Ben, whether there is any truth to his statement or not He sounds like a jerk! There will be NFL first rounders from this team as well. What I will say is that we should all appreciate these teams and how much they win. It’s not easy!!!

Negative. If Dabo compared this team to the 2016 squad, then Dabo sounds pretty silly, IMHO. The 2016 team would kick this team's ash, up and down the field.

Just as silly as Dabo getting on news and saying team stats say you win 95-100% of the time and this team should be 4-0. I remember will muschump saying something to that affect, and everyone posted how cootish it was. Sorry, I love Dabo but not a good look.

Yeah they were really good. And since Ben is the one calling people out and talking about NFL players. I will certainly take the bet that both Barrett Carter and Trotter have longer NFL careers than He did. Either way if He is such a great Tiger then He should be supporting the team not trying to pump himself up.

I love Ben B, but I am not sure he cracks the top 10 ten of best and most talented LBs Clemson has had. We have had some straight up talented studs at that position historically.
He might not have even started on the 1991 team with those LBs. Kirkland, Simmons and McDaniels were all ballers.

Regardless of what you say or feel about how bad or good he was, the guy has just as much and more right to voice his opinion about a team that he actually played on than any of US T-Netters, and that's just the facts!!!!

Trotter may be twice the talent Boulware was, but Ben left his mark on every field. Numerous times Trotter has been outfought trying to make tackles. Boulware wasn’t only a vocal locker room leader, but he made those game changing tackles every time. There’s talent, but there’s also what you make of the talent you have. Boulware earned the right to every word he said and he’s 100% right.

He would be the 3rd best linebacker on the team that he is criticizing. Yes the 2016 team lost to Pitt and were also a chip shot field goal miss away from losing to NC State the week before.
If DW or somebody on the 2016 offense wants to take offense to any comparisons then they should feel free. This offense doesn't compare to them. This defense on the other hand is probably better and has draft picks, many of which are 1st rounders all over it. They just held a high powered FSU offense to 17 points and less than 300 yards in regulation. Whether or not anyone wants to admit it, the 2016 defense wouldn't have done that.
If you are going to take offense to a comparison, then you need to be the reason that comparison doesn't fit. Ben Boulware is not that reason.

I did not call him out. He made comments that first were un called for and two just Childish sounding.
Man He should be supporting the team not bashing them.
And I remember plenty of times when people on this very board called Ben Boulwsre out for His play. Busted coverages and what not and I took up for him. You would think He would stick up for the players…. Oh well..

Some of the draft picks that Boulware is referring to didn't come out after 2016. Williams and Watson were the only first rounders in 2017. There were none in 2017 off of Boulware's defense. So we can probably add Parker and Woods if we are talking future first rounders.
I know that it is not 1st rounders but ESPN estimated that Clemson would have 10 draft picks off of this team next year. That would be a Clemson record.
Who knows who might develop into a first round draft pick? There might even be one or 2 from the offense off of this team.
Let me hear the outrage from the 2016 offense. If this team traded Cade and Collins for Watson and Williams, they would beat the 2016 team by 2 touchdowns.

Sometimes, ya just got to call a spade a spade. Most of what ole Bully Ben said is true. Hes not one to sit back when someones twisting the truth. I get it, this team is, possibly, at a turning point and Dabo has to keep it positive. Ben hasnt said anything that most of us havent thought. He kept.it respectful (mostly). Dabo has also earned the right to talk some team flattery. So lets all just roll our eyes a bit, laugh it all off, and go win some #### games.

I think Dabo has been guilty of gaslighting the fanbase about his team's performance as of late. He's not dumb. Seems like he's been full-time babysitting new inexperienced college football coaches, and his players the last 2+ seasons in no small part for the same reason.
I appreciated the honesty.
This team would be better off with a few Ben Boulwares on it. Rough around the edges, and all.

So a slower running back that was not afraid to hit and did good against the run but could not cover in Pass Protection. You think they would be better off with him? Maybe? Or He May have got torched against FSU and Duke. Since Ben is into comparing one team against another and player against another. He probably would be third string on this team. Go Tigers !

Ben didn't start this pisssing contest, he was being asked to comment about a comment that Dabo made about the team that he played on, and he was defending the PLAYERS that was on that team with him. But it was your personal choice to berate him with your comment. In my opinion that makes you uncouth!!! I think you forgot that you were talking about a young man that cried in front of a national audience when telling how proud he was of his team mates on that team!!!!!!!!!!

That's conjecture. BV obviously had him starting for a reason.
The fact is that Boulware was a key starter and beat out bigger faster guys to earn his position while winning a NC, and multiple conference championships at Clemson.

Finally, something that I totally agree with, but everybody that knows a thing about Ben Boulware, they know that there isn't a diplomatic brain cell in his head, and it's always been known that what comes from his mouth is what you get....

I think the difference in 2016 and now is that we don’t have any guys like Ben Boulware. We recruit at such a high level I don’t know if we would recruit a Ben Boulware now. But he he was the heart and soul of that 2016 defense. He was a mad dog. He played with the most fire and passion of any player I’ve ever seen. He didn’t have the speed and skill of 5-star, but he was a #### good football player.

You have to be blind not to see the gulf between prior teams and this one. Not just on field talent but coaching also.
We are ‘hoping’ to win tomorrow and it use to be ‘expecting’ and ‘preparing’ to Koch the ish out of everybody. Maybe this is the cyclical nature of the game…but it sucks.

I've always liked Ben Boulware, but I cringe everytime he refers to coach as simply "Swinney". He does it all the time and it is disrespectful. At least call him Coach Swinney. Id rather hear him call him Dabo than just 'Swinney'

My opinion could come in question on things like bc, I've always with never a change of heart called people by the name that their mom and dad gave them with the only exception being is that I will use Mr or Miss depending on their age when I compare them to my own age... In the military you have only one name, and that name is whatever your last Is....

Tomato, or tomato, a vase, or vase, aunt, or aunt... I's all in the upbringing of how thing were said or done all your life. It reminds me of old habits are hard to break!!! Kind of like if you were raised down a forever dirt road, or in the city of concrete and black top!!!

The truth will ALWAYS set you free. I don’t know WHAT planet Dabo is living on. Right now we will be lucky to have a 7-2 season.Unless SOMETHING happens that would make make me feel differently. Like beating Notre Dame.

Ben is correct. Clemson hasn't been the same since Trevor left. We could lose 4 or 5 games this season. Teams are gunning for us more than ever and it will be a miracle if we ever win another natty.
Also...Dabo needs to stop candy coating the problems we have!

To have Ben Boulware, Spencer Shuey, Dorian O'Daniel, and James Skalski back on the team at the same time. Those guys are definitely beast for sure. However, I believe that many on this team to include those not on the depth chart yet will develop into NFL caliber players by their junior season.

Ben is not one of your “everyone gets a trophy guys”. If you remember Colin Cowherd called out the 2016 team by calling them a fraud. It was great bulletin board material. I wouldn’t say it the way Ben did but maybe this is just what they need. No way The 2016 team would have never gotten blown out by Duke the was this team did. I agree with him.

I honestly don't see that happening when you take into consideration that only 2 to 3% of All college FB players will make it to the NFL on draft night!!!

Sorry Ben this defense is way better than the 2016 D offense not so much but Ben has had a bad attitude ever since he wasn't good enough for a NFL team 🤔

That 2016 team was actually super lucky most of the year and come on Boukware, you need to admit that. They barely beat an average Louisville that got crushed by Houston and LSU and shut down completely. They barely beat Auburn and Troy and yes that Troy, not even a real team. They barely beat chumps like NCState and FSU and VT, so Boulware is talking out his booty.
I understand the frustration with 2-2, but there’s no need for this kind of thing. Dabo is wrong for comparing, but that 2016 team had its problems, too.

To be fair. That 2016 Troy team was solid. They ended up 10-3 and as did FSU. And we already know NC State is one of those teams that perennially wants to give us their best game of the season. Granted we were extremely lucky to win that game against NC State but most national championship teams need luck in some games. But regardless, we found ways to win in those years, even when the cards were stacked against us. Can't really say the same anymore sadly.

Knowing Ben Boulware the way that some of you say that you do, and you will take this chance to bash him, but at the end of the day like it or not "he is" a TRUE 110% Clemson graduate, he is a Clemson man more than most coaches that has ever coached on a field at Clemson university, and there is nothing printed on his diploma/degree that says he is an honorary graduate, he is true Clemson graduate that entitles him to being a real Clemson man!!!

People here have short memories if they don't remember how GREAT Ben Boulware was. He was our defensive leader, and the smartest player on the field. I saw every game Jeff Davis played, was in his freshman English class, and once even helped him out doing a set of shoulder flies (one of us was on each side of the Nautilus machine, basically doing squats trying to help Davis get up his final rep). Davis was a super-stud who was destined for the NFL because of his strength and speed, but in college, Boulware was the better player and field marshall - he would sometimes call an AUDIBLE for the defensive team when he spotted something in the offensive setup, and he was almost always correct.
