Is this Brent Venables' best coaching job?

The Clemson defense entered 2019 with what seemed like more question marks than answers. Gone were four starters and two key reserves off the defensive line, two starting linebackers and a starting cornerback. Most pundits predicted it would take the defense the entire season to jell and mature. Full Story »

I’m not sure if it qualifies as the best, he has never had a bad year and all have been amazing in their own special ways

There is no doubt he knows his business and his players are ready; easily the best DC. Dabo is the best coach in the FBS too for leading our Tigers to Championships amidst a national unfriendly media. It's great to be a Tiger.

If people were as good as their obituary - and products were as good as advertised - this would truly be a wonderful world !!

We'll know for sure at the end of the season

So far it qualifies as best.

Yes, it is BV's best coaching job

...until next year. He just gets better every year. One of these days, we may see a Clemson team undefeated, untied and unscored upon. ??

Defense is Brent’s passion. Why would he EVER want the baggage of a head coach when you make 2 mill/ year and OWN IT? If he ever left to be a head coach, I think he’d be miserable thinking about what he gave up lifestyle wise. It’s like asking a teacher that loves teaching to be the principal.

I love Coach Venables!!!!***

Can you even imagine how gaudy our numbers would be

Oct 21, 2019, 11:39 AM

if we played our first stringers for the entire game each weekend like the rest of the Top 10?

A lot of that opposing yardage and scoring is from trash-time (e.g. the 2nd half).

Easily yes.***

Absolutely, our national rank would be better without those late touchdowns. However, next year we just reload with the experience those back-ups got by allowing those late touchdowns. It's a process.

I love VB. This may be his best year, but I have to admit that I HATE the 3 man D line. I like the two DEs on the edge where they can set the edge and also be more effective rushing the passer. It seems like all of the running yardage on us has come on the edges. That said, how can you argue with results!

Without a doubt, Coach Venables is the BEST DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL!! He is a great motivator and teacher. He mixes things up and is great coming out from halftime into 3rd quarter to keep the opposing offense guessing. GO TIGERS!!!
