Here's the proof of the past few seasons. While cohesiveness is vital, there talent and development are vital to get those pieces to mesh into something special. Look at what that OSU team had, much as I hate to admit. They had a bunch of players that stated together, bled together, grew together. And as a result they dominated together. Nil money was what it is, they stood together and did what needed done.
I feel, for what it's worth, the staff needed seasoning in talent recognition. They knew how to coach, knew techniques, all that. But, because of a lack of experience, they felt they could out coach a lack of development and talent. They knew formations, drills, tactics, all that. But without the right blend of thoroughbreds and workhorses, all the other stuff is only going to get you so far.
I want to see this team strive to dominate, as we all do. But we must be patient. Until the transfer and nil issues are dealt with. (The butt nuts spent millions to keep that team together.). It is more vital than ever that the coaches know how to evaluate talent and not think they can out coach their limitations. Don't try to blend in prima donnas with alley cats and hope they come around and not run for greener pastures. It won't work.
Let's watch the show, embrace the suck and enjoy the process... and for the sake of all that does not suck...beat the chickens!!!
