Sucks for those kids. Hope the appeal works out and Clemson can find some evidence that helps these kids.

The NCAA does not want another Clemson/Bama matchup for the Natty so they hope this will be enough. The Tigers can still do this. Next Man Up!

Since sources are optimistic for a successful appeal, does that mean that they think they have found the source of the ostarine?

Nope. A successful appeal would allow time to defend/make a case for players before the suspension is fully enforced(for one year). The preceding is only an opinion. ??

Suuuuure buddy, assuming all 3 of those guys are just absolutely willing to LIE to their coach, teammates, fans and everyone else including God's face. You run with that.
I mean why would they even feel ashamed to fess up if they had been taking something that had the ingredient in it if they weren't aware there was a conflict. There's no reason to lie.
Unless it's some super embarrassing situation such as it being a giant bottle of stuff named "OSTARINE PLUS: NOW WITH 50% MORE OSTARINE (WHICH IS BANNED BY THE NCAA)" or something completely obviously wrong. As long as the label doesn't look like that...I have no idea why they'd feel like they couldn't come forward and acknowledge it.

Absolutely, they would have to run a blood screening to actually get a concentration percentage that is in like so many parts per million or something like that to determine how much was taken. Depending on the last time it was ingested to know the amount that was ingested. I think that is how that works. Like THC is one of just a few drugs that can remain stored in the liver or kidneys for up to 30 days...

From what I've read, this drug compared to Anabolic steroids, is like comparing Kapernick to a Quarterback. I find it hard to believe a kid who has no record of this, and a Top 5-10 draft pick, taking a chance with this. T. Pryor,Jr. probably would have been awarded a medal and free tattoos if he popped positive. NCAA- out of touch, inconsistent, and really suffering from "it's in can you feel it" disease

Those inclined to think that, have been saying that Clemson cheats for years, and many have said the same about Alabama. It just comes with the territory when you make the playoffs every year. They have to say something to be OK with their teams being bottom dwellers. They just are not willing to admit that Clemson has superior coaches and players.

How many were tested? Were these the only 3? Or were others tested? I’ve checked the articles, but if that was stated, I missed it. I doubt these are the only tests, but it was probably not the entire team. And when we’re tests?

There are random tests done by the NCAA during the year, names are selected off the full roster in a blind process.
For championship games (across all sports), the NCAA again conducts random tests from the submitted roster. Names are not released unless there are positive results, and suspensions.
We all know, the NCAA does not move quickly on these types of matters. I doubt that we'll get an answer on the appeal before the title game. The only way that could happen is if there was direct proof of what actually happened to cause the positive results.
I like that Dex is trying to contribute anyway he can, it must be very frustrating for him.

They likely took some supplement from a muscle building program that unknowingly had the banned substance in it. They probably know exactly where it came from, but likely did not know that it would contain anything that would result in a failed test. I hate it, but that is the most likely source. With millions at stake, the temptation to take body building supplements is very high, and the temptation for a business to slip a little of this in their concoctions to build muscle is there as well. Now I doubt any of these kids knew that they were taking a banned substance when they took it, but probably knew in short order what the source was after the failed test.

Not really...I do not think they knowingly took the banned substance, but rather took a supplement protein powder or similar item that sells over the counter at GNC or such. They likely had no idea it had ostarine in it. It is these body building amateur chemists that are selling stuff without warning the public that I suspect caused this. Even the retail shop that sold it may not know it was in there.

Players at all levels take supplements so it is not a matter of giving in to temptation. Supplements are not illegal. In addition, Clemson verifies that supplements these young men take are not suppose to contain banned substances. That being said there have been several articles on here since the first test, on how common it is for supplements to be contaminated when being produced using the same equipment that is used to produce supplements that contain banned substances. I expect that Dex is being truthful when he said he didn't have a clue how it got in his system but I hope they figure it out. The source holds the key to clearing their names.

You'd think with all the chemistry and bioengineering tech they have at Clemson, they'd test these supplements in-house and know what they are feeding these kids. Well, that would be MY out of the box idea in the AD.

One of the stories specifically said that all Clemson players eat and take all supplements from the Clemson team of dieticians and docs. They have specific people who go through and try to weed out any products that might have anything banned by the NCAA for this exact reason. Big Dex said that they all follow the guidelines. Who know? Perhaps they grabbed something from a quick mart? Draw the line from where the three have been and what they have done together. There is a common thread between these guys.

However, such tiny amounts could could come from any number of different sources. To my knowledge, these supplements (protein powder, etc.) are not closely regulated and a lot are probably produced overseas.I think that the university should aggressively pursue these appeals.

the appeals process and it sounded lengthy. Basically have to find what they took that was contaminated and have it tested in a lab to prove contamination. Then they usually try to find another bottle or whatever from the same batch and test that too to confirm. It sounded like a process that takes weeks or even months, not days.
I would be really surprised if they managed to win an appeal before next Monday unless they have a different strategy.

Yep- its a shame and hopefully it won't cost Dex millions. It might cost him a bit in the draft but he can make it up with a clean record and pro-bowl performance. Meanwhile, I believe the others will do their best to make it up and perhaps by some miracle we get him back if we move on. Huggins and Pickney are #### good as well- it does hurt our depth though obviously and who will replace Dex in the goal line "heavy" package?????? As for the substance - I agree they probably have a pretty good idea where it came from and believe it was not intentional but why those three only, who reportedly are not even that close???? If its in something unknowingly on the inside, we are #### lucky its not the whole team! The NCAA needs to grow up (as well as other governing bodies - see link below) and set reasonable standards and investigate in a realistic manner. Things like this are in just about everything..

First DW gets screwed out of the Heisman by a second rate QB whose team lost 3 games. Now Dex gets put out of a big game by some idiots who can't take time to try to do the right thing before cheating him out of all he and this team have worked for. And if I have to listen to another idiot, Jesse Palmer, tell me one more time how ND is being disrespected by being made a double digit underdog I may lose my freeking mind. Palmer's unbecoming tight suits must be putting a squeeze on his pea brain. Go Tigers.

F*** the NCAA protocol for situations like this one. That was an incredibly long time to wait for a test result to be returned, therefore limiting time to prepare an appeal, BS.
And also Triple F*** Jesse Palmer, I swear that guy makes Jenner seem manly.

That would be ridiculous and wrong, considering that PED use destroys an athletes health in later life. If PED use was allowed, then athletes that were not using them would never be able to compete. All athletes would be forced to use them to be able to compete against players that were using them on the opposing team. Not only that, historical records would be tainted if the record holder was using PED's. I might agree that just slight traces of a substance should not result in such a severe penalty, but not being a doctor, I can't say how much should be allowed.

So this means that they did not give those guys a blood test with Test B, they gave the exact same faulty Urine test, and if "I Were" any of those 3 guys, "I Would" Sue the NCAA for not giving me the most accurate test there is, and by them failing to do so, it shows unconcern by the NCAA to do what is standard when a positive drug screening of a urine test. Personally, I would have refused another urine screening and ask for a blood or hair follicle test/testing even if I would have had to pay for the test myself, if I was sure that I hadn't knowingly taken any illegal substances, that is exactly what I would have done!!!

They already had the b sample separated from the original specimen sample a. No idea of they use a more accurate test or not.
Also, I have seen the amount stated from .02%(.0002 or 2 pp 10,000) to 2 ppm (.000002 or .0002 %). Don't know for sure which is correct either.

Youay not have a clear understanding of the B sample. A new sample was not taken after the initial sample tested positive. The B sample is a portion of the original sample and is simply a "retest" if you will. Allowing for a new sample or a blood test now would not be an accurate test of the players' bodies and systems for earlier this month.
I'm disappointed like everyone else that big Dex is likely done playing in a Clemson uniform but I think the players and coaches are generally quite comfortable with the security, accuracy and integrity of these tests. They've done the right thing by preparing and moving forward under the assumption that they'll not be available for Saturday or the NC game. That's exactly what we should do. We'll win anyway. Just hope that further eligibility is not lost and the future for these three young men is not diminished.

I feel like the NCAA will make an effort to clear these guys by January 10.

I feel like someone in the NCAA has financial problems. Follow the money: 1. Everyone knew ND couldn't run on Clemson 2. All the money was going Clemson's way 3. Spread goes up to 13.5, and now all of a sudden the best run stopper is out.
On that note- get ready for some strange calls/ no calls. They probably kick out Wilkins for tackling

Thanks for all you have done for the program. You have been a stalwart part of our defense. Considering what has occured, I would imagine your decision to enter the NFL will be made that much easier. Good fortune to you. I know you will do well. Once a Tiger, always a Tiger.

I'm curious what is being done to prepare for an appeal, specifically who and how would they test substances to try to find what has the ostarine in it? I think someone said on here that ostarine is detectable for about 48 hours after being in the body so there should be some detective work going on quizzing the guys on what they used prior to the sample so that those things can be tested. It's not quite needle in a haystack but not far off.

I don't understand any of this. If these players aren't taking this junk, how did it fond its way into their systems. I mean if it was a sabotage kind of situation, I get Lawrence getting picked, but the other two? Is this something that could be in a supplement they took or something they ate or drank? Still doesn't make sense...Can someone shed some light on this one?

Sources of Ostarine?
Sports drink? Hair gel? Nope, unless someone can provide ingredients to prove me wrong.
No, but it's easily available in either powder or capsule form on the interweb. SARMS4you.com
One of the 3 had it, or someone else on the team. I say the coaches know, someone will get thrown under a bus at the appeal.
