But does make me feel a little sad for him, won't this hurt him or in reality do teams already have decisions made unless they see something new at combine? I guess I'm asking, how much of a difference does combine performance really make?

Sorry to hear but this injury explains why he was not his normal presence vs Bama. I had thought his passive approach to pass rushing in that game was due to the scheme Venables was employing. Instead maybe Venables used him more as a decoy due to his injury.
That time he got body slammed had to be very painful with a torn pec.

Yes he did. That was beautiful assignment football. He and Simmons (?) each took a man and dominated. Even Clark Kent couldn't have broken that tackle.

Your first thought may have been more accurate.
The tweet states that his TFL and sack stats were better in the 7 games after the injury than they were in the 8 games prior.
I don't think Venables used him as a decoy because of being injured.

I'm sure that will come up in interviews at the combine. Between that and Clemson pro day, he will he fine. Hate he misses the opportunity, but glad he can fully recover.

I'm sure his Draft stock won't be affected by this. When someone has been as consistently productive as AB, the NFL teams will have seen enough to make an evaluation of him.
Besides, although he'll miss the Combine, he can still participate in a Pro day, and attend interviews, and be measured for height and weight, etc etc.

Looking for AB7 to be a 3rd/4th round steal

Plenty of tape on AB from past 2 yrs. He has the talent, technique and size to continue growing his DE talents when healthy.
Best case would love to see him drafted by same team as CW42 or Big Dex. Houston or New England, maybe ATL. Grady can coach him up. A quiet leader and team player. Wish him the best!
