Well said by coach Ford. I will add he was not that big, but as CDF said he would knock the stew out of you. One helluva LB who was all over the field along with Randy Scott. Bubba was a nice, grounded guy who rode his bike all over campus and hung out with the general student population. Played a lot of basketball in Fike and behind Lever. RIP Bubba!

I remember sitting in that nc state stadium in late 70s. Stupid wolf howl as bad as chicken crowing now. They had RB Ted Brown, we had Bubba Brown and Lester Brown. Also remember pick 6 by Clemsons Rex Varn in that game. Got cussed at a lot that day but winning helped.

I would sit with him in his dorm room

At 8 years old, the 1978 NC State game was my first trip to an away game. I remember Bubba tackling Ted for a loss then standing up and pointing at his own chest, I'm sure letting Ted know who the real Brown was that day.
We sat in the end zone up high, and most of the Clemson people were on the other end of the field flanking each sideline between the endzone and 20 yard line (or close to that). I'm sure NCS thought it was a good way to separate the fans, but it just made it easy to do the "Orange / White" cheer the whole game. It was really rocking in the 4th quarter when most of the shamecock - I mean NC State - fans were gone.

around campus. Super nice guy. Unless you were toting the rock and not wearing orange.

Absolute hero to me as a young Tiger fan. One of the best LBs to wear the paw, ever.

I remember the Clemson crowd cheering..."our Brown is better than your Brown....". Great stuff.

They don't make LBs like Bubba anymore. A mans man.

God Bless and know he's in Paradise as I type this.

My favorite memory of him was in Raleigh in 1978 when he dominated NC State star running back Ted Brown in a 33-10 Tiger victory.

$6,900 on the GoFund me page for funeral expenses so far. Just a few dollars can a long way in helping reach the goal for final expenses. 🙂

Done. Every Tiger fan should give a little.

Dementia . It's probably not a stretch to think that all of those tackles he made for the football team may be the precipitator of that diagnosis. Way too young.

exactly. i know paying players has kinda ruined certain aspects of the game, but this is exactly why they deserve it. they put their body on the line for the university to make money and fame, its the least the game can do for them.

Bubba helped fire Woody Hayes that night in Jacksonville. He and Randy Scott stuffed the bucknuts multiple times inside the 5 yard line!

The man brought the lumber on the field!!!

170 tackles in a year?!?!?!?! Good Night, he had to have been involved in just about every tackle. That''s just incredible.

RIP Bubba. You are a Tiger Legend

One of the best Clemson linebackers ever. Really nice guy too ... remember him having some great moves on the Book Store dance floor as well. Don't remember whether or not he got a chance in NFL.

Bubba Brown. An all-time great Clemson defender. Spent a lot of time on my feet cheering for Bubba who was three years my senior. Sammy Brown can wear that number 47 very proudly.

Respects and condolences to the Brown family ...
