Are you saying that Dabo has backed away from the statement he made a month ago about Vizzina being our #2 behind Klubnik?

Gonna be tough to move up from third-string if Vizzina starts piecing it together enough.

I have always believed in our Tiger FB team even when I knew I didn't see the reasons needed to get excited. To hear Dabo talk about his guys it kind of makes you want to get excited about this coming season, but I'm always cautious of what Dabo says bc he has gotten really good with coach speak, but I promise there is no one that wants to see our team at it's best than Dabo Swinney!!!

Totally agree that no one wants it more than Dabo. But, that said, fall camp hasn't been the same since Venables and Jeff Scott left. Used to be I couldn't wait to read/listen to their after practice presser. I felt like I could get an honest eval hearing them. They didn't sugar coat, nor control what was said. Even the Clemson media reporters didn't spin the message back then.

I loved them both, Jeff and BV, and our FB team probably misses them the most, especially Jeff Scott. I think that our FB team has suffered the most from the loss of Jeff Scott. Wes Goodwin couldn't excited a stray mouse sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor, but he has kept the defense going pretty well without BV, but IMO our WR room has suffered the most without Jeff Scott...
I was praying when the talk began about teams could use as many on the field coaches as they wanted, I was really hoping that we would hear that Jeff Scotts is back to help out with coaching up our WR's room. But we haven't heard a word about Jeff Scott, is he still in Clemson, or has he moved back to Florida with his dad?
I seriously doubt that Jeff Scott ever reads T-Net, but if he does, I say please Jeff, please come back and help with the group of WR's we have, you could probably help with getting a few of our most talented WR's drafted into the NFL 1st round like you've done before. If you won't come back with me begging you, do it for the young talent in our WR room. There's a few blue chippers in that room that desperately need your coaching experience with WR's and getting them ready for the 1st round of the NFL. Please, will you come back and help out just for those really talented young men, and prove that it was bc of your ability to coach up WR's that we were called WRU, come on back Jeff and help to get us back to being known as WRU, do it for the guys in the WR room, do it for Clemson University, or just do it bc you can!!!

Sounds really encouraging, but the game last year at Duke puts the Fall Camp statements into perspective. Prove on the field against Georgia that Clemson is back.

That game with Duke was lost bc they were better prepared than we were. Their guys put in the work during their summer workouts, our guys didn't. They were in shape and ready to fight for 60 minutes, our team wasn't. They didn't want to win more than we did, but they wanted to win and they put the most work so they could do their best to try and take advantage of us, and that is exactly what they did.
Our team thought they could go into Raleigh North Carolina and have their way with Duke just bc they were Duke, and they believed they could go into their house and beat them without putting in the extra work. Duke knock them in the mouth the 1st half, and our guys were out of shape and out of breath to slow them guys down in a 60 minute game.
When our guys came out in the second half, they were to tired to turn things around and save them from the embarrassment they were about to suffer, and those guys leaned one of the most valuable lessons that will never forget throughout their entire lives, and that was if you don't prepared for a test, chances are you will fail and they failed themselves and our fan base miserably. And it's wrong to say that you're sorry when you know you didn't do enough to prepare...
Georgia better not feel the way that our team felt going against Duke, if that is the way they feel, they will get their A$$ handed to them in the 1st half just like Duke handed our guys their A$$ to them. And the Duke team knew by the way we played the 1st half that our team was to tired and out of shape to do do a thing about what had done to our guys in that 1st half. They even had a little bit of Ref help to beat us...

That explains the loss. Maybe the Tigers should have gone to Durham to play Duke last year.

Duke had less talent at 15+ out of 22 positions

But to your point, Duke outworked our Tigers. No doubt Dabo and Tiger coaches were also drinking the early season kool-aid with lots of player talk about the playoffs and a natl championship goal while Elko and Duke were laser-focused on Tigers. Cade was young and inexperienced, Riley & the Offense was new, and there was really little 4th/5th/6th year leadership among upperclassmen.
Duke went on to lose to Notre Dame, Florida State, and UNC; they were drubbed by Louisville 23-0, and even lost to UVA. An average team.
But like Duke last year vs. Clemson, I like catching UGA in Game 1 for better or worse. This year's Tiger team mettle seems to be improved - more grounded. Cannot wait to see what Peter Woods, TJ Parker, Barrett Carter, Woodaz, Sammy Brown and RJ Mickens bring to the table. Some hard hits and surprising turnovers could demoralize an overconfident UGA and keep the Tigers in a close game which could go either way. Cautiously optimistic. Go Tigers!
