The police force needed on campus to deal with their trash fanbase wouldn't have been available.

My opinion here, but they shouldn’t have had brought in 80,000 fans to Clemson for the game yesterday. The local community needed the support the university could have provided, many of which are students and employees. The university put fans coming from all over the country over them. Sure some fans were already in town, but many drove in from places yesterday with power and water. The fact they are opening the university for the community today shows they should have done it yesterday. If Clemson fans can’t see helping others is more important than a $100 ticket, we need to understand what is actually important in life.
I hope everyone who reads this is safe today and if you are still effected, I pray power is restored and your damage gets repaired soon. We are One Clemson and we should all help each other in times of needs.

I live in Charleston. After Hugo I had no electricity for just over 2 weeks and no cable for over a month. Clemson residents who do not currently have electricity will have it in a day or two. The fact that DV was pretty much full last night indicates many people thought it was worth to extra trouble to chase down some gasoline and leave earlier than normal to fight the traffic and a few downed trees to attend the game. I know of no life threatening situations in the upstate due to the storm. The decision not to cancel the game has nothing to do with the reason you don’t have electricity at your house. I applaud the fans who attended the game last night.

I’m a die-hard Clemson fan. I respect your opinion. Here’s mine. 1.The people that came to the game wouldn’t have come if they didn’t want to or thought it was too unsafe. Clemson University Didn’t bring in 80,000 fans. Fans chose to come. No one forced them. #2 The University DID use and give the support the community needed. They went forward with the game in a Stadium that has lots of Restrooms, and tons of Concessions that provide food, drink, snacks and water. Your statement,”The University put fans coming from all over the country over them.” (I presume “them” being Clemson). So yes, you are correct there. The University put fans/people Above Themselves (The University) by providing what I said at the beginning of this statement. #3 Clemson opening some facilities to the Community on Sunday should have happened yesterday. Community means what it means. It does not mean anyone from all of SC, NC Or California . Seems to me that by going forward with the game, the University offered help to more people throughout the State including some Stanford from California and fans that live in SC that I personally had conversations with yesterday! And we (my family, wife, myself, 2 children and a half-sister n law that lives in my house)are still without electricity at 1:55pm Sunday. At least it’s not hot outside today. I myself was at the game yesterday. I live 1hr and 45 from Clemson. I took 26 to 385 through Mauldin (of which still did not have electricity at 1am when I drove through coming home) got on 85 to 76 straight in to Clemson without any problems of trees, lines, poles or what have you. I had 2 tickets that I paid $50 a piece for in the West Endzone. The individual that sold me the tickets GAVE me the parking pass. I was in Clemson at 1pm. It was my intention to get there as early as possible even before the storm hit Thur. My son was supposed to come with me. Last yr he and I went to 6 of 7 home games. We had the best times together on those Saturdays and some wonderful memories from ALL 6 games were experienced and will hold in our memories for as long as God allows. And last thing here. Here’s what happened yesterday. I went to the game alone. My son choose not to come because his OVERLY OBSESSIVE WORRIER of a mother drilled it into his head that it was too dangerous for us to go. He’s 21, so he can make his decisions. I wasn’t angry at him for not going, still ain’t. Never will be. I am angry and T’d off at his mother, my wife, as he is our son. I was sad he wasn’t with me. But I still had a very nice day, walked around campus, went downtown, bought a few things and enjoyed the game. Seems to me that if I had 4 tickets (well, maybe 5-half sister n law 🙄🙄for yesterdays game) we all would have had a Much better time in Clemson than sitting around the house that has no electricity and/or working in the yard picking up limbs. That can always wait for another day. Which is today. God bless you. And I hope you are Well.

Having been in Greenwood yesterday, I have to lament the waste of fuel that 80k people driving into Clemson represents considering there is no fuel at all in Greenwood or Saluda Counties and the situation is extremely hazardous to residents and responders. Augusta is bad as well, according to social media. Hundreds waiting in line to try to get gas for hours only to be told there is none when they get to the front of the line. I love my tigers but this was a poor use of currently very scarce resources in the Upstate and exacerbated already unstable situations in these communities.

We drove in from Atlanta and were shocked at the difference in impact from there to here. So many of our friends in the upstate are still without power. But I do feel for the university - not playing the game doesn’t mean there’s a significant redistribution of resources as a result. The two are not correlated. It would have been purely a pr decision. I wish it did make a difference because I’m confident Clemson would have immediately cancelled and I would bet Dabo would have his team helping in some way.

I understand the sentiment, and don’t necessarily disagree, but for me it was a personal decision to go to the game and a welcome distraction from the 30 trees down around my house and property and spending a day and a half with my chainsaw just to get out of my driveway. I think for most people, going to the game did not take resources away from anyone else.

what’s even worse is from all the whining and complaining, Clemson must have went to folks home and held a gun to their head and made them come to the game. I was and most were dang glad to go somewhere that had power and food. If you didn’t have the gas to get there then you should have had the common sense to stay home. After cutting trees for the previous 2 days, i enjoyed yesterday’s game about as much as I’ve enjoyed one in a while.
How about people get the freak off facebook complaining about every single thing and go help someone out .

Agree 100%. Seemed like a good opportunity for many to halt cutting trees, mopping basements, getting around with lanterns, and compare notes, commiserate, express concern for friends....and of course...kick some cardinal ###.

The town of Clemson and many of its residents depend financially on the revenue generated from the team's home football games. If conditions in and around campus were safe enough to manage the traffic, it seems counterintuitive that, on top of the burden from storm damage, the town should also be deprived of that revenue at a time when it is most needed. Add to this that the Stanford team had already incurred significant expense traveling coast-to-coast... twice in the last 8 days ... and it just wouldn't have made sense to cancel the game out of symbolic empathy with storm survivors everywhere.

I went to the game, I still have no power. Been running the generator since early Friday morning, bought gas everyday. Yes I've had to wait in line. Yes one time I got the pump and they were out of gas, went down the road, waited some more and got gas. Gas is available if you are willing to be patient and ride a little bit for it. As for the game, I took my 9 year old grandson to his first game in the Valley. We had a great time, ate burgers and dippin dots and drank plenty of water. Had internet for the first since it started and for about 4 hours got my mind off everything going on at home. Much needed, thank you Tiger's for hosting the game. I needed it, even better that we won. Go Tigers
