4. If a booster gives bowl game gifts it’s a no-no. Yeah, right.

Lol....true. Lebron i guess wouldn't be a booster because he never attended school there. However, it's all semantics and pretty ridiculous.

Kyler Murray, and others. So I am guessing he could still play football if he so chooses since he isn't under a contract in that sport!

He cannot play for Clemson Soccer, but could still technically play for Football I think. Although since he is a soccer player first and foremost, I kind of doubt he does.

Correct. Kyle Parker did this in baseball while still playing football at Clemson. However, in this case I think seasons and academic years might overlap so I don’t think it’s feasible.

You are correct. The MLS regular season begins this weekend (Feb 29) and doesn't end until the the first weekend in October (and you though the NBA and MLB seasons were long!). Further, unless he enrolled and could take a bunch of online classes through Clemson in the fall, he wouldn't qualify to play even a half season. Then, where would he get the hours to qualify for a second season?

you can absolutely sign a pro contract

In one sport and play college in another. Totally ok w the NCAA. Issue is whether the pro team allows via their contract. He would need to be enrolled in the Fall and have to be able to practice. This may not work with soccer but he may not be active or on a lower team that has a shorter season. However also with soccers anything else - you won’t get elevated without playing.
I’d say doubtful he plays for Clemson football.

He is not considered to be a pro FB player, he is now a pro soccer player. Saying that he can't play college FB bc he is a pro soccer player, is no different than saying he can't play college FB bc he rode bulls in the pro rodeo circuit. Just saying!!!!

Well more specific he can but he won’t. Dude just signed a professional contract in the sport he’s very good at.. he’s not going to be kicking field goals for Clemson

I am with you on that one. IMHO you can sign a pro contract in one sport and still play NCAA in another.
However, in Europe, soccer is called futball so does that eliminate him? LOL

The article should address his eligibility to still play football and his intentions on whether or not he plans to. Or, at least state that there will be a follow-up, more to come, awaiting word from Tanner/coaching staff, etc.
This should be about Clemson Athletics but the Clemson Athletics side of the story is not addressed, at all.

He signed a pro contract in soccer and that is believed to be his priority. Should it not work out in the near future, it's reasonable to believe that Swinney would welcome him back to football. Obviously he won't be able to play college soccer now.

Well, among all the talent coming in this year I was interested in seeing what this young guy can do. Heard about his demonstrations both right and left footed. Could make for some interesting options. Best of luck to him though. Go Tigers!

Can you imagine if this kid has a successful MLS career about 10 or 12 years and then decides he wants to honor his NLI and come play football for the Tigers?
We would get a ton of publicity and you would have to think a very mentally strong athlete if we re-signed a 30 year old kicker from MLS to come to our team.
I hope he has a very successful career moving forward.

Yeah you beat me to it. Basketball schools get the 1-and-done kids. Soccer & baseball get the none-and-done guys. Career-wise for him, I think kicking for Clemson football is a non-issue. His money is in soccer.

Kid is crazy. NFL kickers make 3-5 million on their second contract and have 18-21 years careers for less work. You don't make as much for MLS...
Realistically, he could play in MLS and go to the NFL in 3 years.
