If not for the early Stanford 4th down fumble and 2 early PI's, this could have had a much different story line. Stanford was killing us on the outside pitch and run and middle, so if Rumph knew what was going on why didn't he make immediate adjustments on the defensive breaks, why wait til halftime.
That score could have been easily been flipped on us at halftime and we'd been playing catch up football all 2nd half. Id have to say Clemson dodged 3 bullets in that first half. Whatever he did at halftime worked based on the rushing yards. I certainly hope our Coaches and guys learned something from this game, because everyone we play now is going to try this same scheme.

One of the best and accurate articles I've read in quite sometime. Well written as well!
Other than Klubniks long td run, our running game was pretty much shut down first half and Stanford had more total yards at the break. Kudos to Stanford, not a bad football team.
The highlight of this article imo is the excellent description of Klubnik's positive and negative play. Spot on.

The team needed that type of physical came on both sides of the ball and prove they could still do what they did. To still score 40 in a blowout effort in what looked like a C+ performance says a lot about how far they've come as a unit.

Yes…….agreed!!!!!
I was on the field pregame and at one point most of the Stanford team was walking single file right past me…..within arms reach. I’m not a small guy but I’d have to say some of those guys were huge!!!!!! Every bit from a physical appearance a match for our Tigers. Glad for the win!!!!!!!

Standford's starting D Line is very, very good. But they have no depth and it really showed in the 2nd half when they got worn down.
