Bob Anderson is one of the best in the business. He's been working with NFL players and other star athletes for decades.

There are excellent foot & ankle orthopedic surgeons at Cleveland Clinic but Bob Anderson is similar to Jim Andrews or one of the Jobe family. He just specializes in foot & ankle which is nowhere near as sexy and marketable as doing “sports medicine”. For years I would send patients with ankle arthritis from north Georgia to Charlotte to talk with him if they were interested in ankle replacement with the instructions “If he says you shouldn’t do it, then listen to him and don’t go shopping for a surgeon who will just tell you yes.”
As an aside, I saw a report (which I didn’t verify) that Kirk Cousins and Aaron Rodgers were the first NFL QBs to return and start after Achilles repair. It’s not unprecedented, but it’s rare and probably more difficult since DW4s mobility and speed are a bigger part of his success at the position
Wish DeShaun the best after such a performance altering injury 🙏

Amen. He was a model citizen and player while here and was integral in bringing us back to the national spotlight. He got caught up in some really stupid activities. A big part of it was that he wasn't charged with any crimes. Until he does something really bad again, I'm going to give him a break. Hope he comes back to Clemson soon. He's welcome here in my book.

Hope recovery goes well. Wishing the best for you, DW4. Unfortunately, I believe his best days are done. Surgically repaired tendons are never as good as they originally were. He's been out so much, and this season showed he was really struggling to compete. More time removed will hurt his resurgence even more. I hope I'm wrong. Either way, financially, he's set. Just hate for him to go out this way.
Go Tigers, everywhere!!!

Considering my experience with ACL and tendon surgeries, what doctors have said, no. Everyone's experience is their own. Tendons and ligaments that are surgically repaired are almost never back to normal. He is playing a very physical game, one that is extremely demanding that players be in peak health. However, even if his Achilles is back to 100%, he is missing more time. Time that he desperately needs. His game was two years removed, coming into this season, and we can see how much he has fallen off from his best days. The more time away, the more time it will take for his game to improve. At this point, the ONLY reason he was still starting this season was because the Browns were so deeply in debt to him

When I had knee surgery from a soccer related injury

… my doctor said, “no matter how good a job I do, it will never be as good as what God have you.”
This was after my “highly competitive” playing days and I played another 8 years of “competitive” ball without any problems.
I hope Deshaun has the best recovery and outcome possible from his surgery and plays pro ball for many years.

You were lucky. I can give you numerous accounts of people having to have multiple surgeries for ACL, on the same knee. A Dr is not about to say that his work isn't as good as the original, if there wasn't a lot of truth. I really hope DW4 is better and gets back to his pro bowl years. My comments were aimed more at real game playing time. He's having a horrible year, probably because of his time out of the game. More time away is not going to help.
