Guys seem to stay 6 or more years if they want. What is the basis of his waiver - medical or some other aspect? I'm glad to hear he wants to stay and hope it goes through

I wonder what the basis of the claim is.

2020 was the COVID year (where he played 4 games), and then he played in 5 games in 2021, and 11+ games in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Are we allowed to make 2021 the COVID year, and then 2020 the redshirt season? If not (and I've never heard of anyone doing that), it seems he'd be out of luck.

The basis is that I guess he only played 20 snaps across those 5 games in 2021. I know the rule is 4 games, but 4 snaps a game seems worth of a redshirt since they're just giving them to everyone willy nilly now.

Well if he doesnt get it, then this one is on whoever

handles subs as there was no way he should have entered the SC game in 2021. Should have kept it at 4 games. That game was a blowout. Believe the understanding was that he’d get it a 6th year based on Covid extra + RS regardless of order. He should have a good case even if involves throwing our staff under the bus for the 2021 USC game participation.

This sounds like a cheap excuse, but I’ll recommend it if Capehart is denied the medical year extra bonus and thus gets a final season with us for 2025.

Blame the defensive personnel / preserving RS roster mismanagement on BV. Or Lemanski Hall. Or Wes Goodwin.

One thing is for sure, Clemson has in house folks working that knows much better than us how to get around things like that with the NCAA...

Maybe Tom Brady should come back to Michigan. NCAA probably give him extra covid 19 season. Since their rules change day by day

You've got guys just finding loopholes in everything now. Vanderbilt's QB is basically making a career out of college football, claiming his Juco seasons don't count and Capehart needs a waiver to get a 6th season when one of those years he played 20 snaps across 5 games...

I had the same question about what the basis of this was - Since 2020 did not count for anyone then he has played 4 years BUT in 2021 he only played in 5 games (but apparently the same number of plays he had in 2020) so I ASSUME they would like to consider tha a redshirt year as someone else here suggested.
Whatever, I hope they YES! We need all the big bad bodies we can get in the middle if we are going to stop the run again!

That would be HUGE if we could get one more year out of him, he's arguably our best true DT when healthy. Parker, Woods, Capehart, Heldt would be a nice starting front 4.

Clemson lost their minds looks like played all seasons. Didn’t see any early season injuries warranting extra year. What is their baises for 6th year?
