Quite honestly, and I do appreciate Cade’s character, and all the things he brings to the program. But the reality is that he has to shoulder the responsibility for a vastly under performing offense to a significant amount of degree. I think he needs to sit down for a game and view the game from the sidelines. We are favored by nearly 17 points against Syracuse so what’s the harm in starting Chris? He has to get some solid game experience anyway as our presumed starter for next year. Maybe this would be the best thing for a team and provide a spark. I’m sure men won’t agree with me but that’s why I feel this morning.

I don’t thing this is a bad team, but it’s a team that seems to leave something out every week. Heck, even our win against Troy was marred by a sleeping first half that miraculously came to
life in the 2nd half. Personally, I think our OC was a horrible hire. Our defense is holding other offenses to low scores, but our offense just finds plenty of ways to botch scoring drives and lose. It pi$$es me off. Come on Tigers!

Hard to believe perhaps but our OC was the savior when hired. Our defensive coorinator is the current savior. Perhaps the problem lies elsewhere. Other teams have gotten better but Clemson has not . Take a look at Florida State.

The saddest thing of all is the ignorance. With the talent of this team, we shouldn't be a few plays away. We shouldn't even let other teams come into a presser and say, "well, we were just a few plays away". We should be getting backups the chance to play the fourth quarter.

I know "on paper" means jack crap, but when the draft analyst are saying there are 4-5 first rounders on this team and possibly 11 picks in the first 3 rounds, then by golly, we should be thrashing teams.

Cade, half of the starters are NFL prospects. A few plays away isn't good enough.

If not for their love of football, Clemson, or the fans, at least half of the starters should be playong for their future paychecks and churning out better results. Any blue collar or even white collar person wouldn't look a promotion in the eye and become complacent or backslide before they got it, and that is exactly what is happening right now.

This is what happens when you make millions regardless of your results on the field and have a coaching staff that fails/refuses to motivate.

Could it be that some of these NFL prospects are just taking it easy during games to prevent injury while still collecting paychecks larger than a lot of us here will ever see?

I see no fire on the sideline, no coach chewing anyone out, no motivation.

All the talk about unfinished business looks like just words at this point. Hopefully we can get it turned around and scrape out a decent season.

I think the Tigers are putting too much pressure on themselves. We have gotten better as the game progressed, but I think we come out too excited, too hyped-up so that we overrun lanes and are fooled by counters. Once we got moving, we looked good. If Wesco catches that out route or if the pass up the middle is not tipped at the line, we probably would have put the game away. Give credit to Haynes King, who looked like a Heisman candidate yesterday. He was tough, elusive, and accurate with his throws. The season is not over. If we win out, beating FSU and FSU beats Miami, we could get into the ACC playoffs. I hate that we lost, but this was the best game we have played this year.

This is what happens when the coach comes into the locker room and tells his players they are “only a few plays away.” Delusion starts setting in. If the DC coach is any good, he will be gone in two seasons, as he knows better and will go to a team that lives in reality. OC will have no where to go because he’s now associated with mediocrity. Let’s see how long the board of directors keep drinking the kool aid.

The Clemson decline, established in recent seasons, continues. We are now firmly back in the pack, every week a struggle, no week a gimme in a league where others have raised their game as ours has declined. The offensive drought, well established in recent seasons, continues. Klubnik, who appears to be a wonderful student athlete and leader, has never exhibited sustained excellence, and his supporting cast has not buoyed or buffered him enough to make success an easy outcome. This season will be a grind, and there will be high moments as the team embraces the role of spoiler rather than league leader. Unfortunately, the bright light of success that attracts high school talent is now dimmed, and the Clemson checkbook is too modest to match the big bucks offers of others. Nothing lasts forever, whether good or bad. For the time being, the torch has been passed.

A few plays from what, not losing? Maybe I am being a bit too critical, but are we playing to survive where that mentality is now part of the conversation? The fact is, we are failing to be successful on the simple plays. Becoming reliant on big moments creates desperation where the team (and fanbase) is conditioned to be relieved to win rather than expect it.

Granted, Tech is better than they were, but not as talent rich, so there is a serious disconnect here (sorry for the obviousness of the statement) and they frankly killed us on the simple plays.

I will give Cade at least a bit of credit by saying this starts with the O-line because we struggle with the run (except for 3rd and 22 as odd as that is) and he seems to be running, either intentionally or for his life, on every play. No wonder he can't see the field.

And when was the last time we sacked anyone? We were supposed to have one of the best defenses in the country, specifically the D-line and the only bright spot I have seen is Wade, Sammy and Hanafin.

...and Nolan Hauser.

If only we could win games with good linebacker/safety play and maybe a couple field goals.

This is beyond frustrating because we are way too good on paper to be this ungood on the field.
