Hate to see that. He was pretty much automatic at Clemson. That's what the NFL expects. Very little margin for misses at that level for a kicker. Hope he lands on his feet...(Dr. Evil finger to mouth grin).

Hate to say it, but he really didn’t do that well in Tampa

Catman was just terrific at Clemson, and has had a successful pro career, and will probably be picked up by some team again before it's over, but dang, I wish I could have retired at the age of 26(+/-).

Kicking in football is not a one man operation. The hiker and holder are part of the process. And if he does not catch on with another team, he will always be welcome back with the Clemson family.

That FSU kicker that was automatic turned into hot garbage at Tampa as well.
Maybe it's not the kickers.

Yep, it may very well be the holder from what I have heard. Leaning the ball back is my guess, which doesn't expose the sweet spot of the ball. Should lean the ball slightly forward, especially off the ground. That's on the special teams coach. Two good kickers suddenly having the same issue points to something else in the operation.

So why don't the coaches see this problem with the holder? Seems like it should be easier to ditch a holder than a kicker.

Kickers aren't allowed to have an off day in the NFL, which is sad. He was terrible Sunday but that isn't fixing Tampas problems, he was, after all, the only one that actually scored.

Find this surprising - and sad! Special memories of Catman at Clemson.
