I doubt even with Amanda Butler still being there that she would have been here long. Maybe would have left next year? The only thing she gets by playing for a mediocre program like Clemson is the ability to play against a super program with many star players in South Carolina.

That is your choice but if it was me, I would at least gave the new coaching staff one season bc he comes in with a pretty good track record...

The ladies Amanda recruited had excellent relationships. That's why you're not seeing most of the team sticking.
Neff could have justified it either way but apparently there's a contegent of big donors that wanted a male coach based off what Davis had done. Not realizing what Davis did, wbb was not big at all when he coached. The acc hadn't really embraced wbb until recently.
Anyway, I digress. I really thought Amanda was on the verge of a breakthrough. Ruby was coming into her own and berry is a game changer like a Catlin Clark etc. With the two of them, they could have convinced other great talent to come on board. Now we start over.

women’s basketball and certainly wouldn’t have a preference of gender on the coaching staff.

She sounds like a classy girl who was committed to Butler, which makes sense to me. Makes me sadder that she shifted her commitment, but I wish her well.

Totally expected, but the change had to happen. This program has been paying for running off Jim Davis since that happened. And Butler wasn't making things better. You can point to recruiting all you want with two five-star players, but the players weren't improving under her watch, and the team, during games was a mess. Go back and watch the FSU or Syracuse games this season: totally disorganized and unprepared. That timeout at the end of the FSU game pretty much was the end. Four losing seasons out of sixth and not finishing better than 10th in the ACC the past five years isn't good enough. Poppie is a terrific coach. It will take time to build up recruiting. But this was the right move.

So instead of sticking with my teammates and the university , I will leave and go to another school that I have no relationships with either. Got it.

Gross take. This young lady did nothing wrong. She was recruited by a person that is no longer there, she's not a SC kid. Bottom line, she owed us nothing. And yet she took the time to craft a polite and classy message on her way out. If kids are gonna leave, now is better than two years in and then going in to the portal. So yeah. REALLY poor take on this one.
