Exactly, nothing is never guaranteed for Clemson playing out of the ACC with one loss Bama, LSU, or UGA playing out of the SEC, and that is the exact reason for a post I posted earlier wishing, hoping for 5 or 6 ACC teams that could compete with us or anybody in the country, and until that happens in the ACC, there will always be instantes like the one we're facing this season as an undefeated team, it will always be who have they played bc, we surely can't count on beating a 4 or 5 loss SEC Texas A&M team, everyone of the top tier SEC teams have beat them also. Tons of pressure has to be put on FSU, VT, Miami, and maybe one more to get their chit together and start competing at our level, or get us the #### out of the ACC and into a real FB Conference, or stop putting all the money into FB, and start throwing it at Basketball and Baseball, or maybe women's softball and be like the coots with one strong women's sport...
College FB has grown leaps and bounds over the past 10 years and is a close 2nd to the NFL as the biggest money making sports at the college level, and at some point, the ACC will have to start competing at the big time FB level, or get the #### out of FB, and where would that leave Clemson, we would be standing alone in the ACC, or we will have to get out of the ACC. Something will have to happen and soon, or we will see what is happening now with the playoff happening a lot more IMO!!!

What the writer, or anyone else in the media, fails to acknowledge...the reason that Wake or Texas A&M are no longer or would no longer be ranked is because Clemson BEAT them. Beating a ranked team can’t prove out to be a negative later.

What I want to know is why should Wake (the #19 team in the country) drop out of the top 25 for losing on the road to what should be a top 4 team at the time the game is played? Isn’t that the result one should expect to see?

I'm not sure if Oklahoma State is a top 25 team or not, but their resume is better than A&M IMO. They have wins over KState, Iowa State, and have a win OOC on the road against Oregon State. Oregon State is certainly not a very impressive win, but it's a much better OOC win than any that A&M has. The Oklahoma State losses are to Baylor, Texas, and Texas Tech who is now 3-5, but was ranked at the time they played.
It's not overly impressive for Oklahoma State which is why I probably wouldn't personally put them in the top 25, but the only thing impressive about the A&M resume are the teams they lost to. It would probably help A&M if any of those losses were close, but the Auburn loss by 8 points is the only one that looked close, and that was thanks to 2 late scores by A&M to make it look closer than it was.
The 6 wins by A&M are Texas State, Lamar, UTSA, 2-7 Arkansas by only 4 points, 3-6 Ole Miss by only 7 points, and 4-5 Miss State.

an undefeated conference champion get left out of the CFP in favor of a one loss team that did not appear in its conference championship game.
Just not going to happen. The CFP would lose all credibility.
Let's just say, for example...
Bama beats LSU handily this week.
Georgia wins out and beats Bama for the $EC championship.
You now have three $EC teams with one loss.
Ohio State wins out and wins the BIG championship.
Oklahoma wins out and wins the Big XII championship.
Utah or Oregon wins out and wins the Pac 12 championship.
Clemson wins out and wins the ACC championship.
Bama is 12 - 1
LSU is 11 - 1
Georgia is 12 - 1 and $EC champions
Ohio State is 13 - 0 and BIG champions
Oklahoma is 12 - 1 and champions of the BigXII
Utah/Oregon is 12 - 1 and champions of the Pac12
Clemson is 13 - 0 and champions of the ACC
As the only unbeatens, Ohio State and Clemson are absolutely in IMO.
So...who gets left out?

I don't get the shock people have over Georgia being #6 though. Yes the loss to South Carolina was bad, but they were able to overlook our loss to a 4-8 Syracuse team two years ago to rank us #1 due to us having several wins over top 25 teams. Georgia has wins over #10 Florida and #15 ND based on the rankings released last night. Sure, we can debate whether those teams deserve to be ranked that high or not, but based on those rankings the other 1 loss teams just don't have the same quality wins currently. I do think the winner of Utah and Oregon would jump any 1 loss team from the SEC that doesn't win the SEC Championship.

I hear you, but also consider that the team that is hurting Clemson (UNC) is also the team that beat South Carolina, who gave UGA only loss. The ranking of Clemson at 5 is a joke. PSU almost lost to Pittsburg? Why didn't they consider that. Anyway, Minnesota going to beat them this weekend anyway, so that's that. Just BS regarding the bias. Sickening.

It's because Penn state is getting credit for beating Michigan and Iowa who are both in the top 20, although I don't think any team in the top 10 would have any problems with either of those teams. I hope you're right about Minnesota, but looking at their schedule and seeing the results doesn't give me a lot of hope for that.

i thought the same thing, they were all over the board with their reasoning, clemson being punished for barely escaping north carolina, but Georgia loses to Carolina and only one spot back, but then oregon who is being georgia loses to Auburn who is ranked number 11, seems like the bias was there for sec, cause oregon should have been above Georgia , cause that's much better loss than the Carolina loss, Notre dame has slipped bad and that win by georgia shouldn't be valued as good but they are keeping notre dame valued for sec favoritism, i did research today on all the teams in top 5 , their combined win and loss records for their opponents, Alabama has the worst win loss record of opponents than any team in top 5. Their opponents have only 28 wins and 41 losses. Clemson was second lowest with 38 wins, ( but that is 9 games where as eveyone else has 8) so take away the last team clemson played, it still puts them ahead of alabama, with 33 wins. and 37 losses.. Ohio state and Penn state had the two best record with LSU third,, just a thought that wonder why they didn't consider some of that

Look back at history. 2017. Ohio state won the big 10 championship but got left out in favor of bammer. Bammer had just been knocked out of the sec championship when uga beat them. Uga then won the sec. Yes. Ohio st had 2 loses early in the season. My point is that just because we think we should be in doesn't make it a reality. Media has been all over us for the most minor and inconsequential details, yet they allow others all the leeway they can. They just dont want us to beat mighty bammer AGAIN.

Leaving out a 2 loss team is way different from leaving out an unbeaten team. I think most of us figure we won't get in at 12-1 even with an ACC Championship. Not only did Ohio State have 2 losses that year, but one loss was by 15 at home to another playoff team, and the other was by 31 points to a team that finished 6-6 that season.

Clemson needs to punish the rest of their opponents , even Suck a lina, and leave no doubt, dont let these teams score these meaningless touchdowns in fourth quarter to make it not look so bad, time to really stomp the gas on the ROY bus..

You are talking about the undefeated ACC champion that has beat everybody in the ACC, and if those team were put in a redeem match up again right now, we would beat them worst than we did before, and all but the one in UNC, we have already beat them by 30 or more points, and we would beat UNC today by the same margin, and that is what is being said. We may even beat every team in the country by the same margins, but bc we haven't proven anything by beating up on a very weak ACC, we haven't had a chance to prove how good we maybe, and that is exactly what is being said, it's not our fault, it's the conference we are in and play in, it's the fault of our relationship in the ACC. We are the ONLY competitive FB team in the ACC, and that is all the country can see when they look at our record, and beating what will be a 4-5 loss team of the SEC in Texas A&M!!!
Nobody hates the position that we're in playing FB in a Basketball conference, but the truth is the truth, and the facts back it up. Is there a Clemson fan anywhere see or hear anybody at the ACC Head Office saying to any school in the ACC that if they don't bring their FB programs up to a standard other than embarrassing, that they won't be in the sharing of the money brought in by lets just say Clemson. No we don't, and we won't bc nobody in the ACC head office really give a crap about FB bc they believe that FB is a rough, tough Redneck sport that they don't care to associate themselves with, and especially if it means having to rub shoulders with the FB jocks!!!

But then they forgave UGA's loss? To SCAR? A team that lost to Tennessee (that lost to Ga State)? A team that UNC beat? The UNC team that Clemson BEAT, albeit with a much smaller margin that was comfortable?

And Bama's schedule to date is no stronger than Clemson's. The common opponent, TA&M, Bama beat by 19. 47-28. Clemson beat them in week 2, while other teams were still playing their cupcakes, by 14 points 24-10, but recognizing that A&M scored their only touchdown with 0:03 seconds left in the game when Clemson had 3rd string defense on the field.
"Eye Test" doesn't make any sense when you can be arbitrary and ignore anything that is contrary to the predetermined outcome.

The question is what constitutes a close game? An 8 pt win, a 15 pt win, a 21 pt win where we score last? I would also like to ask the committee just how many points did we need to beat UNC by to be #1, #2 or #3 because there definitely appears to be a sliding scale with us but not Penn State or UGA. All of the negativity towards us is based solely on expectations versus outcomes. We are a victim of the thrashing given to ND and Bama LAST year, not on the performance this year.

Andrea is pointing out something that reflects directly on the Committee and that is the fact that the Committee, during the final meeting, could be penalizing Clemson for being in the ACC. Perception should have no place in determining if a team is worthy of being in the final four. If Clemson is the undefeated ACC champion, they have met all of the requirements to be included in the final four. There is no requirement that a team must have defeated a predetermined number of top 25 teams. That element has been introduced by the committee.

is being a conference champion (which is supposed to hold weight). An undefeated power 5 conference champion has never been left out. Ohio State leap-frogged #3 and #4 in the final poll of year one because they were a conference champion. If Clemson has a better record AND a conference championship and gets left out, we need to burn something down.

Remember- she is an ESPN “analyst” and she is spouting the company line. ESPN’s wet dream is to have three SEC teams and Ohio State in the playoffs. Plus they don’t want little old Clemson whipping their fair haired child again. ESPN has never recovered from 44-16. Plus- remember ESPN is part of the main stream media and never underestimate their hatred of Dabo’s open and up front Christianity.

And yet, with all of this hand wringing, Clemson has been in the playoff four straight years, won two Nattys and still has a good shot at it this year. Much of the media commentary is for effect and to create controversy. Perhaps some of them genuinely dislike Dabo and Clemson. But the cream always rises to the top. And the Tigers are the cream of the crop! GooooooTigers!!!!!!!!!

So every ESPN employee hates Christianity? It's really weird then that they spent so much time during our last game talking about Trever Lawrence and his faith. It's also weird that they have employed Tim Tebow, or that I've seen countless athletes thank God after wins. Geez, some of you and your conspiracies...

And there are something like 25,000+ people who thing that the University of South Carolina is an acceptable educational facility.
Stupidity is remarkably common.

I'm surprised that nobody else pointed out that she mentioned LSU losing a close game to Bama coupled with us winning another close game and that keeping us out...
Unless someone is figuring on Baylor going unbeaten then wouldn't that example alone simply move us down to 4th in the final rankings?

The rhetoric being spewed by the media is starting to become somewhat sickening in that it is causing implicit bias. If Clemson goes 13-0 there's no way, no how, no reason they should not be in the top 4, and I would say this about any power 5 school. Furthermore I know that last year's results don't count, but a defending National Champion going undefeated through the regular season and winning the conference championship the next season and being left out would be unprecedented.
Obviously I don't think this will happen, and am not going to lose sleep over it. However, my point is that this media bias should be addressed as it's an actual issue affecting the rankings similar to how bad calls by the refs can affect the outcome of games.

Knew this was coming. Once the 1 loss And no chance hypothesis Was floated, metastasized, and became accepted realty the “undefeated and don’t get in” idea would be next.
I’m actually getting a little worried whereas I wasn’t a couple weeks ago because this narrative about Clemson being undeserving is snowballing and we know how in today’s society things happen FAST. It doesn’t feel good right now.

The only way it could possibly happen is...OhSt AND LSU

would both have to lose very close games to PA St and Bama, then both finish 11-1 without winning their conference titles! An unlikely scenario, but it is conceivable!!

in the rankings. It should count what their ranking is at the time you play them. if ranking count, then it is when you play them. Otherwise, they shouldn't count. There are too many holes, that can be proven, when only caring how they finish.

I would not have thought Andrea would be the one buying into the "company line". I had more respect for her than that. They must have threatened her job if she did not "go with the flow" on this deal.
