It means that the ring itself is just a piece of metal. Its a symbol of what you did. The experience of what it took to achieve it is what matters. KB is taking the high ground and saying that he didnt earn it...

I can now say that i understand Dabos comments about KB. as a young man, you grow and test boundaries. As a young man, you try to achieve and gain glory. Sometimes, the road is bumpy. Sometimes, you really screw things up. As a parent, when your child makes a mess of things, you dont stop loving them. You help them pick up the pieces, hope they dont permanently injure someone else in the process, and hope they learn and grow some more. I realize this is football, but in some ways this is bigger than football, and i believe Dabo is looking at it that way. Good luck to you KB. May you find the right roads moving forward

per ncaa rules, he is not allowed to receive a ring. championship rings are only allowed for athletes who were eligible to play.

Can anyone say where this topic began? The stories alway start with "Dabo said . . . ". Did he make a statement out of the blue or was this in response to a specific question? Who asked that question? That's the source of this non-story, someone who just wanted to create outrage. I look at it as the media making up stories. Let's name them and shame them.

At first I was for Kelly Bryant getting a ring.
Then I thought about it and decided "That Boy" Swinney put KB first and not the team.
Why am I saying that?
When Dabo first sat in KB's livingroom with his parents, Dabo promised his parents he would look out for their child.
Putting KB before Clemson meant Dabo would be up front with KB before game 5, thus allowing KB to transfer. It was what KB wanted.
Now let's look at it from a team's POV. Dabo had KB as his 2nd best QB & if he was so dead set in doing what is best for him & Clemson, he would have waited til game 5 to tell KB that he would not be starting.
It would be too late for KB to transfer but Dabo & Clemson would have their 2nd best QB still on the team in case they ran into a problem & #16 could not play.
Kelly should count his blessings cause Dabo put him first when it came to his career & the Clemson football program.
Now let's talk about Marshall Faulk. Faulk was playing for Indy in the NFL. The team told him in his 3rd or 4th year that if he ranked in the Top 5 backs in rushing, they would give him a new contract.
Near year end, Faulk was a sure bet to be one of the NFL top 5 rushers.
But ... and it's a big but.
Faulk had never been late to a team meeting. He was always close cause he would sit outside the meeting room til the last minute.
Well one day while sitting there with time to spade, the coach closed the door "EARLY".
The coach benched Faulk. Faulk argued the he was never late to any meeting but the coach wouldn't listen.
Faulk missed the Top 5 by I think 30 yards, thus no new contract.
It was obvious Indy didn't wanna give Faulk a new contract.
Kelly, Dabo didn't treat you the way that coach treated Faulk.

I 100% agree both with Dabo, as well as KB decision to transfer. The Tigers do not even need to have a player on the roster that is not totally all in. I feel the same about Feaster transferring. I hope both Kelly Bryant and Feaster play very well...well except the Tigers vs Coots game.

i am guessing that most clemson people that think he should get a ring voted for obama and hillary and believe that every kid on the little league team deserves to play no matter if they are good enough or not. and then you have people from other programs that just are stirring the pot. fact is kelly quit on his brothers. he is a quitter, nothing more. he deserves nothing.

Finally, a Clemson fan who gets it right. Kelly Bryant is a quitter--he got his panties in a wad because Dabo decided to start Trevor Lawrence. His decision to leave Clemson and abandon his teammates was deplorable. It was all about Kelly Bryant, the team be ######.
I am amazed that so many on this site believe that quitting the team was an admirable thing to do. Unbelievable.
