Looking back at Brad's portal activity we've actually only been hitting about .500 there on incomings. Gonna need to hit a bit higher than that this cycle unless the goal next season is more youth driven.

Horrible end to what was a great win total in the weakest ACC has likely ever been. It was all way overhyped it looks like.

Hopefully he'll build it back.

The ending of the season was a trainwreck. Where the program is as a whole is solid though and looking good.

And yet, Graham Neff and the incompetent board jumped the gun AGAIN and awarded a 6-year contract.

If next year doesn’t produce, both Neff and Brownell should be in the unemployment line.

The alternative was to lose our winningest coach to Indiana.

Zero realistic interest from Indiana or any P4 program in the country. Just agent hype looking to steal more $$$ out of Clemson.

It was a notable change in protocol not to wait until after the season for the customary meeting.

There was a reason for that.

1. Do you know ?

2. Losing our winningest coach just means losing the best lobster in a mediocre pot. Let's have better choices. I asked our AD years ago if Clemson would actually tolerate a championship basketball program and what the goal was for the basketball program. I'm waiting.

I am not sure how the program is at a crossroads. CBB just signed a 6 year deal. We are on an interstate with no exit for at least 4 years.

Last offseason was way more important for Brad. Now that he got his 6 year extension, he doesn’t have to have one good season again for at least 3 more years.

Prepare for us to be trash this year and next.

With Neff and his B O T's, Brownell could have 6 less than average seasons and Neff would offer him another 6-year contract. IMO, Clemson really don't care that much about other sports after FB!!!

I thought the offseason after his third year was the most pivotal to turn us into a contender. Or, maybe it was the 4th. No….my bad, it was clearly the 7th. No, that’s right - we were right there on the cusp and ready for a run after the 9th. Or was that the 11th?

Same ole same ole.

This collection of young players should get more consideration. Brownell and staff have to find a way to develop them and keep them from portaling out, but there is more talent here than what the program was signing 5 yrs ago. Adding veteran transfers and maybe taking a risk to allow the young players more playing time next year could pay off.

Why is that a concern for him. He got his 6 year contract. He can coast for 6 more years like he has for the past 14.

I agree. If we want to have a real program not a portal program we need to let these young guys get experience and keep them here. Next year already feels like a wash anyway with all the veterans leaving.

I can't wait for the day our football AD gets tired of no trophies in men's basketball, or when the village idiot has a few players who play out of their minds and some careless program scoops him up. When a coach's main liability is coaching, it's not a good outcome.

Why are all the TigerNet written stories so negative? Yes, we lost in Providence but the season did not fall apart and the accomplishments of this team will live in history forever. Will we have the talent next season that we had this year, maybe not but Coach Brownell will do the best he can to lead us on another good year.

Good article. I agree with other posters that it seems to be very neutral and 'matter of fact' in tone.

Regarding the contract extension...doesn't that still have to go through the BOT meeting this month (23rd-25th)? My basic understanding is that it is a rubber-stamp, but *if* there were concerns grave enough (over the next 6 years) could that be rescinded?

Coach Swinney for comment, though. A lot of Clemson fans have been very disoriented by what can only be described as a fairly chaotic situation within the basketball program.

His steadying hand, his input and guidance, seem especially crucial at this time.

Contact-guess that means a phone call?? Sure are a lot of kids listed. Unlikely everyone gets picked up. You know rookies in the NBA get a standard deal providing 2 years with the team that drafted them. I think-not that anyone cares-that student athletes should have the same conditions with Universities. In fact, after 2 years, they don't pan out, they can get booted into the portal. Fair is Fair-right??
