It’s no more than some newspaper writer listing every possible name he can think of. LOL
Nothing to see here.

Indiana won't accept "greatest success down south with 4 ncaa tournament appearances in 15 seasons..." when their expectations are a final 4 every year and national championships.
It is good pr for Clemson to have articles like this. Wouldn't surprise me if they can't get pearl, they might try to lure pat kelsey away from Louisville.

IMO when people are looking at Brownell as there coach and what he has done at Clemson, it's no secret that Brownell took over a program at a school that didn't make their basketball program a high priority. And that here of late Brownell has been able to do what not many if any has accomplished and that is to get the administration to put some faith in our basketball program and invest in it more than they have in past history and it's starting to work for Brad. Just my opinion.

CBB was never a second thought when you had to recruit players. The best thing to happen to CBB was being able to buy players from the portal. We always knew his recruiting stunk but he appears to be a decent coach except when he is close to being top 25 team, then he ppoo's the bed somehow.
Let's hope this last loss doesn't compound itself.

The best thing to happen to CBB was the collapse of basketball in the ACC.

Totally agree with the narrative of basketball wasn't a priority...however OPP and Barnes were able to coach up teams and have success in a much shorter window. I think Brad has done a good job with the portal and we are in a good position overall talent wise but we still struggle to finish against less talented teams. NIT losses were embarrassing over the yrs in the same fashion as losing to tech after leading the entire game. My hopes are high for a sweet 16 run. Go Tigers!!!

so this makes a ton of sense. He is still young, so another 14 year program rebuild is still doable for him. It will be interesting to see how Drad and Miami respond. I hope he stays, but wish him the best if he decides to accept either position.

I really don't think that brad is going anywhere unless he gets the feeling that he's no longer welcome at Clemson by the people that's over him...

This would be the biggest gift that Brownell could give to Clemson.

Guess I’m also a potential candidate. They just haven’t called me yet.
I do know this… When the game is tied, you don’t need to try a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The 3rd OT 3 point attempt had to be attempted...we were down 3. The 1st and 2nd OT 3 point attempts...not so much. I would have driven to the basket both times. You had a chance to make the basket or get fouled. If not...move on to the next OT. Not sure that CBB didn't call for a drive, but based on his past coaching on considering his experience coaching from the past...probably not.

I can understand why his name is coming up. Despite the fans, he has done a good job under impossible circumstances that could raise eyebrows. How funny would it be if he won a national title there, or somewhere else, in 3 years?

Again he could be a secondary candidate if their top candidates decline.

I would think they only hire him if he has another decent ending to the season here. We fall apart and I doubt they would be interested unless most of their primary candidates turn them down.

Yes agree with that. Coach Brownell gets to the NCAAT this season he would be considered a secondary type option if their top wish list all say no.
Coach Brownell has a similar resume that Mark Pope who was hired at Kentucky when their top candidates said no last season.

Do his parents live in Indiana? Are his kids out of local schools? Not familiar with those situations. They could be factors if he becomes a candidate.

Yes, I think they live in Cincinnati close to Indiana. They come down a month or so during the season. Coach Brownell's two daughters have already graduated from Clemson.

The article mentions over 20 coaches as "potential candidates."

Call me skeptical that Brad Brownell is anywhere near the top of the AD's list.
Although, it would be a great opportunity for him and Clemson Basketball.

Just our luck he would be mentioned. Here comes another million dollar raise and several years contract extension.

My honest opinion is Brownell has been at Clemson long enough. Successful corporations other than ultra successful ones, don't retain CEO's anywhere near this long. If the Hoosiers want him take him. Clemson basketball is at a ceiling. Last was a peak. Once every 7-10 years of a strong run is what the program is. Unless we are gonna hut 3 or 4 4-5 star players it's reality. Take his buyout money from them and move on.

Maybe our chance to get Penny Hardaway of Memphis or Miller a former Tarheel player.
