So, when they sat for 2hrs with delay, had time to watch every play, how could they not make adjustments. Why could we not get some 3n-outs so we could have more than 3 possessions?

We had more runs in the 2nd half, a higher percentage of plays were runs, and most importantly the QB ran it once in the 1st half and seven times in the 2nd half. There's really no way a semi-knowledgable fan couldn't have noticed it.

Just because that's the standard doesn't mean we're currently hitting it. His message was that we're improving, i.e. working to get there.
And "best" means the best they can be. That doesn't necessarily mean best in the country. Sometimes other teams are better.
"Best" means achieving our best. Obviously that's a work in progress.

finished #2, #1, #4, #1, #2, and #4 and had a top 10 offense each of the last six seasons without knowing how to call plays?
We have a team capable of being great. We have one primary issue holding us back right now. That person and his mental state is requiring more development than what we're used to. It will help too if the new OL comes together and performs better.
Do you think the coaches who have finished in the top 4 for six seasons in a row forgot how to coach??

They SUCK! And if Dabo knew how to coach he would realize he doesn’t have good OL coaches! Dabo doesn’t know football like nick Saban & can’t realize he needs to make some changes? He’ll go down this year! Coz of his stubbornness which will teach him a lesson.

I agree; I feel like the urgency this season does not match the level of when Dabo took over in 2008. If this is a new season and each season we start over then I feel like the current response should be different. These are uncharacteristic performances, reactions, and dynamics within the program that are concerning to me. We aren’t playing to our potential and to me this is bigger than technique. No, I’m not Dabo and I don’t get paid to coach - I’m just a fan speaking to what I’m observing peripherally. I credit Dabo and Co. for our best decade in Clemson football history, it has been such a joy to witness/experience, but I am concerned…Maybe 11 weeks from now we will be firing on all cylinders with just the lone loss to UGA but I don’t feel as confident about that scenario right now.

Yep excuses excuses! Coz he doesn’t know how to fix it. DJ’s footing us off & he has t coaches that can’t read other teams defense but the other teams have read our offense & Elliot said GT came out with total different defense but can’t you see that and then change your strategy to make it work? No coz he doesn’t know how. And Dabo doesn’t know either.

And the fact that grown men care about such things and how many points they have is actually quite sad.
That being said the only reason my pulse is low is because I call it like I see it. I’m not politically correct. I’m not polite. The people pushing my pulse down are either people that freak out over the slightest bit of criticism towards Clemson or brainwashed liberals. Anyone that cares what those people think needs to get a life.

So let me get this straight, JK......we can't criticize Brad Brownell, the annually crowned KING of mediocrity at Clemson....without getting an earful of unwarranted defense from you on his behalf every single time. But it's ok for you to criticize Dabo...the man who has 2 natty rings, wins the ACC every year, who brought back-to-back generational QBs to Clemson, and had an overall #1 pick in the NFL Draft??
That's rich, my friend...on a whole new level.

Here's the thing you don't seem to understand.
Sep 21, 2021, 3:32 PM
|
|
Brownell has done more with less his entire career. Under Brownell, Clemson basketball punches above its weight class all the time. We compete toe to toe with teams that we have no business competing against based on program history, talent level, support, etc.
In contrast, under Dabo and Elliott, we have had offenses that are loaded with talent. Five star/generational talent at QB, RB, WR, etc. Most games, these elite players are going against defenses that have little chance of stopping them. Thus, there is no questioning their ability to recruit top talent.
However, for the first time under a Dabo and Elliott-led offense, things look really bad. The team is struggling mightily on offense. The early returns, after three games, are not good. Consider:
-Their excuse against Georgia was that Georgia is a really good defense. -Their excuse against SC State is that they forced us to run. -Their excuse against Georgia Tech is that they played a defense we weren't expecting.
The results are shocking for an $8 million head coach (3rd highest in college football) and a $2 million offensive coordinator (highest paid offensive coordinator in college football):
-105th in scoring offense -93rd in rushing offense -101st in passing offense
They haven't fixed the problems, despite being 25% of the way through the season. Of course, there is still plenty of time to fix them. But honestly, what evidence do we have that they know how to fix the problem, considering the fact that they have never been in this situation and have always been able to lean on generational talent in the past?
So don't jump down my throat for questioning their ability to do something they have never done before. I sure hope they can - after all, that's a big reason why they are paid the high salaries they are.

First of all, Brownell's mediocrity is indefensible, and you will not convince me otherwise. But I digress....
My point is...if we can't criticize Brownell after 10 years of undeniably mediocre results, then you absolutely CANNOT criticize Dabo who has made his home at the top of the mountain.
You are the definition of hypocrisy.

How can we expect them to fix the offensive coaching problem when they don't even see that the problem exists? Can't they see that 2-star teams like NIU & Kennesaw St scored more against GT in Atlanta than Clemson's 4-star roster scored in Death Valley (even though NIU & KENN had equal or worse turnover ratios against GT)?
Do they not ever watch other teams' offenses and see what top-tier OCs are doing?

That's much higher than recruiting rankings. Another words, Dabo has built all of this while doing more with less than others.
Those finishes are incredible. To suggest he can't coach is sheer ignorance at best.
They may or may not be able to fix the primary mental issue, but even if we have a down year you simply cannot question the coaching resume. Again,
#2, #1, #4, #1, #2, #4.. lol, our coaches don't know what they're doing? You obviously just want company with the basketball mediocrity, but one non-playoff season won't do it, and basketball has zero equity and money in the bank. What's their best finish in 11 years?.. 16th? And I'm not railing on the basketball program - I want them to succeed like we have seen other coaches (with less) do.. but so far the results aren't matching the package and time they've had to work with. He is making a lot of money and has everything he needs. He is NOT doing more with less.
Like everyone sees, your attempts to criticize the football program are extremely short-sighted and contradictory of your repeat of excuses for the basketball program. Its transparent and people are calling you out.
People are on to you. Can you just stop?

They clearly know how to build a winner.
But we have zero evidence that they know how to fix significant offensive issues at Clemson, because they have never had to do it.
Only in the minds of blind football homers is what I said so insulting and repugnant.
Bringing basketball into this is really immature. I guess it makes you feel better to try to insult our basketball program. Sad!
Finally, you sure do seem to know a lot about me considering the fact that you just joined TigerNet a month ago.

There's one primary issue.
Sep 22, 2021, 2:11 AM
|
|
How many times must this be explained to you. You just (finally) agreed the only issue we've seen in 7 years is a QB requiring more development than we've seen, and a new oline requiring more time to gel and reach their best.
Now you're switching back to coaching.. after two rough games, both of which have been explained to you. One game there were no adjustments to be had and the other we did adjust and won the game because of it.
In the second half we had three possessions (excluding the one play fumble after doing what we needed to win). Three long drives. One pass on 3rd and 4 was on the money and would have given us another first down. Another drive was 12 plays, and we fumbled after making another first down. On the only other drive we scored the game-winning TD.
In the 2nd half we had more runs, a greater percentage of running plays, and a QB who went from one carry in the 1st half to seven carries in the 2nd half.
That was the adjustment. The game-winning adjustment. If we would have tried to force the passing game, we would have given GT many more chances to chip away and it was more likely we would have lost the game.
Coaching isn't the issue. We have an issue that is working to be repaired..
How many times must football and these same things be explained to you? You already (finally) agreed on the issue, so stop the ridiculous and transparent flip-flopping.
That's not knowledgeable fans being blind, insulting, or repugnant. Yet again your transparent passive aggressiveness is what's truly insulting and repugnant.
It's not immature to point out your blatant and obvious basketball hypocrisy. There are no two ways about it. I didn't "insult" the basketball program.. that's an "immature" assertion. Perhaps you could argue the facts instead of trying to manufacture nonsense?
You can read the board without having a username. No offense, but you've made quite an embarrassing name for yourself with your empty excuses and often comical attempts to defend the indefensible.
Look, you (finally) understand the primary reason we're struggling, so stop with the disproven attempts to blame the coaching. That way the basketball hypocrisy doesn't need to be pointed out. Okay?
The coaches are doing all they can to fix it. Personally I have faith that it will be ultimately fixed, due in part because the player's potential has been shown and recorded in Notre Dame record books. But it must also be pointed out that sometimes even 5-star players and QBs are able to meet their potential. It happens every year in every program, and its not a coaching issue.
This subject has been thoroughly covered. Succinctly defined and no further discussion is required. So stick with the conclusion you (finally) get it, and stop forcing the debunked and contrived rhetoric.
Can you do it? I think you can.
Go Tigers.

If tech had come out in the defense we were expecting, them we would have passed merrily up and down the field all day long. The flying Tigers. Also we are 101st in passing and 93rd in rushing because of turnovers? I'd rather Dabo just said look, this school has three natties and I have two so go suck it. That would have been better than the above lack of touch with reality. At this point I'm just hoping we can hang on to recruits.

No Dabo, you cannot assure me that the 114th ranked offense team doesn't stink. You can assure there will be an improvement. You can assure me this team is going to pull it together and finish strong. You can assure me on many, many things and I will take your word for it Coach.
But you, most assuredly, cannot assure me that the offense doesn't stink at this point in the season.

Which is fine with me, TE spends more time preparing his media statements then he does jazzing up the game plan.

How blessed (spoiled) we must be if the thought of going 12-2 drives people to speak of grabbing pitchforks and torches. I want to win them all, but it is inevitable that there will be a season where we drop 2 or 3. Even mighty Alabama missed the CFP.

Sooo transparent.
And how can you prepare for something you had no idea was coming. Even still the fact remains, they adjusted to it and won the game.
And if we want to talk adjustments, let's talk about the dozens of close losses in basketball where we didn't adjust and typically screwed up at the end of the game. You don't want to go down this road.
Again, you (finally) admitted to understanding the core issue, and it's not coaching. So again, stop the ridiculous flip-flops.

Hmm.. 100th+ in offense, and despite what everyone has seen - we don’t stink offensively? What team has he been watching? To say “despite what everyone thinks, we don’t stink” says it all. Why would everyone be saying this? What part of our offense doesn’t stink; can’t run, can’t pass, can’t block and can’t even take a snap from center. Doesn’t seem like everything is on track to me?

Grisham- recievers are getting zero separation, Caldwell- lineman making tons of mistakes, Elliot- takes over tight-ends and they are no longer a factor, Elliot- not much pre-snap motion and very vanilla play calls, Streeter-qb looks completely shaken, Boyd- DJ looks a lot like he did, Spiller- Dixon was never an issue until you showed up?? Maybe this offensive staff needs to "grow up"?

“Stink” is a relative term. You can less than you did yesterday, you can stink more than you did last week, you can stink less than other teams…..and so on. Look, I get that GT played us differently than we prepared for, but we did have a two hour halftime ????? I know our guys are committed, dedicated and talented. A loss to Georgia is not a shocker because those guys recruit as good as we do, even a little better. However, when a consistent top ten recruiting team literally survives to beat a team that probably averages about 30th in recruiting, we should comfortably win that game….if the coaching is there. Elliott has to get better, sorry.

It seems to me like Dabo and the coaches are just ok with being average. Saying whatever he said about Georgia and no one getting explosive plays on them, why can’t Clemson. Why not be the team to dominate them. All this “we are what we are” and we don’t stink talk is just coachspeak this offense is awful.

Kennesaw St had 3 turnovers & NIU 1. Both scored more @ GT
Sep 21, 2021, 4:00 PM
|
|
Dabo can't blame it on turnovers. Clemson had 1 turnover and GT had 1, so it was even. Same for the NIU @ GT game (1-to-1). Kennesaw state lost the turnover battle 3-to-1. But both NIU and Kennesaw St (with their 2-star rosters) scored more on GT in Atlanta than Clemson scored in Death Valley with its 4-star roster.
The offensive coaching stinks. Poor development. Poor game-planning. Poor play-calling. Poor adjustments. Basic, easy-to-defend vanilla offense. Yet the coaches seem to have no self-awareness of their poor offensive coaching. Instead they blame the players, just like Tommy Bowden and his constant excuses that, "We put them in a position to win but the players just didn't execute Rob Spence's brilliant offense".

What BS. GT ran lots of 8-man-boxes where Elliott rushed.
Sep 21, 2021, 4:33 PM

The excuse that GT was dropping 8 into coverage is lame. Whether the D is running 8-man boxes or dropping 8 into coverage, you have to make them pay for their choice. That's what great offensive minds do. Mediocre offensive minds blame the players and the dirty GT DC for running an unexpected defense. Clemson has a MASSIVE talent advantage but the OC & HC can't figure out how to score more points than NIU or Kennesaw State did in Atlanta with their MASSIVE talent disadvantage. How lame.

He readily admits our in-game faults and says we are working to improve them. He's well aware of our struggles, but he's not going to say our team "stinks". That's never been his way of coaching, especially in public.
Weird how people are missing this.

Put him on the bench if he doesn't produce and let the back-ups have a chance and maybe that will bring him to the realization he needs to focus on his game and not on his photo shoots and commercials. Additionally, I can't believe with a two hour delay offensive staff could not make adjustments to what Tech was showing in the 1st half and as far as not getting the signals right, what in the world have they been working on in the past 7 months. Can they fix it, I hope so, and I do think Robby Caldwell needs to retire as these Blue Chip Offensive line is not showing me much??

The O stinks. The O coaching stinks. They must be standing downwind of Dabo if he can’t smell it. 3 points vs Ga. 14 vs. GT. 8 points for the other side and 28 wiped off the board over first three games by failures in red zone.

We may not stink but we smell really bad right now, and I truly believe it is mostly on the coaches! No reason in the world a team this talented looks so bland and uninspired on offense!

What would you have him say? You want him to trash players and coaches? Seriously just look at the situation-the head coach is being questioned about his team's lackluster performance. If he went over every detail of what was wrong, who was really screwing up, and what his thoughts were regarding strategy and how he has concerns about players and coaches-what good does that do? It would start a freaking feeding frenzy for a bunch of sharks and then the critics would really pile on with "See-we were right!" You think that would help the team, the program, recruiting? You want to keep a top tier program? or is expressing indignation at your perception of the state of affairs more important. Is acting like the fans at USuC bring such elation at the thought of snotty comments -which BTW has done wonders for their program-buying used up coaches, can't get a coach that even wants to go there? USuC is where coaches go to leave for some place better. That is not Clemson -unless you make it that way. Let's set the bar higher. You are all smart dedicated people-just think of why you want to say something and what effect your words will have before you put them out there-plez

I love Dabo but he's in denial. Miss State put up offense against NCSU. One of the SEC's worst teams. Let's just admit the elephant in the room, Jeff Scott is gone and this is offense, especially Scott's passing game, went with him. Please, please prove me wrong!!
