Yes, so I would assume it hasn’t been enough money to concern the casinos. Sports betting Produces the least amount of gambling revenue.

this far out, plus seeing how the line moved 3 points already in LSU's favor from the opening it looks like a lot came in early on the LSU side at -2.5 but since then has gotten closer to even with the line shift, which hasn't changed much if any the last few days.

you think Vegas would do something to protect its $ interest. Surely they wouldn’t try to influence the zebras. Or wood they!
Should this be something LSU should worry about?
Naw, Vegas would never do anything that dastardly!

If this true, Vegas is getting ready to make a freaking fortune and to strike a blow at all those who say the line is always set by the money flow, that Vegas never sets a teaser line to take money from the crowd and so on and so forth. The idea that Vegas is ALWAYS in it just for the vigorish is great PR for the bookies.

When the line doesn't move it means Vegas loves the other team. Also, the majority of bets are made close to game time.

That means a large amount of money is on Clemson for the money line or that line would be moving much quicker. Or the whales are all betting to move the line to go heavy on the new spread.
One or the other.

The late money the last couple days before the game will tell the tale. The sharps came in strong late for Clemson leading up to the OSU game. I'll be curious if that happens again. May be why the spread is staying where it is. Casinos may expect something similar this time and are holding the line low.

That is most likely the driving factor. If 93% is on LSU and only 20% of total expected bets are in, then it means nothing, Vegas has pretty good idea of what to expect in total. It is true that they love a sucker bef, maybe that’s the other driving factor ??

At 93%/7%, Vegas will either win a fortune or take a huge loss on this one.
This happens sometimes. Not very often though.

If there is no one on the other side of the bets then the Casinos are at risk which means the fix is in. No just kidding. I think what the article meant was that 93% of the tickets (not money) are on LSU which means that higher (smarter) bets are being made on Clemson to cover.

Nope, screenshot above shows 87% of tickets are on LSU, but 93% of money. Seems unlikely those numbers are accurate across the board though as that should've moved the line more than it has.

Monday morning Quarterback "Public" bets right now. The Gambling Sharps could hit CLEMSON with several Large Wagers closer to game time, and throw the number back to the Key 3.

Definitely. I'd venture to guess most of the bets at this point are LSU fans. There are definitely some general public bets after watching the Semifinals as you mention, and it wouldn't surprise me if there were some bigger gamblers that got in early at the 3-4 point spread seeing good value there on LSU. I do think with it in the range of 5-6, the sharps will come in on Clemson in the day or so before the game.

Re: why would a sharp wait if they like the line?***
Jan 3, 2020, 4:46 PM

If it's your job and/or you're betting big money, you're going to wait to make sure there are no injuries/suspensions/distractions/etc that could swing the line or the outcome of the game.
Sometimes they'll bet early if they think a line is way off, but generally that will move the line and they'll hold off until right before the game.

Generally, the public likes betting favorites and the line will often move towards the favorite. If a sharp wants to bet a favorite, they bet early (before the public has pushed line up), if they prefer the dog, they may bet late (after the public has pushed the line up).

Jan 3, 2020, 5:08 PM

Vegas feels pretty good that they're going to make money. Otherwise, they would change the line to get 50% betting on one side and 50% on the other - so they can just skim the 10% bookie charge off half the bettors and have zero exposed risk.

Jan 3, 2020, 6:08 PM

I wish 93% of the money was on LSU. The best I could get for Clemson on the moneyline was +190. And that was when it was Clemson +6. If 93% came in at Clemson +6, that line would've moved to 7, 8, 9, 10+ ASAP.
But, if it's 100% accurate, then the bookies are keeping it around 6 just to hold all of the bets themselves. Sometimes, bookies don't want that 50/50 split if they feel very strongly about an outcome. In other words, if this is true, then the bookies think Clemson covers easily.

...thing over and over expecting a different outcome. That is the media. Confirmation bias towards any team that hails from the SEC or literally anyone other than Clemson. The great thing about it we keep proving them wrong. Lawrence has put up pretty gaudy numbers two years in a row. We have been in 5 straight CFP. Won 2 of the last 3 National Championships, yet they refuse to give us our due respect. I know our victims have to respect us. Bama is probably looking at LSU thinking “don’t under estimate Clemson!” OH&4 St surely knows we have had their number. Got Hayes fired. Beat Meyer so bad he left coaching. Have beaten every single “g.o.a.t.” teams along the way. I believe we can beat LSU. As long as we have Coach V & Elliott with 16, there’s always a chance! Let’s go shock the world, AGAIN!!

As long as most of the money is on LSU the sharps that like Clemson are going to wait. They have less time for potential issues and might get another half point. They will place them if things start to swing the other way.
