TNET: Chad Smith says journey from special teams to MVP was "all worth it"

Chad Smith says journey from special teams to MVP was "all worth it"

Chad Smith stood on the stage, confetti falling around him, and cradled his Fiesta Bowl defensive MVP trophy as tears rolled down his face. All of the sacrifice, all of the hard work, all of the early mornings and late nights, were worth it. Full Story »

I absolutely love it when one of players that has largely been in the background wins an MVP award. I thought it was great when Cole Stout won and now Chad. I’m sure this provides incentive to others who don’t get the headlines.

Yep, it do prove that a college player that has held up the bottom most of their career can rise to the top at the end of their college career as Chad and Cole both done. Just keep grinding and never feel sorry for yourself when you know and believe that you have done your best and gave everything that you had to give. Feel sorry for the ones that has refused to see or notice all that you have given for the cause, and you will usually get what you have worked for. For sure feeling sorry for yourself will only keep you down while you suffocate in your own self sorrow!!!

You are so spot on AO. He could have stood on the sidelines and pouted, entered the transfer portal crap and ended up watching his old teammates live out A dream... Instead of ending in 4-7 obscurity, you're hoisting a forever moment MVP trophy in front of 22 million people. Now go hoist the big one and chase a dream in the NFL. Forever in Clemson lore.

Go Tigers!!!!

Great game Chad and congratulations! It takes a lot of no names to field the team we have now. The scout team doesn’t play, but they have a big part in playing the other team. It takes a lot of player’s sacrificing time, energy desire and TEAMWORK to win it all. They may only get in the big blowouts, but they do sometime most on this board can only dream about. Play as a CLEMSON TIGER! Congratulations and thanks for your hard work to give your TIGER fans the pleasure of watching you grow up!

Excellent game hoss, Chad made several big time stops at clutch times, although I would wager all the plays were big time in that game. Great young man.
