Study up on GaTech/Clemson history. Talk about having years and years of advantage in a rivalry. Sheesh! And to suggest student body and alumni population? Really? Pawl...this is Clemson being discussed, not USCjr....

A not so subtle dig at Tech's administration. They will either step up, shut up or fire Paulie. But I agree. They have tons of $$$, are located in the heart of Hotlanta, and have beaten Clemson plenty, especially when all the games were played at Grant Field, Bobby Did Stadium, Yellow Jacket Park, whatever. Since the schedule has rotated, the Tigers have more than held their own against the Big City Slickers. GooooooTigers!!!!!!

of season ticket package? Compare that to other major colleges in the area. I know a lot of people don’t like Johnson but check the facts.

Tech is in the midst of building an indoor practice facility, a locker room renovation and re-doing the office lobby. They have $$$. Just late to the party, just like they're outdated offense.

If Paul was at a big time school ( with a large student count ) that would allow or wanted that type of offense, with big time 4 and 5 star recruits, he could win championships with his style of option offense!!!

I agree he could win with better athletes

I mean look at how well they did when he first came in and Josh Nesbit and Demarius Thomas were there.
Since then it's gone down hill though. In reality what high ranking QB aspiring to be in the NFL is gonna want to play in the antiquated triple option. Same thing with high ranking WRs. GT seems to always get some decent O-line guys and RBs, but then has to settle for lower tier QBs and WRs.

When did Clemson get more far more students than GT?

GT is much bigger. We might have a few more undergrads, but they have more overall.

I think he's referring to those students who comprehend the game of American football.

In the first place enrollment has nothing to do with anything. Nobody picks its football team from the student body, you know. (If enrollment counted the Ohio States and Michigans of the world would rule everything.) Second, we amaze me. The guy gives a perfect lucid and greatly complimentary press conference which is on the money ... and here we go getting defensive again. (And if you want to know what a hugely successful football program with a huge stadium means to a school, check out the Clemson basketball news. they just added two more coaches/aides. That money isn't coming from basketball revenue, you know.) Lighten up, enjoy the ride. And know that yes, at some point GT will win one it shouldn't win. Johnson is a coach who can do that. In the meantime ...

I had a GT grad friend who always said this

[ in reply to When did Clemson get more far more students than GT? ] |
|
"Well, Clemson has an advantage because it's a much bigger school with more students." I would tell him the rough numbers and that Clemson does not have more students. Then six months later he would say it again. It must be some kind of theology they teach at GT.

Paul Johnson is the gift that keeps on giving. He keeps the ACC interesting by tripping up a ranked foe from time to time, and he is an easy W for us as long as we have Venables.

Undergraduate Enrollment
Jul 18, 2018, 3:28 PM
|
|
Clemson: 18,599 GA Tech: 15,489
Not a huge difference. Not sure what that has to do with the "arms race"
Living alumni: Clemson: 118,000 (155,000 including Graduate) GA Tech: 140,000 (unclear if this is undergrad or total number)
Not a huge difference. And alumni numbers may even tilt towards GA Tech if that 140k is undergrad.
Sounds like ole PJ is looking for excuses of not having GA Tech on top.

Stats continue to be used in weird ways. Yeah - maybe GT is 5-6 vs CLEMSON, but GT is 1-5 vs CLEMSON in the past 6 years. Times have changed and CLEMSON owns GT. Paul must be off his meds if he does not see it.

That choose not to drive 30-45 minutes to fill up their little 55,000 seat stadium. Maybe if his offense didn’t put everyone to sleep, he would have more people investing in his program.

Glad the article corrected “the last time” we won. I drove my 40 minutes in 2016 to see my Tigers and it was over by halftime. Tigers would have scored more but the NATS offense put them to sleep. *NATS=North Avenue Trade School

What is an arms race?

And why would we need to race with our arms in a football game? Is that like the potato bag race, but with arms?
