I don’t blame TP for leaving given CK’s arrival in Jan22. However, I am disappointed that he’s leaving his team in a bind if DJ gets hurt practicing or during the bowl game. So much for loyalty to your team with one game to play.

Perhaps the coaches should have played him more if they want him to be ready and engaged in what the team is doing.
It’s hard to keep a talented player excited after he busts his butt to return from serious injury only to watch the starter put up one of the worst performances in FBS.

Sorry Judge Keller®, TP doesn't get to play QB simply because he's a good guy and worked hard in practice.
Most football teams (and in this case also Clemson) have bunches of good players who are not good enough to play a lot. TP was one such player.
To suggest that Clemson's coaches should sacrifice the hard work of the other members of the team simply because some fans think that the team 'owes' playing time to the backup QB does not reflect clear thinking. While there are many fans that want to virtue-signal by showing their compassion for a particular player, that 'compassion' is mis-placed. The fans and the players want to WIN GAMES, and it it would be a travesty to sacrifice their efforts so that the virtue-signaling fans can feel good about themselves.

And by the same token, a guy who has done everything asked of him isn’t obligated to stick around if he isn’t getting to play.
The coaches sent a message loud and clear this year to Taisun. Despite having a statistically poor QB as the starter, and our worst offense in 25 years, they still didn’t think Taisun was good enough to play.
Since they clearly just wanted the #2 QB to be a warm body, they can find that anywhere. They don’t need Taisun for that.

There was never any loyalty to him! He had earned the right to start way back in camp and then he works himself back for the season and then our starting quarterback struggled all season and he would only get put in the game on certain situations!

I could understand it coming, but why not wait until after the bowl game? I don't imagine we get to go to a New Years Day Bowl, and he could have played it and still transferred out?

Well, DJ looked about as poor as you can at times this year and never came out of the game, so I don't think Dabo's too worried about finding another QB right now

silverstreak02, anyone paying attention recognized the DJ's play at the earliest part in the season reflected that he was still highly inexperienced and needed a lot of coaching.
As DJ got better and learned how to play QB in the ~ middle third of the season, he progress was sabotaged by injuries to our OL (which led to the OL's poor play as a unit) and by the dropsied and bad blocking by the WRs (which of course led to bad play by the WR unit). Furthermore after W.Shipley went down in the NC State game, we lost ~ 45% of our RB attack. OF COURSE the entire offense looked especially bad during the middle third of the season, and the QB's modestly improved play was lost in the hurricane of bad offensive play around him. And DJ was still learning to be a better QB.
Finally, at the end of the season when OL, WRs, and RBs were coming together, DJ broke his index finger. OF COURSE his passing suffered. But even with a broken finger, DJ was able to complete some meaningful passes. And he also gutted out several big-time runs ... despite his banged up (and in a brace) knee.
Think think think before you post. I realize that thinking is not everyone's gig, though.

When a back up QB can't get on the field with as bad as DJ was this year, all the signs point to the leave now portal, and no one can blame him. Best of luck to you Taisun where ever you end up except the coots. I can't/won't give you my best wishes if you end up in cootlumbia!!!

Very few teams have multiple P5 quality QBs on roster at the same time. Backups are almost always G5 quality, some are FCS

I also wasn’t aware that you were the message board police.
You have to admit that it’s puzzling that our five star preseason Heisman candidate QB had such an awful year, and that our backup QB couldn’t even get on the field for any meaningful snaps. The guy behind him was a walk-on and also couldn’t get on the field. It’s a huge problem that many here are conveniently ignoring.
As I already stated, I appreciate everything Taisun gave to our program. He was a model student-athlete. He worked his tail off. I personally think he got a raw deal and don’t blame him at all for transferring. People calling him selfish for “bailing on the team” are the ones you should be going after if you are trying to regulate things here.

Yep can’t blame him. Seems when he was in, the team played harder for him and they responded to his leadership style better. The 4 play TD drive (can’t remember the game) and the team excitement afterwards seem telling to me. But when you can’t get on the field when the starter has a gimpy leg and a bandaged index finger on his throwing hand… well hmmmm. I never saw what the coaches saw in DJ. Still don’t.

Mylo, when you decide to pay attention and learn some football, then you'll have a better chance to understand why the coaches play guys like DJ instead of TP.
Maybe it will take a while for you, but if you want to learn football and pay attention, then you'll get there.

TP7 is about as good a team player as you could hope for. Perhaps behind closed doors-but he never complained or played the part of a victim or dropped little hints to the media that he was an unhappy camper. He has the principles and attitude to do well in life.
It only makes sense for him to do this. As observed with DJ here and Klubnick coming, it would have been a tough row to hoe for most any college QB. I hope he ends up in a place where his skills can shine!

Not a transfer to be salty about. He never had a shot at starting and now has another 5 star coming in behind him.
Hope he goes to a lower level program back east and balls out.

Kids want to play and will not sit. He is not an NFL prospect so a smaller school will be great for him.

He’s worked hard and been loyal to the team. He hasn’t gotten to play much despite being behind a poor performing quarterback this year. He wants to play and should go somewhere he’s trusted.

I think he would do good there. The Sunbelt aka Funbelt is a cool Conference. Chase Brice is done there so its a natural fit.

Not a surprise given Dabo/Elliott going for a broke with a broke QB like DJ. It's likely he'll get to actually shine wherever he goes when not being sidelined because HC keeps believing all the struggles in a season were more other players than a QB who couldn't play P5 football and kept missing passes.
TP got very little playing time as backup compared to prior years 1st backup QB

I've got a question to those who are questioning his lack of playing time. He came into this season after tearing his ACL. Help me remember, was he "good to go" as early as the UGA game? He was put in during the Connecticut game and walked into the end zone on his first and only drive. When the question was asked about TP not coming back on our next possession Dabo said he had hurt his shoulder, so a struggling DJ played most to the rest of a game he would have done well to sit out to rest his knee before the WFU game. In the injury reports Dabo would just say the TP was getting better. When he didn't play in the beat down of SC you had to believe that the shoulder he injured walking into the end zone wasn't healed. There's something fishy about this injury. Either he didn't want to play or Dabo was not telling us the whole story. The other thing I don't understand is why he felt the need to go into the portal now. He could have gone on a nice bowl trip and been there for his teammates, if needed, and for the college and fans that paid his scholarship for several years. It looks to me like he owes something to Clemson, or we are not being told the whole story. Personally, I think this whole thing stinks. But what do I know? I'm just a guy who was loyal to one employer for 40 years, where I got screwed more than once in that time. I'll never get used to this "me first" attitude that I see too much of today. Now, feel free to tell me I'm an old geezer who is out of touch with today's youth. Go Tigers.

I hope DJ transfers so the lot of you will shut the hell up. I'm pretty much sick and tired of the whole group of QB bashers.
If Taisum Whatever was better, he would have been playing. I didn't see that much out of him, either, not sure what you people were looking at.
If Will Taylor hadn't gone down for the season, he probably would have been the starter, but neither DJ or TP looked worth a crap all year long in all honesty.
