There has never been a bigger Venables fan than me and I agree. This is retarded to let him come to our scrimmage and see our recruits. Sometimes this family thing goes too far

Surprised they didn't let him bring his entire team to run down the Hill like UCF did.
I'm sure he will betting Dabo come to his scrimmage and talk to his recruits.

Are you really this dumb or are you just trolling? Head coaches visit other programs all the time! To have a former coach who is beloved return for a visit is normal and welcome! Dabo always tells you the program is about serving the heart and so Venables spreading that to another school is great! Oh yeah He still has a home in Clemson !

Dabo and BV aren't 12 years old. That probably explains how and why they are able to pull it off.

It's not a big deal and its not like we were handing him our playbook. His son still plays for us as well.

How convenient Venables would show up to watch a practice the day the #1 LB comes to Clemson. The same #1 LB he is recruiting. I get what Venables did for Clemson and that he is a friend of Dabo, other Tiger coaches and he has a son here, but he doesn't need to see anything the Tiger football team is doing. He's not a High School or some Div 2 coach looking for pointers. Those "friendly" get togethers can happen away from practice.

but its funny to see how some pl really think he was at THAT practice by "chance" seeing his son.....the exact same practice that SB was attending. BV is a competitor, and if you don't think he KNEW SB was going to be there and planned his trip around that....then you have your head DEEP into the sand.
Again, SB isn't going there and love the Dabo is confident enough to let that happen. BV and staff have certainly copied a lot of what Dabo was doing at CLEM...and I think that is quite flattering...

I think it would actually help Clemson for a recruit to see that BV was welcome at the scrimmage.

Because that's how it works, Forrest, coaches are like that. When you get through running, Forrest, maybe you'll figure that out.

Even if BV were unprofessional and unethical, as a mature leader of men he would restrict himself from poaching Clemson recruits while enjoying Clemson’s hospitality.
The loss he would suffer far outweighs the benefit gained. A leader of men would recognize that. And since he IS a man of both professionalism and ethics, as well as a friend, trusted colleague, former employee and former boss, and player’s dad, he isn’t there to poach.
That doesn’t mean Dabo gave him the keys to the playbook, but I also wouldn’t discourage Goodwin from spending time with him. But it would need to be at Godwin’s initiative.
So far as I’m concerned, if OK isn’t on our schedule this year, he can borrow anything except personnel.
In the extremely competitive world of CFB coaching, relationships based on trust are to be treasured. After an initial season of 6-7 football and player transfers, I’m sure BV is feeling some pressure in Norman. Spending some time at Clemson is probably the closest thing to a spa day he is going to get.

His son is still playing at Clemson. He’s part of our two national championships. He’s a competitor, just like all of us are. He did what any of us would do if presented the opportunity. He set his family up for life.

“Man, Coach Goodwin, whew, he was hot today (Wednesday). “
This was an interesting comment. I think a lot of us see Coach Goodwin as a quiet thinker, mostly because he is being compared to Coach Venables, but it sounds like he can bring the energy when needed. Really glad to see that comment.

You might not like that he's at our practice. Some have the concept that he's there stealing our recruits and our playbook. Look, any success we've had on defense is partially or mostly attributable to him. What's he going to steal there? And on offense--he inherited a playbook from Mr. Riley's more successful older brother. Not that the two are identical, but if you could get Lincoln or Garrett at the same price, who you taking?
Others have already noted that he has a son on a team and a good friend as head coach. From that standpoint alone, I'm cool with him being there.
If I found out that Brent made PLANS to be there the same day as Sammy, and monopolized his time...THEN I might get worked up. But the way I see it, Venables being there is a good thing for us. The recruit saw Venables make the trip to Clemson because WE are the leader. The standard. CLEMSON is the place people wanna be. If there's any copying to be done, then WE have the blueprint that people want to copy. And the real ones will recognize that and want to be in the orange jerseys.
I like that the kid has made two trips and will be back in June in time to impact his July decision. He's a hot commodity. I hope he lands here. The fact that he recognized Peter Woods and the rest of the D line should make him lick his lips thinking about how it's going to give him room to operate (not like other schools don't have prize recruits, but the fact that he's picturing himself here is good).

The major point is Sammy Brown appears to be a good young man and is very interested in becoming a Tiger.

I've ever witnessed in a thread...and that's saying a lot. That Venables isn't welcome back at Clemson is beyond pathetic. He's earned his place here. The man has more integrity than many, MANY who post on T-Net. Jeebus...such whine country.

Venables was there to hire Streeter. Might have accepted a cash payment for the favor.

don’t seem to get it. Like we would be a small, sheltered program, keeping a key part of the Clemson family from visiting a scrimmage. Like CBV needs to steal any plays. Like CBV would show up at a Clemson practice to steal a recruit.
The recruit even mentioned how well it reflected on Clemson.

So, if true, please stop the comparisons to Bosworth just because he has a mullet. It's stupid. Bosworth was a pile of crap on and off the field. He also was a chicken #### when push came to shove. I can tell you that first hand. He came after a small Longhorn dude and a tough looking one stood up and Bosworth, the tough guy, stepped back. He was a drugged up punk.

I bet you know first hand (smh). Bosworth was a superior athlete whose NFL career was shortened by injuries. Too much is made of one play: where from a standstill, he got ran over by Bo Jackson who had a 15 yard head of steam; same thing wouldve happened to any LB in the league.

Understand both sides of the healthy Sammy Brown debate

If Brown signs with Oklahoma, Venables ability to visit Clemson, as the alpha dog coach and recruiter that he is, will be revisited as a turning point. If Brown signs with Clemson, Dabo's home town confidence will again be reinforced. One thing not up for debate, many on Tnet can only see an issue one way.

Peter Wood most likely won't be a 4 year player for the team, he will head to the NFL after his junior season baring no injury that would cause him to lose part or hold season....
