I actually agree with him. He gave Dabo credit as being a good coach and even said he might hold a championship trophy again, but not the way he is running things.

My guess is he thought Mr. Riley would come in and inject this aura of eliteness into the offense, but it didn’t AT ALL.

Dabo has some hard decisions to make. Drastic changes will be needed. Its up to him if he can handle that decision.

Finebaum is the same IDIOT that said Clemson would have a hard time staying on the field with Alabama in our last National Championship game. He said that Alabama team was the Best College Football team ever, and Clemson didn’t have a chance.

44-16 and Alabama fans left the stadium. First 15-0 team all time. Finebaum is an idiot.

2-9 in 1975 was an awful season, 9-4 is a down year for Clemson. Georgia’s graduation was 41% _vs 98% for Clemson.
Dabo will get NIL and The Portal figured out, it has been a disaster for many teams.

Let’s get the offense back on track, and we will have a good season.

Go Tigers!!!!

This isn’t about hiring a new offensive coordinator, or a new wide receivers coach, or tweaking our strength and conditioning.

This is about Dabo taking a hard, honest look at himself and his program, and acknowledge that it isn’t working. The reason it isn’t working has nothing to do with NIL, or the transfer portal, or sometimes going through hard times. It isn’t working because Dabo is stubborn and has failed to adapt.

I'm starting to lean to your way of thinking Judge but doesn't your last two sentences conflict with one another?
Yes, if Dabo doesn't change with the times and take advantage of what is out there to improve our roster, teams like N.C. State and others will continue to cause headaches.
Just think, Florida State, Miami and N.C. State were no competition for us 2/3 years ago and they WOULDN'T BE NOW if not for their use of the resources available out there now that we continue to pass on. Beforehand, these teams couldn't recruit compared to Dabo but that was then and this is now. It's not a level playing/recruiting field if you don't use everything available to your advantage.
I like Dabo's philosophy of education, family and God. I also like that he's faithful to his players who have waited for their opportunity for increased playing time. I'm old school, a little old fashion and not crazy about all the fast-paced changes in sports and the world in general but I realize I'll be left behind.....just like our Tigers.

or NIL. It absolutely does.

The point I was trying to make was that Dabo (nor our fans) should blame those things. They aren’t the problem. Rather, Dabo’s failure to embrace them and use them to the fullest to benefit our program is the problem.

It's been a problem ever since the transfer portal and nil deals took off. My real question would be why is the AD not giving Dabo an ultimatum? Like use the tools that have been given to you or get out we'll find someone who will.

Because Neff was brought up through the ranks of the Clemson Athletic department and has bought into the idea that loyalty to the "Clemson family" trumps the business that is college athletics today. It's part of the reason so many of us loved our time at Clemson--it's what makes our program different. But it's also an awful way to run an athletic department in a cutthroat, multi-million dollar college football landscape.

Neff also was a few rungs down in the Athletic Department when Dabo was winning national titles in 2017 and 2019, and he realizes we wouldn't have had the success we had in the late 2010s if it weren't for Dabo. Hard for someone in that position to challenge Dabo, who was Neff's "superior" for so many years--even if that is technically Neff's responsibility now.

The unfortunate reality is that due to Dabo's long and successful run, and Clemson's culture, no one--not Neff, not Clements, not the Board of Trustees--is going to give Dabo any sort of ultimatum or tell him how to run the program. No one is going to hold his feet to the fire and ask the tough questions. It's ridiculous that Dabo is being paid $11 million a year and is immune from any real criticism from a decision maker. No other multimillion dollar business is run this way. But that's where we find ourselves...

Finally some media people are saying the truth. Dabo had a great run. He hasn't evolved. He yells, but it seems like a caricature not a real fire in his belly. We need to face the facts that this is the Clemson of old, good enough for ACC, but not a powerhouse. Fans should be happy to contend for ACC. 95% of collegiate fans have those expectations. Not every team has what it takes to win a title. Sure we can push Dabo out, but what are the chances we'd get someone great to come in? Clemson is not a mecca for head coaches. It's a little podunk town a little bit close to a little town. Boring. Leave Dabo alone and just lower expectations.

I don't think we need a great coach. Just utilize the portal and pay the players. Clemson was at the top prior to NIL with decent coaching, not elite. BV was elite status but he was the only one. Utilize the tools at your disposal and recruiting top 5 talent will return. Simple as that. You can't win a race against thoroughbreds with a mule.

Sad to say but he’s right. Remember how we read about how Dabo kept notes his whole career from the coaches he worked for and had his system and road map to the top and IT WORKED!!
Sadly the rules changed on him mid stream and he had no roadmap for the current state of college football. There’s no way they couldn’t have gotten some guys from the portal if he really tried
I’ve been a Cade supporter but he looked like a HS quarterback last night. If he doesn’t improve over the year and they don’t try and get someone from the port hole the off season that would tell me he’s never going to change

From a guy and conference that are only concerned with Wins and Loses. Dabo is the epitome of a true winner and champion!! He truly cares for his players and wants to educate, train and lead them on how to be better students, players and men and if they can win along the way awesome. The game has changed and I get the reluctance to change along with it. Little ole Clemson will never be able to compete with "big" football with NIL fund raising ability. Our alumni pool is 1/2 if not 1/3 of many programs. Many of the naysayers would be the 1st ones in the portal if it was around back in their day. DHop has been vocally critical of Dabo several times, he defiantly would have transferred from Clemson for the almighty $$. The true Clemson Family knows what Dabo and his staff bring to the University and it's definitely not just about X's and O's and winning football games. Good Luck next week Coach...We support you!!

"Little ole Clemson" found a way to pay Dabo his $11 million salary this year, the second highest of any college coach in the country. It appears Dabo is the one who is chasing the almighty dollar here.

If Dabo is truly interested in the best interest of his players, why not take a pay cut to $2 million (still a 99.9% salary for someone who lives in update South Carolina) and use the other $9 million for NIL deals for the players?

I don't usually agree much with what Paul Finebaum says. However, I think as Clemson fans we all saw this coming when Trevor Lawrence left for the NFL. Also before Clemson got Watson or Lawrence there was a long stretch under Dabo where they were far from elite. If you would have told me after his first season at Clemson he was going to take the Tigers to 2 National Championships. I would have laughed in your face. Unfortunately the pre National Championship Dabo is back. Changes need to be made Garett Riley is definitely not the guy they thought he was so maybe that should be the first change Dabo looks to make. That and actually using the transfer portal. If something doesn't change soon I believe Dabo should be firmly on the hot seat. Although he won't be like Finebaum said. It's going to be up to him whether he leaves or stays. Obviously the athletic director has no problem with keeping a round bad coaches. Brad Brownell is the proof of that.

I mean truthfully I see nothing wrong with anything that was said by either guy. Dabo and the program are not elite and we won’t be elite again without some complete overhauls on offense, scheme, talent, and how we approach the acquisition of players.

The only asinine thing I read was from Booger when he said we haven’t developed guys in the second level. That’s a lazy take, there’s about a dozen former linebackers and secondary guys from Clemson still kicking around in the NFL. We’ve had all Americans and all pros at both positions. That’s just Booger not paying any attention… which isn’t new.

5. When players or plays aren't working, make in-game changes.
6. Stop pretending that moralizing about the old, illegal NCAA system was "the right way".
7. Stop the bunker mentality and be willing to take risks.
8. Start earning every penny of his $11 million salary again.

Unfortunately there are Clemson fans who mix their love for Dabo with their judgment on where the program is and where it is headed. It is truly as plain as day. Times have changed because the elite players are in college to get to the NFL. They are not here primarily for a traditional education, because if they make it to the big time, they won't have to worry about getting a job after leaving the league where their course work at Clemson makes any difference. The job they will get in retirement will involve football. It is their major academically at Clemson, as also happens at other top schools. This isn longer the era where players get second jobs between seasons, or non-athletic jobs after retiring from the professional ranks.

So all those who think things will improve while Dabo keeps the same approach regarding the portal should ask themselves a simple question. If you are elite or close to elite, and you can get NIL money at one school, as well as playing in a top league (there are only two), and having a shot annually for the BCS and a national title, or you can go to a wonderful school, which Clemson is, and play in a second tier league while struggling to be its champion, but have no NIL and not enough highly talented players alongside you to be in the end of year mix, which school would you choose?

We are not competitive, plain and simple, and it shows in every game.

Maybe Mr Finebaum could benefit from therapy and find some relief from the deep insecurity that prompts this childish obsession.
I think this goes back to the humiliation he felt when Clemson beat the “best college football team in history” by 4 touchdowns. Inside he was crying like that woman who’s often pictured on her knees screaming to heaven after Trump won back in ‘16.
