lanes will open up for Feaster and Etienne. Safeties were cheating up on the run game.

I'd like to see some of the QB carries go to the backs

Even if its just a few per game. Bryant had nearly as many carries last year as feaster and etienne combined and averaged about half the YPC.

He was very predictable, since he wasn't much of a threat to throw the ball down field. I hope that changes this year, but if the Spring Game was any indicator, his down field passing ability still is suspect. I hope we don't let that cost us a game/s while we continue trying to force him to be a downfield passing threat. Hopefully, if he is "The Guy", he will be a more well rounded QB than he evolved into last year. Of course, our OL and backs need to do a better job blocking, as well, but when he became one dimensional, it was easy for defenses to load up making it extremely more difficult for our O-line.

Have you actually went back to each game of last season, and counted the times that KB, Etienne, Feaster, and Choice carried the ball though out the entire season. I haven't either, but I would almost bet that our QB Kelly Bryant would have a higher carry percenage than any of our Running Backs through out the season. My thing is this, if KB called his own number to run the ball as much or more than our RB's, why is he our QB, why isn't he a RB???

Very good, and what I done when I looked up this information, I also looked at how effective the RBs were compared to KB, and the RBs had gotten a lot more yards with less carries than KB made with more carries!!!

KB kept the football a lot of times when he should have left it in the RBs belly. We had color commentators telestrating that on TV last year. He "called his own number" many times when ETN or Feast would've been a better option.

You have to see the replays of the plays in question to see clearly. The read-option is all based off the correct read that the quarterback makes on the unblocked DE. If he makes the wrong decision it's little to no gain. If he gives when he should have took or vice versa it's a busted play. I guess there's no way for us to know how many times that happened. But it appears that happened a lot just based on numbers. And the fact that commentators were pointing it out last year. And what us dumb laypersons can see. Hopefully with another and spring and summer under his belt he will if I'm approved in passing and his decision making.

Yeah, a lot of that goes to making the correct read from the QB. Lot of times KB kept the ball and the read from watching TV was to the RB. It was at times like watching Kobe in his last year run the Laker offense, I got the dang ball and I am keeping it. SOme passing downfield would also help, something other than a bubble screen would be nice too.

Just as long as we don’t get predictable the running game should be good for 200 yards a game. We need to make SURE that our WRs are getting the ball. This will make teams drop the LBs in coverage opening up the Run for big chunks at a time.

I'd say most of his run plays were intentional. He wasn't, or at least he didn't look, comfortable throwing anything downfield after his injury. JMO

Taking out sacks, Football Study Hall has Bryant down for 5.1 yards per carry with 854 yards on 166 rushes last season.

Simple.
Coaches should just call fewer read options--DW4 was a virtuoso at the RPO whereas Kelly Bryant does not read the defense particularly well--and more designed runs with the RB (Etienne or Feaster) in action.
Those designed runs will work better once the field is opened up through passing attack, obviously.

Well, I've been....

watching most of the games over and over again during the off season and I've noticed numerous errant throws, esp. on the long ball from KB. It appears after a few missed throws, he is all too eager to "tuck & run". I guess I saw it during the actual games, but re-watching those games has really "bought it to light". That pattern is what sunk us in the NCG vs Bama, along with the fact that since KB couldn't connect on the Long Ball, our Offense became very vanilla. It definitely needs to be corrected!!!!!!

I'm guilty of using the same terminology a lot myself here on T-Net when we will say, so and so could have started for most/any school in the country. And it wasn't that long ago when we were saying what do our coaches see in this or that recruit bc, they would never play a down at SCST, so why have we recruited them, or signed them... My how things have changed since hiring Dabo to lead our Clemson Tiger FB program!!!

Well, call me slow, but the most sure-fire way to get the ball to your hotshot RBs more is to change the guy responsible for getting it to them.
In fact, I'd say it's the ONLY sure way to do it.
I'd also say that's the best way to get the ball to your potentially All-American WRs more often, too.
But Dabo's coaching staff are too professional to start a media firestorm by criticizing Kelly. But they are leaving a trail of breadcrumbs, aren't they?

You're right. And Dabo's staff handle personnel questions very well, never forgetting their own personal relationships with the guys just to give T-net a pot-stirring interview that would crush the souls of most young men.
Just saying that the staff are laying out enough breadcrumbs so that, if the inevitable decision has to be made to change QBs, it will be obvious to all teammates and fans alike why. Likewise, if the change is never made this season, it will be because Kelly was coachable enough to work with a different game philosophy than they had or let him use last year.

Too much time was spent trying to keep 4 running backs happy

I think something that kind of hurt us last year was splitting all the carries between 4 guys. Fuller and Choice were solid, but not the threat that ETN and Feaster are. With Fuller gone, they now add Dixon into the mix (Who I'd like to see RS). The staff has always been really high on Choice and I think the goal will be to mix carries between our primary 3. Personally, I'd rather see the majority go to ETN, maybe a 60-40 split between he and Feaster, which Choice coming in from time-to-time around the goal line.
ETN is too big a threat to keep sidelined while other guys get their allotted carries.

I agree that Choice is our best RB at getting that couple of yards for a first down but, with a stoudt OL, Adam Choice can run through arm tackles better than any RB we have. He is like a tank when a powerful RB is needed!!!

You can take the pressure from an agressive D front 7 by completing passes down field. It works 99% of the time!!!

I wrote a few months ago that i believed this team needed to get both rbs involved in the passing game. It just makes sense and adds a new wrinkle to the offense that we didn't have last year. But then again we didn't have the services of Garett Williams.
