Clemson running back entering transfer portal
Junior Clemson running back Michel Dukes has entered the transfer portal, TigerNet has confirmed. Dukes entered the 2021 season with 205 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 40 carries. However, he was not high on the RB depth chart with the emergence of youngsters Will Shipley, Kobe Pace, and Phil M Read Update » |

Not a surprise.
Shipley, Mafah, and Pace will be great for the next few years for us. We're really gonna have to land Trevor Ettiene now.

It will probably help LSU for that turd to be out. First of all, who can understand anything he says? I can pick up about every third or fourth word.

Wow. Maybe you should practice your listening skills. Just because a person has an accent doesn’t make them less intelligent. I’m from the Deep South and have endured that ignorant stereotype my whole life

It's hard to believe that a kid like Trevor Ettiene would commit to LSU without a HC certainty, I mean with all the talk about this being Ed Orgeron last season as HC at LSWho.

This is the easiest we live in. In the long run the ones that will be hurt the most by this will be young black men. They’ll continue to get bad advice from family members telling them they need to be. Starting because they all think they’re going to the nfl. 1.2% of players in D-1 and FCS HAVE NFL CAREERS LASTING THREE OR More years. The rest where two they go? But now like you said if they don’t get what they want they transfer. This is America. This and the NIL will destroy the greatest sport in America.

Get over yourself, you self-righteous Neanderthal.
College athletics are one of the best ways for the economically underprivileged—by all measuring sticks, minorities are more often underprivileged than whites—to achieve financial windfalls at a young enough age to make a difference in breaking the cycle of poverty, if the money is handled well.
That is a good thing for all involved, not a reason to cry “Racism!”
Commenter is only reflecting on the fact that 18- and 19-year olds are going to be urged to ignore the need for patience and developmental opportunities in favor of a quick paycheck that may or may not be in their best interest. But you can always bet that the parasites in their lives will be pushing them toward the quick money. And there’s always parasites; that’s one of the reasons some people are disadvantaged.
But, by all means, why don’t you give us a tutorial on the economic disadvantages of bad financial advice? I bet you have first-hand knowledge.

Real question. Please educate where you see anything racist with the post issuing concern about you African American males not completing their education by risking the NFL.
Mind you not sure this applies to the portal as they are transferring to a school where maybe they can play and still finish their degree. This applies to all players.
Best of luck to Mikey. I will be pulling for him.

Not implying that I’m the only commenter who knows anything about what minorities or disadvantaged young people go through, nor do I find my education to be complete. That’s why I’m always talking to people outside my bubble so that I can prevent my stew from stagnating.
I AM EXPLICITLY STATING that the Tigernet boards are friendly, thoughtful and diversified enough that we don’t need the adolescent Racism Police to tell us when to “check” our arguments or our privilege. If the OP thought he had a point to make, and it turned out to be factually incorrect, I’m sure commenters will let him know without all the “Been a member for years but never comment except on race-based threads” fans coming out of the woodwork.

Economically underprivileged was surely the case for me when I was coming up as a kid, and way back then, I was a white kid with that disadvantage, and there were many more just like me, and my family.
So I don't that the race card should be attached to just the black race. I mean that's just the way I see it, and that is bc there are many whites that fit into the economic disadvantages also, and probably more so when you take into account the population of white America vs Black America!!!!

Actually, it was a racist post because there was no need to bring up anything referring to hurting African-American men because the family tells them they have to go to the NFL. As an African- American, although I am pure American born, I was never brought up with the belief that I had to be in the NFL or the NBA. I was never told I had to be an athlete because that's all I'm good for. Just because the man, as a junior, wants to try to get more playing time you want to try to rationalize this as a failure for black men. But, when a white athlete, for instance Chase Brice, transfers it's all happy wishes and best of luck. Yes, statistics will be higher for the failure of blacks in professional sports if there are more blacks in the sports. But, there is no need to mention any ethnicity failing in their dreams if the article had nothing to do with it. Of course, you may be one of those who thought they was a superstar in high school until a black person took your roster spot and have been butt hurt ever since.

Why are you making this a black man issue? I guess you made that statement because those are the gentlemen that are entering the transfer portal (I guess you missed the young white men entering the portal). It could be these young men are transferring, because they want to play now, the atmosphere has changed from when they first joined the team, and/or they have dreams of playing at the next level. Because they are not 1st, 2nd or 3rd on the depth chart doesn't mean they're not NFL caliber. Some of the players on the field are not the best talent,, but are connected to the decision makers. We are becoming a team of nepotism to be honest. Nepotism is turning this program into a transfer portal merry-go-round. The mediocre performance on the field is proof enough.

Rencher?
None of the RB are related to any coaches, so I guess Rencher would closest to being part of the family, so I guess you are referring to him being on scholarship and hanging around for an extra season.

Nothing or nobody can screw college sports up no worst than the NCAA has already done just in the last 4 or 5 years. The NCAA is what has taught young men, and ladies that commitment only means for just one season, and they can walk away from the NLI like it never happen!!!

transfer portal to get more playing time at another school. What gets me is that so many of these young men just quit in the middle of the current season knowing they won't actually be able to enroll until the spring semester at some new school.
I can understand leaving immediately if there is a family issue of some sort but if it is purely a move to get more playing time - why not stick it out through the end of the fall semester - who knows what can happen. Maybe I'm just old fashioned about things, but I was always taught to finish what I started and when these young men leave the team mid-way through the current season for the transfer portal they have the air of "quitter" about them.

What are they going to tell the coaches? Don't play me in the 5th game so that I can transfer to another school after the season is over and not lose a season? Coaches will just say, "peace out, don't bother coming to practice or our weight facilities anymore"

They definitely do have top tier players that transfer out. Two 4 star players transferred out this year so far, and about 5 or 6 3 stars.
About 4 or 5 4 stars last year. We aren’t alone in this.

Eight Alabama players entered the NCAA transfer portal either during or after the 2020-21 season in defensive lineman Ishmael Sopsher, linebackers Ben Davis, Ale Kaho and Kevin Harris, defensive backs Turnage, Williams and Eddie Smith and kicker Joseph Bulovas. Sopsher transferred to USC, Davis transferred to Texas, Kaho transferred to UCLA, Harris transferred to Georgia Tech, Smith transferred to Illinois and Bulovas transferred to Vanderbilt.

I don't know the exact number of Bama players, but you left out Keilan Robinson who is also at Texas. So, there's at least 9 then. Point is, players are leaving everywhere because of this silly transfer portal.
But, that's not what's ruining college football. In my opinion, it's the refs. Check out the ending of the Tennessee-Ole Miss game from Saturday. That was clearly a first down and Vol fans pelted the field with bottles and all kinds of garbage and I really can see why. Refs shouldn't be allowed to work another game with calls like that.

Not saying the “Portal” hasn’t impacted AL, because I’m sure it has, but their philosophy has been very different than Dabo’s for quite a while, just like many others. If you are not on the 2 deep, scholarships, may not (probably are not) renewed at other schools. Dabo does! It’s the world in which we now live. Dabo is very good at honoring his commitment to the players he offers, and to their parents, and that can be verified by the way he stays on them, even after they leave, to offer to help them come back and finish their degree. That is a promise he makes to their parents. I know of no one else who holds people to promises made, and who honor commitments, like Dabo Sweeney. He is the best!

No doubt about it and no doubt he tried his best to talk all of them out of leaving. Probably why he made that comment today about not asking in the future, he already knew what was going to hit.

Don’t know who’s tracking this crap but we have to be among the most affected by the portal. By the way, didn’t he learn anything from the Dixon deal? Could be the starter in days the way injuries happen. At least stick with the team till the end of the season. Sheesh. Oh and best of luck.

No surprise there. Would be a good player for Furman or Wofford.

Dang, one of my favs. Team up with Joseph and both go to coastal... My best wherever you land. Thanks for your contributions to Clemson. Once a Tiger, always a Tiger.
As explained to me last night in the JC portal thread, leave now so he has this year as eligibility.

Something was up with him. He missed some camp as I recall and always seemed to be behind this year. Injuries and departures resulted in less rather than more PT. I kept hoping he would get it going but it never happened

Having as many lost fumbles as TDs doesn't help PT either***

Good luck big Mike. Clemson faithful appreciates you sticking with us as long as possible in a ridiculous RB room of talent. Hope you find a good system to prosper brother.

Pace mafah rencher I like dat big 3 y'all are great. And when Shipley gets back you will be elite. Can't name one running back that left us that I miss. Feaster and I haven't heard nothing about Bowman. Only player that's left us that's going to be NFL will be DK

Could he not been given a try at slot? I liked him and had high hopes as a late pickup. Wish he would have stayed and wish we could have seen more opportunities. I watched several videos from HS and he was pretty good although being private schools.
Sad to see this turnover. Dabo needs to earn his money this year!

Why does TNET keep bringing up Demarkcus Bowman? He transferred out last year and wasnt even active on Clemson's starting roster this fall. If players fall way down the depth chart they have the opportunity to leave. Wouldn't you leave if you knew you were not going to play? I know I would.
