All these guys are doing is seeing if they get a 5th or some cases 6th year of eligibility.

If you tweet all the sites for portal, all these guys are entering with only a couple more days to do it. A lot of these guys have finished out their 4th year of eligibility.

The NCAAT is not supposed to vote on a 5th year of eligibility till before the end of the year so a lot of these guys will not get it ..

I thought you could get a "graduate" or 5th year if you are going to get a secondary degree. I dont really know the ins and outs but I thought that was the deal.

But it is interesting that there are obviously a number of "players" that are still out there that are not good enough for the next level, but are definitely good enough to play "college" basketball. I wonder if this keeps pushing the dominos regarding unlimited eligibility. My understanding is that the Vanderbilt QB filed a lawsuit challenging the eligibility limitations. I have been waiting to hear how that lawsuit is going to go. With the constant influx of new high school players, and the hold over kids that are good but not good enought to play the next level, this should hopefully drive down NIL/ player pay because the amount of available players should start to stack up. Could also start to see players that did play at the next level that were cut also re-enter the college ranks.

I personally like the 4 year eligibility rule. I think it promotes growth of a player, and corresponds to getting a "4" year degree. This was what college athletics was initially about. But with it becoming a professional venture, the amount of available players serves as a check against some of the crazy pay that has been offered because of FOMO and just bidding on potential production.

Its another reminder that capitalism can work to correct a market as long as you dont have rules that distort the situation.

I'd bet Ian has a decently long, and lucrative, career overseas playing pro

Without a doubt, he will have a long career overseas. He might be able to grab a few seasons in the g league. We have our a tremendous number of players into the overseas leagues

Yep, some of our players have done very well in europe.***

"I personally like the 4 year eligibility rule. "

Sorry, courts have decided that the NCAA may not create or enforce any rules that might possibly mean that some kid somewhere gets his feelings hurt. In the next year or so, we can expect mid-season transfers, unlimited eligibility, removal of academic requirements...

Yeah, it is a mess but I suspect you'll see it in every sport. Even if he does, we don't have room. We're finished with bigs... so if Brad did get him back, I don't think that'd sit well with the other guys here.

Doesn't matter, they didn't do anything when it mattered. Good hustler, but racked up those careless turnovers down the stretch too.

Honestly don’t see the point in following this “college sport” any more. Just go down to the Y and watch a pickup game - you’ll be familiar with the same number of players.

I tend to agree with ya but, if there is anybody that can completely ruin college sport, the NCAA ia group that can do that!!! When college kids took them to court to fight for a share of the money they earned the right to have, the NCAA has done nothing but whatever they could to ruin the game at the college level bc those kids beat them in court!!!

We can't blame the kids for wanting a share of the fortunes they have earned for the NCAA. The NCAA should have been sharing with the kids all along, but their greed kept them from sharing it!!!

The NCAA may grant a 5th year of eligibility across of the because of the Pavia case. It's supposed to come down by July, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. They can enter the portal and still claim they are active players. It also gets their name out there for any oversees pro team.
