistake by Shaq, and he tells Pickett that he regrets the hit after watching the replay, but he was going full speed and did not intend to injure him.
I am no fan of Pickett, but he seems to be playing pretty good for Pittsburg. I would rather see Mason Rudolph starting for Pittsburg.
One thing is sure, they will continue to miss calls as long as they play football in the NFL.

Ok, I watched the video a couple of times. Shaq was going after Pickett, outside the pocket, when Shaq stumbled on the turf and his momentum carried him into Pickett's lower leg. Bad luck, is all it is. He didn't target Pickett's knee. He fell into it. Big difference. If he hadn't stumbled and still hit him there like that, then that's a totally different thing, but he didn't. Can't blame Pickett too much for being mad, though, without having the full context at the time. I'm glad Pickett was ok and not injured on the play. I'm sure Shaq is too. These guys are heated competitors, but no one wants to be responsible for a major injury to another player. They all understand how quickly a career can be ended in this game.

Maybe Pickett should review the video before making an accusation.

Your clip was way before the tackle. The QB was standing on the other side of the stripe when Shaq dove for him. Legal- nothing dirty about it.

That was “falling” with style….I’ve looked at that play so many times. Shaq was trying to keep him from getting in the outside. We all know he ain’t catching Pickett in a foot race….clearly didn’t fall.

Shaq stumbled, dragging toe of left foot so his stride was shortened and his momentum carried him forward into Pickett. You can see the turf kick up from Shaq’s left toe as he goes by the OL. He was already committed to the contact but the stumble shifted his contact point to the leg. At full stride Shaq would have hit Pickett high and driven him into the turf possibly causing a shoulder injury. I’d say Pickett should feel fortunate. He was po’d cause his team sucks and hung him out to dry.

And people wonder why Pro Football has lost its luster. QB's are primadonnas and others get too much treatment in their favor (Brady). I understand they want to avoid things like what happened to Tua (which was still more of an organization failure than the sports fault) but something has to give here. If you don't want to get tackled, then don't play.

You called it, TigerforLife.
NFL is no longer a no-holds-barred athletic competition. It has become choreographed theater, in which the headliner actors (the QBs) always 'come out on top' in the end.
Sick of the NFL.

No kidding.
Punkett was in the old Barney Fife role (Andy Griffith Show) ... 'let me at him, let me at him' knowing full well that there wouldn't be any real fight between him and Shaq.
Brave man, that Kenny Punkett. Go take your bubble bath.

Pickett was running away from Lawson and was far enough away that Lawson could only reach Pickett’s lower half after diving for him.
If Pickett doesn’t want a defensive player to tackle him low from behind then he should slow down to let the defender tackle him. SMH.

The real problem is Pickett stinks and that reality is hitting him squarely in the face. He’s not a 24 yr old Sr playing in college anymore. Great to see a second tiger in the vid, Baylon Spector shows up at the end.

I think the reality that is hitting is that the whole team around him is not very good. No QB is going to come in and change that on their first NFL start.

I Heard Pickett Writes Copy For BLM...Rookie QBs Who Call

Out experienced players usually end up in the CFL or in a hospital. The league polices itself. This isn't a bunch of choir boys

NFL doesn't 'police itself' as in days gone by.
But Pickett isn't a 'NFL move star' and probably won't be protected by the Refs ala the Saint Thomas Brady deal.

There are very few options left for a defensive player going
Oct 10, 2022, 10:27 AM
|

after a QB... hit him high and you're "head hunting"... go low and you're trying to "take out a knee"... back off and wait for the slide, and he fakes it and gains enough yards for the 1st down...
About the only thing left is a "bear hug sack" and he gently topples over...

And he jumped to throw the ball. If he didn’t jump the hit would have been closer to his thighs and hip area.

NFL QBs are becoming the biggest divas in all of sports, what’s Shaq supposed to do stop chasing when he leaves the pocket?? Pickett is an absolute clown who caught lighting in a bottle last year and now thinks he’s better then what he really is
